Iceland's economic reputation is that of a success story where the government cared more about the people than the banks.
Unlike what is happening in Portugal,Spain,Italy,Greece.

The Icelandic default was always about your average joe who's personal savings disappeared thanks to bad decisions made by Icelandic banks, unlike the other incidents you mentioned where it was more about investors and large depositors. Iceland decided to screw the little people.

Maybe they will now go back to their roots like Triumph Studios did, and do a Kohen 3. I still play Kohen 2 from time to time. But... everyone wants to made mad cash making FPS these days.

I really enjoyed Distant Worlds, but like many here have said it defies reason that there has been no price drop nor any bundle price for a three year old game.

One of the things that really annoys me about Matrix Games is that they have no system in place for you to recover lost serial keys, nor may you re-download the original executable after a period of time. That business practice was common in 2005, but here in 2013 I think they must be the very last game publisher to still be doing that. They just don't seem to be customer friendly.

I haven't got very far into it, but I can say if you were hoping this is the spiritual successor to Dungeon Keeper you would be very disappointed. The only real similarity is that both games are set in a dungeon, and opponents occasionally come in to try and wreck things.

You have more control over your units, and can do a lot of nice customization to your squads. The number of squads is limited (max of 5 squads, 4 units each), although you can have units that are not in squads. Units will not assist one another unless they are in the same squad, such as your healer will only heal it's squad mates.

The dungeon building aspect is very cookie cutter - rooms are based on blueprints so you can not shape an individual room. The layout and traps are pointless since invaders can dig in anywhere to enter, and every wave comes in at a different location.

The forums are alight with bug reports, and there is no manual. It's hard to know what some stuff even is supposed to do.

Combat is done well. You need a good combination within a squad to really do well, and some of the boss fights are impossible without thinking through your tactics (just trowing numbers at a boss will not work).

All in all it's a decent game for the price. It's not a Dungeon Management sim, it's a squad combat sim with some Dungeon management.

Wow, they dropped the Commander Mode which is what was supposed to have made their game different from the other zillion MOBA's. Then the article tries to spin it as being a good things because it wasn't fun, and that show's that Ironclad is committed to quality. Well yeah, but they will still be putting out a generic MOBA.

The only other 'special feature' is a day/night cycle and quests. Really? That's their big contribution to the genre?

I'm disappointed. Sins was one of my all time favorite games and I had hoped for great things out of Ironclad but that is not to be. If they got to work on Sins 2 today it would probably be at least 2018 before they finished. :-(

So, on a more normal topic, question about WvWvW. Played it for awhile this afternoon, it was pretty cool, though it seemed largely pointless as we kept zerging back and forth between an enemy keep and our own home base. They'd rush us, we'd get overrun, they'd follow us to our home base where we'd regroup, we'd drive them back, at which point they would retreat into the keep, and since we didn't have the manpower to break down the gate (which had at least a MILLION hitpoints. I guess it was made from the souls of the damned, or something), and back and forth and back and forth.

Your team was doing it wrong. The zerg thing is a problem even with organized teams, but once a decent leader shows up that people listen to the situation gets better. Could have been the time of day or it could have been your server. The good leaders don't seem to show up till later in the evening, I have noticed.

Only Tier 1 tower gates should ever be tried to be hit down, for everything else you need siege You can't really ever hit down keep gates even when they are T1. You need at least a ram, but preferably two for a tower and at least three for a keep.

The repair situation gets a lot better once you know the appropriate time to run away. If you are defending and your gate is down to 5% it is time to jump off the back wall and run. If your team is about to enter an enemy keep, you let someone else be the first through the door. And in open battles you want to be able to hit the enemy but never be in the front or back of the group. If you are running away from the enemy you had best have one team mate behind you to take the hits/freezes or you will die.

Anyway, I always end up with more loot and silver then I spend on repairs and siege If you want mad money and xp try getting on a ballista at a choke point - that is amazingly awesome, Even after spending silver to build the ballista, when you fire into a hoard that is stopped in the choke you will be one shotting people every time you fire. This only works if your teams is working to keep them choked, but even with a semi-organized defense this isn't too hard.

I just hit level 50 and 35 of those come just from WvW. I've spent @ 4 hours a day in WvW since release. I think for the time spent you can do better in PvE, but I enjoy the WvW.

It's a bit buggy. Maybe the version released on Steam was not the correct release version? Otherwise we have another Sword Of The Stars II situation.

The design seems good, but there are too many issues atm for it to be playable imo.

A state with 1mil residents guaranteeing a bond of $75mil. So every man, woman, and child in the state gets to 'contribute' $75 to this fiasco. Ouch.

I hope every state resident at least get's a free copy of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

I happened to have the day off, and even so I only got to play single player a couple of hours total given all the problems.

My biggest gripe is that it seems.... boring. I think Dungeon Siege II was better. Is it just the toon I'm playing - a Wizard? Are some of the other classes better?

I don't like the point & click to both move and attack. If you fire at something and your click is off you end up charging them instead, which is not good for a Wizard.

Sounds interesting, if it is in a similar vein as Tradewars (BBS version) and Starflight. Price will be a consideration - if he is crazy enough to charge $10/month it had BEST be AAA quality (which I doubt he can do).

Yeah, this would be a day one purchase for me if it was not the DRM. There is so much else out there right now...

I remember when I bought Settlers V from UbiSoft, which was another DRM-ridden mess that required a constant online connection to play single player. I bought it day one, and their authentication servers were down for the better part of a week so no one could play the game at all. I'm not going to take THAT ride again.

The launch is not going so well. The version on Steam is an early beta build. Developers are scrambling to get the right version out, but no one knows when that will happen.

Lot's of these balls have been dropped lately. First Stronghold 3 and now this...

LOL, Orcs Must Die! and Dungeon Defenders seem to be very similar, and they are both going to be released within two weeks of each other. Ouch! Trendy says that they have had Dungeon Defenders ready since December, and the hold up has been publisher issues. They must be really upset now!
