In other news, the sky is blue, grass green and spring will promptly follow winter.

Stay tuned to anything that may cause to change this - or if someone clues in just in time to make it sound like they suddenly had a fabulous prediction.

John Spencer reminded me of my dad, who coincidentally also died of a heart attack earlier this year. Such sad news...

Depending on how flexible the movie creation controls are and how easy it is to develop and plug in new content, this could become big with the Machinima crowd... That said, it could also introduce a load of pillocks to the Machinima genre and thus it'll be dilluted with crap...

Double edged sword or WHAT!

That's true - but like any other artform that has an easy entry into creation (painting , videography, etc.), only the good works will get any notice.

my first read of the UC blurb came across as: "indicate that 3000AD's latest space sim is on the verge of being declared old..."

hehehehe...

As when I get flash things that do that, it is on both IE and FireFox….but the Splinter Cell ads here never does it for me.

Hmmm, that is pretty interesting. I have seen this same problem on another machine of mine, so I started putting suspicion on the SC ad. Maybe it is the version of Flash 7 player that's installed. I can look into it later today if I have the moment.

Has anyone resolved the Splinter Cell ad issue? I know its not a Blues problem, as I came across the Flash ad again yesterday on IFilm and it drove my CPU to 100%. To confirm it wasnt an Firefox issue, I opened IE to the same page and it gave me the same problem. Immediately afterwards, I came here and saw the same thing.

I know there's no easy resolve to this (short of torture to the ad agency who produced the ad), but I've seen this problem here before (and mentioned) and wasnt able to scour previous posts to see if there's been any resolve to it.

While I look forward to seeing DOOM on the big screen, I think predicting that it will be in theatres by the end of next year, is a bit overly optimistic, particularly if they are still in pre-production.

Level 38. Make sure you play with the grenade amount - you'll need to factor in the gravity to get that middle one in 30.

Wow - you're right, that Appleseed project sounds really exciting. I wonder how far along they are, given some of the articles are over a year old.

Definitely something to keep an ear open for. Thanks for the head's up.

"Diary of a Camper" by the Ranger clan started it all, even before Girlich released his Demo manipulation tools.

Yes, it's a common-known fact - and it's been stated in several articles about Machinima. Unfortunately, the filmmaker never really goes into it's history.

Also, not to step on anyones toes, but why the hell is the ILL-Clan mentioned in every friggin piece you read about machinima? Yes, hardly working was a nice flick, but it also was the only one by ILL afaik.

Well, the ILL Clan is commonly mentioned for a number of reasons, as the group has done quite a bit to bring visibility to the medium. And to date, is one of the only Machinima teams to have won awards in traditional film festivals with their work.

Also, Hardly Workin' is not the only film by the group. Apartment Huntin' (produced in Classic Quake) and Common Sense Cooking - a Machinima film performed and improvised live in front of the Florida Film Festival audience - are other Machinima films by The ILL Clan.

and, before i forget it, why didn't they mention the planned Animated series based on Masamune Shirows Appleseed, that will be produced using a modified game engine, or the incredible Anacronox?

Yeah, its unforunate that Anox doesn't get a mention either (particularly because it is a great film) - again, I think these films aren't mentioned because the documentary maintains a mostly Scottish POV.

Appleseed Machinima? Wow, now that's something I'd like to see.

Yeah, as per John's posting - Fountainhead wasn't mentioned in the documentary, which they should have been. The "In the Waiting Line" is definitely a cool Machinima piece (the first for a signed band, I believe) and it would have been nice to see it in there too.

Maybe if the documentary gets picked up for air in the States, they can give more stateside Machinima teams coverage as well.

Well, look at this way, Blue. If you do invest in the snowblower and nary a flake falls, consider that you've now invested in not having to deal with the snow for a long time.

Thanks for all your hard work Frans. While you're the man behind the man behind the scenes, your efforts were nonetheless noticed.
