I tried many times to get into Bard's Tale. I couldn't. Found it to be a pale imitation of the great game that was Alternate Reality.

Holy crap! Someone who played AR! Yes, that was a freaking amazing game(s). Too bad the series never made it past the second module.

I... just... huh?

That you think EA gives a damn about this little website (sorry, Blue!) is amusing. That you think this is part of some 13 year conspiracy is disturbing.

Over nine-tenths of a billion visitors since 1997, Virge! NINE-TENTHS!!

Also:

AMD has confirmed with us that the game is indeed running at the same visual settings in the demo. The variations in visuals seem to be due to the procedural-generated nature of Ashes of the Singularity.

"I know this, when I run AotS benchmark it looks exactly the same between NVIDIA and AMD each time, same snow, same number of units, same everything, at the same settings I use, which is "Crazy" on both. " - Brent from [H]

It's possible they put in some major shortcuts for the driver they used if it wasn't just flat out different graphics settings.

Compare the trees in the upper left; in one they have much more defined shadows than the other. Maybe it was all something outside their control, but it looks way too suspect imo.

Only movie I've seen that ended up not be being better imo was Dark City's DC. I like some of the extra scenes and the elimination of the narration at the beginning, but the pacing of the original is significantly better I feel. It's more of a tie in that one's case.

The original.

One of the main television networks (ABC I think) used to show a slightly modified version of it back in the day. There was an added scene concerning the death of one of the crewmates after Khan's initial attack, and prob a few other edits here and there. I think this has more added to it, but it's not going to be on the same level as LotR's extended, or Aliens DC.

I don't own it on Blu-Ray yet. I figure I may as well grab this edition.

They should list the extended scenes on the back of the box like they're patch notes.

- Durotan now dual wields for 3 minutes and 16 seconds as per his level allowing for Dual Talent Specialization.

Just checked Wiki and they got Solar Fields back for the soundtrack. Ok, sold.

Thanks, Creston. I was really wondering how this one was shaping up.

I bet that new setting's to counter the issue people were experiencing with high refresh monitors. 1440p 144hz+ monitors were causing cards to go into a high energy setting in 2D. I forget the technical reason for why the cards were doing that, but a lot of people were setting their 2D refresh at 120hz and gaming at the higher refresh.

This may have come about as the answer to that problem.

It took me ~12 hours on Hurt Me Plenty, though with searching for secrets. Towards the end I actually just went to YouTube videos for some, as searching was no longer fun (and I missed one or two due to not being able to backtrack and was annoyed.)

Towards the end I became less a challenge completionist, too.

Keep in mind the guy in the vid's one of the more well known speed runners of older Doom games.

He bound each weapon to a key orbiting the WASD keys... think I may try that. Only watched the beginning parts.

Yeah, I turned it off, it helps, but sometimes it's hard to know if you can do the glory kill or not and you take damage you shouldn't have taken.

Well yeah, it adds to the challenge, that's kinda the point...? Personally I like the added risk of trying to determine if it's a good opportunity to go in for the kill.. AND sometimes failing. You seem to want some perfect system that can't meet your expectations.

Edit - Pretty much agree with all of what Beamer said. I'm completely aware of how good Brutal Doom is, but I'm enjoying this new Doom immensely. It seems to capture what I used to like about id - solid shooters, and graphics that have me wanting to see what's up ahead, and unlike Brutal Doom it's all new material to enjoy.

Walking in to the foundry level with a high-contrast VA panel monitor made my eyes rather happy. The graphics aren't completely ahead of the pack like they used to be with id, but it's got a good "atmosphere"'ness to it.

Hell Ant *almost* wants to play it.. that's like a 5 1/2 out 5 stars.

You can turn off the flashing, that's the first thing I did.

You *can* one-shot enemies. In fact there's times where you have to switch away from the shotgun if you want to get health off an easy enemy. Maybe there's a little more health added to enemies for purposes of the glory kills? It hasn't really come to mind as an issue personally till thinking about it just now.

Music's solid. Completely dug it at first, but even though it doesn't seem to play the exact tracks over and over it still lacks variety. I'm only about halfway through the 4'th map though.

My example was an extreme to illustrate the point. A lot of these shows are going to have viewers from both demographics, especially couples.

That's why the headline reads, "Men Are Skewing The Online Reviews of TV Shows Aimed at Women" instead of "Sabotaging". And it clearly points out that a 7.3 is still a relatively high score instead of a poor one.

Back to Serious-World: Yeah it would be a lot better if the polling was 50/50, and zero troll posts, but everyone knows it's not a perfect rating system.

My problem with articles like these is they so easily push everyone's buttons and know it (just like that one youtube poster), while there's real issues across the globe getting glossed over by all this non-issue bullshit.

If all of this was race orientated pretty much everyone would be shooting it down.
