The way that email is written implies that Epic is reaching out to recent purchase makers to just throw some money at them... Like, I could, and have, had other stores do this (Future Shop, in Canada, before BB bought them, you could just head up to the Customer Service desk with your receipt and get the difference), but for the company to pro-actively do that is just straight bad business practice heh

They do something nice for customers and you're criticizing them for it? Treating customers well build reputation and earns repeat business.
Agreed.

Oh it has nothing to do with what people like or what's better for gamers, or anything like that. This is just like politics these days. It's a my-side/your-side based argument where my-side are the only intelligent, morally responsible people and your-side are the embodiment of pure evil.

These people have gone past logic and are all about ideology now. They've identified with 'their-side' whichever that is, so thoroughly, their belief so entrenched that no amount of information or facts are going to sway them.

Personally, I have no problem buying from Origin, GOG, etc.. In fact Steam is my second top choice to buy from.

Epic has the resources to compete toe-to-toe with Steam. They have brand recognition, and mountains of money to feed into strong development. They've instead chosen a route of forcing me to a lackluster store front if I want certain (and I'm sure they'd prefer it be all) third-party AAA games on release day.

Their sales and giveaways are great, but that too smells of money just being thrown around for short-term gains. A race to the bottom I choose not to favor in who I support with my purchases. If they improve things I may consider them more so in the future.

Third-party? Hope not. Would rather see more honest competition. Besides PC benefits from being a more open platform. Don't need another store mirroring the console market.

Considering most of us are in said midlife crisis, I think the outlet that GTAV gives is a good thing...saves me from having to buy that convertable with real money

My convertible came with a free copy.

Get the feeling they've shifted their warchest spending from third-party exclusives to freebies. Good on them if so. This is a major one.

They would be doing themselves a disservice to not also show what it can do on PC. They still sell a PC version.

NVIDIA's big graphic card reveal is tomorrow. Assuming they're consumer cards (they better fucking be), along with Jensen + Sweeney's bromance we may just get to see some YEWEEE 5 on PC yet.

Really miss Matt Uelman's scores. They had such a signature element to them. I would sometimes stop moving in Burning Crusade if his theme kicked in just to let it play out without the music transitions which seemed to occur every 5 feet in some areas.

I seriously hope you are wrong, because if you aren't then they would have been working on Starfield barely for a year and that puts it earliest in 2023.... even realistically 3-4 years for a big game is quick. Especially with the virus shutdown affecting everything.

So TES6 by ... 2028 ? Can't even imagine what PC's we will have by then.

Say what!? Starfield has been in development overall for 10 years and in full production for 3-4 years now. I wager it'll be out next year.
Source?
I figured this would be easy to find due to all the talk I heard about how the game had been in Bethesda's back pocket for a long while when it was officially announced.

Howard says "We’ve been talking about it for a decade, we started putting things on paper five, six years ago, and active development was from when we finished Fallout 4, so two and a half, three years.”

As long as we're talking Skyrim, which is better:
- Original Skyrim with mods
- Skyrim Enhanced Edition

Now that script extender is out for EE, EE. From what I've seen there's hardly any decent or better mods that haven't been ported over to EE. Also, you can go nuts with texture mods; no more 4 gig memory limit for the total game.

Waiting for Eneral to get officially ported to it before I pick it up again. Too many under-the-hood improvements.

Meanwhile play Enderal.

Yes, Enderal's an absolute gem of a game. For me there was a point a couple hours in where it went from Skyrim total conversion, to it's own game standing on it's own legs. Awesome game.

A little surprised to see it on sale for 25% off so soon, but that's going on this weekend.

It's been out for a month, hasn't it? That's when you make most of your sales anyway. A month in is a good time to give a discount to get it back in front of people before all the marketing and chatter has gone stale.

It just straddles the boarder to being close enough to tick off the people who payed full price. Even the ones who didn't pre-order.
