Are you allowed to delete a Cryptic account? I'm pretty sure you can't delete a Steam account and Origin will delete it arbitrarily. Would solve some issues.

Anyone taking a book on how long before APB Flagships? I'll take eight months, two weeks and a day.

If they're still releasing DLC, why would they release a retail version? Who is this targeted at? If you don't already own the DLC on PC, you know there's a GOTY edition somewhere down the track which will be cheaper and more complete (and hopefully with mouse-wheel support for menus.) If you have the game on console, this will have zero resale or trade value - again, better to wait for the GOTY version complete with all the extra baubles.

Yep, all planets. I have played the game before so that makes a difference.

People were talking about playing Dragon Age for 50 or 60 hours but my time stamp is more like 35. That's for a level 22 character with the 75% quest complete achievement/badge thing. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

And after further consideration, I'm retracting my opposition to game content as DRM (I still don't like it being called DLC, though.) Better than loaders and third party software, streets ahead in usability to limited installs. So fire and lie away Bioware, I just want to head back into space.

18 hours? I'm assuming you skipped most of the side quests and planet exploration?

Nope. I'm 13 hours through with just Horse Head Nebula and Virmire to go (and end game, conduit, etc. obviously.) That's about another 3 hours. All citadel quests and both DLC's done as well. I do press space in dialogues once I've read them and I didn't sleep with the Asari Consort, so that saved a few seconds. I think 18 hours is a pretty fair estimation of what a normal first-run play-through would be, for me at least.

As for the free DLC - Bioware are the ones who've put a value on it. This not-cut-from-the-game-before-release, not-essential-to-gameplay-experience additional content. Would they release a cheaper SKU without access to the Cerberus Network? No fucking way. They know this is an arbitrary dissection of a game to make it seem like you're getting something extra that you're not. Its original game content masquerading as bonus content, just like The Stone Prisoner was.

I'm willing to pay for the game. I have the Collectors Edition pre-ordered and paid for. I just don't like being bullshitted about what I'm buying.

Still has Games For Windows crapware. I'll still give this a miss I think.

And who have they appeased? They've really just reverted to the crumby system they started with. Can you get activations back with uninstalls through GfWL? I couldn't be bothered finding out. There are too many other games to play right now.

Silly question I know, but where's the deal that offers the game without the card for $15 less? That's almost a third of the game price, so does that mean Cerberus Network offers about 6 hours extra gameplay? (Assuming the game is about 18 hours long, which is about what it took for ME.) It is disturbing to see games less as complete entities and more as platforms for ongoing DLC sales.

I was planning on placing a preorder when I picked up Mass Effect 2 next week but Bioshock 2 isn't a good enough game to make me grab for my ankles. I just recently lost a ME activation through a HD crash. (I was able to recover my most recent saves, couldn't deactivate the install though.) Limited activations are a crumby, stupid system.

I should really be thanking 2K for saving me some money.

Bethesda games do feel bland to me. I think about their RPG's and can't recall a single memorable character. Compared to Black Isle, Troika, Obsidian, even Bioware, their games are almost sterile.

Haven't vinyl record sales been increasing steadily since the supposed "death of music due to the internet"? Maybe if record companies provided us with something worth buying and at a fair price they'd have less to complain about.

Personally, I just download FLAC's or whatever then Paypal bands money - $10, $20, $50 depending on how much I like them. There's really no reason for artists to have a record label they don't personally operate. Setting up a home studio is cheaper than ever and the internet removes the record labels job for duplication and distribution.

Read through the comments at Slashdot and this seems like less than an uncommon technique. Still, it was new to me. And it works too. I'm getting about a 20% faster line speed rating with my wireless modem inside a cooking pot. My computer already looks strange enough with the sides off and parts and fans and tape hanging out, I'm unlikely to ruin my aesthetic.

I have no interest in the Call of Duty games, nor do I download/pirate games. That said, the giant "fuck you" IW gave PC gamers before this release provoked me to the point where I downloaded a bit-torrent client just so I could boost the numbers (I didn't actually end up downloading it, bandwidth is too expensive here to make that kind of protest.)

I hope IW get the message and let the billion dollar door hit them in the arse on their way out. I'm reminded that in the same year that Infinity Ward went Gestapo, Runic Games not only released a game with a campaign twice as long as MW2's, but an editor, complete with all their assets, for a third of the price. I know this isn't an apples to apples comparison but a developer from Runic went as far to add an option in the .ini file to turn off the screen shake because a poster mentioned it would cause motion sickness for him/her. Its not difficult to figure out which developer gets my undying love and money.

Red Baron, Fallout... you really could go on and on if you included PC games. Sometimes the manuals by Microprose were more entertaining than the games they were for. At least there's a consensus agreement that the original article sucks.

As an aside, it kind of blows that the new Pirates! doesn't support widescreen without a tonne of issues. I even liked the new dancing mini-game - jaunty!
