They should Kickstart a new game and fund the lawsuit.

We all knew DH wouldn't succeed.

They're crowd funding their legal action. It's not going well.

lol...
They don't have my sympathy.

Their crowdfunding is costing them far more than it's netting them. People are donating the smallest amount possible and then issuing chargebacks through their card company, which is costing them like $25 a pop.

That's kinda funny, but also fraudulent use of the chargeback capability, which could be a felony.

News Comments > PC DOOM Sells 1M
25. Re: PC DOOM Sells 1M Aug 10, 2016, 15:17 The Magician

But how much playtime does anyone have on it?

I played the final test release to see how the multiplayer was, and that convinced me that I will never buy anything from id without playing it first. I own everything else id has ever made, and have bought it all on release day, since Doom 2.

The new Doom I will not purchase, unless maybe when it ends up in the $5 or less bin. They fucked up the best thing about Doom so hard that they have decided to make a new Quake game to make up for it.

I was incredibly disappointed. I no longer auto-buy things with "id software" stamped on them.

I'm definitely buying Doom for the single player experience. I don't need a poor Quake game for multiplayer, though.

There are no more multiplayer games that I like.

Sure, I've seen a lot of games that give the person who remains connected a win.. but a large number of games who fail to credit the disconnected person with a loss. I play a lot of Magic these days, and the current Magic games just have an AI take over against whatever player remains. If it's a network issue, and you both end up disconnected, you can both lose or both win!

So, it turns out, that the Magic player data is actually stored locally. It's utterly amazing that there's not massive rampant cheating on it.

IMO, CapCom hasn't done anything I'd give money to since Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition. I've been done with them since then.

why is this is difficult? quit = loss, end of story. you get disconnected, well thats your own fault for having shitty internet.

I can't think of any game that has successfully even bothered to implement any protection against players quitting. It's absolutely freaking ridiculous that these things aren't accounted for from the beginning of *every* game's network design.

It's ABSOLUTELY FKING RIDICULOUS.

A lot of games "solution" is to just prevent you from doing Alt-F4. LOL. As if that stops anything.

More ridiculous? They apparently don't have logs of this. They want everyone to video record the instances.

AMATEUR developers. Not even amateurs. Amateurs would log every event that happens. These guys are *below* amateur.

shouldn't this be indicative of a never released Ep3 ? Rather than HL3 ?

Sadly, for the Gold box games, it looks like it's the PC versions, and not the much better Commodore and Amiga versions. sigh.... I hate that, because I played all these games on the C64 and Amiga... and the PC versions are awful to look at and hear.

This isn't going to stop me from playing them, though.

Great, now we'll never see that Duke Nukem HD Reloaded remake from Interceptor. And now Gearbox and Randy can sit on more IP's that they have done little service too. What a soddin' wanker.

Was that Bombshell, or was Bombshell something else? They say they're "eager to complete development of the ‘Bombshell’ game and get it in the hands of our fans."

Oh, and they're not going to sit on that IP, they're going to exploit the fuck out of it.

It was going to be "Duke Nukem 3D Reloaded" a remake of the original Duke Nukem. Same levels with stuff added to 'em on Unreal 3 engine. Interceptor said it was shaping up. Gearbox shut em down. There are very little screens of it: Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2. When it was shut down, Schreiber stated:

"The problem was that Reloaded, in its then present state, was both a prettier and better game than Forever was. So they [Gearbox] could under no circumstances allow us [Interceptor] to publish it, show it, or do anything at all with it, because it would destroy the sales-opportunities they had left in Forever."

Basically Gearbox/Randy being pikers to make a buck off Forever.

A Duke Nukem reboot in the Unreal engine would rock. Those screenshots look fantastic.

I am currently playing early access Black Mesa (and loving it) while I patiently wait for HL3. Blank

I worked on that, and it was pretty cool. Of course, DNF was Unreal (2).. but we were working on that in UDK/Unreal3.. it was a lot of fun to work on. And several of the people who were not professional game developers prior to that have gone into the business now.

I swear when I see some of these changelogs, it's like they've never developed a PC game before. If the previous games had a detailed graphics options menu, why have a simplistic menu in this one?! As Mr. Biscuit (heh) said, the Far Cry series from 2 on has always had the same graphics options and others added as technology progressed, so why fix what's not broken? And I am talking about Iron Sky, the PC dev of this port, not Rocksteady, as they were also the ones to develop and build the last Arkham game (for PC)...

=-Rigs-=

If I remember correctly, this studio has been very good at releasing vaguely broken garbage, particularly after promising it wouldn't be this time.

My guess is that they start each game from a completely fresh checkout of the base Unreal Engine source code, and that they aren't actually sharing jack-shit between games.

I'm amused by just how much of a shit-show these guys are throwing out here, because this is incredible. Especially after they said this was going to be a great release from the get go, excepting for some acknowledged ATI problems that they expected to get resolved on ATI's end (and ATI is blaming them too)

I don't know if it's piss poor management, or piss poor policies, or piss poor QA, or what, but this development house is basically shit. I don't care what the general public thinks of their games, these guys have turned out several episodes of shit.

If the developers themselves are good, then they need to jump to another ship.. if it's really engineering side where the problems are.. then this is just not going to ever get better, judging by that it seems to have become far worse this time out.

Why would they even kind of care if people play the games?

Also, all the stupid shit Steam does with trading cards, and the summer sale, is just frankly stupid. Anybody who has time to deal with all that bullshit, should probably investigate reallocating their amount of time.

I have not played any of these games, despite owning the previous two as free gifts with upgrades, because it's Batman. I would feel like too much of a 6 year old playing a game with a "superhero" as silly-named as "Batman". In fact, any "superhero" stuff seems childish to me. I know I'm sour but...

Maybe you should google around for "baman" and "piderman".

It's funny, I never got more than 10 minutes into the first of this series because the animation was -so- terrible, -so- poorly done, and at the time it was being hailed as a graphical wonder.

I just don't get it. The animation was SO BAD I COULDN'T PLAY THE GAME because i couldn't stand to LOOK AT IT. And yet it went on to become one of hte hottest games of that year, and one of the hottest game franchises of the last decade.

Freakin incredible.

... hasn't this studio had AMD problems with -every- release at the start?

It's like they don't bother to pull fixes into their next game's engine, or something.

Also, probably the studio is propped up by funds from Nvidia.

Never heard of the developer, or their game. Sounds like they had huge aspirations, and had no idea how to live up to their aspirations. Based on comments I see here, it does sound like some people at least had heard of their game .. and that they might've been living in the same reality distortion field that Mitt Romney's team lived in.
