A lot of PC players were pissed about Bioshock coming to 360 first. How did you ascertain that Hump's comments had anything to do with the 360? Or are you a PS3 fanboi;P

Definitely going to be on 360. Not sure about PS3.

Has taken me an awful long time to come to grips with this game, but I'm getting there. Looking forward to it's release now.

Firstly. I don't know either way, but I'd be surprized if Valve were being paid by any publisher. Valve would be taking their cut directly out of what you pay buying it through Steam.

As for you, moo. If I'd been wronged by Valve/Steam as you say, I'd be following Enahs train of thought. Of course, that would be costing me attorney fees and everytime I ask mine a question, it's a painful and costly experience.
Now, I'm not trying to make fun of you or your situation in any way here moo. I would seriously just bite the bullet and send another email to Valve support in reply to theirs banning your account and make a serious attempt at an honest apology. It make get your account back, it may get you nothing. I'm pretty sure all your posts about your problems with Steam may be getting something off your chest, but it's not getting your account back. So, spend your time more poductively and write them instead. Feel free to continue bashing Steam regardless, if you wish. But why just give up on your account. At worst you swallow a bit of pride and write an email. You've already lost, so really have nothing to lose;P

And while I tend to use the word fuck with abandon, I don't use it around people I don't really know. Some people are offended by it, some are not. Simpler to avoid the risk.

This is beyond a joke.

It was only a couple of months ago I had one of the discs in my raid array drop dead, so I replaced them both with another brand. However, since I was oohing and ahhing about upgrading my PC, I never reinstalled my whole system. I just loaded Vista in demo mode so I don't have to risk any shit with MS when I reactivate it. So, without knowing any of this crap about Bioshock, I've loaded it on an operating system that's got 30 days left to run.

I think it pays to make sure you see the LCD screen you're interested in running before buying one. I've got a Samsung 204B 20" LCD which is great IMO. My laptop is an Asus with a 'Brightview' screen which is fantastic and I just sort of assumed this was some tech Asus must do, so hooked out the wallet and bought a 22" top of the range Asus LCD for my desktop. It may say 'Brightview' on it, but it's nothing like their laptop screens. Also, compared to my Samsung, the sharpness isn't there. So, the better half got the 22" Asus and I stuck with my Samsung 20".

They're cheap enough now, but even when the specs are comparable, you see a lot of difference in picture quality. I'd not buy one again without having a really good look at it demoing stuff I use often.

Hey! Like everyone, I'm dying to play it. My expectations of Steam were high after HL2, which activated at the stroke of midnight.

And doesn't saying Riley's name cause him to turn up, like if you say Derek Smart three times in succession?

Okay, we're 5 minutes in or thereabouts and still waiting for them to activate this.

I don't easily admit that at my age, I'm sitting here tossing up on what to have for breakfast while watching Steam's countdown clock.

Having a very hard time not going and picking this up today. The only downfall of my Steam purchase I failed to consider was being able to buy it earlier here:(

Well, for all those complaining about how the long the day is waiting for this game. It's even harder for me because I have this preordered at EB, but bought it through Steam the day it became available because it was near enough $30.00 cheaper. Now, I can either wait for tomorrow and activate my Steam copy or give in and go pickup my preorder in 1.5 hours, which would be rather stupid.

I can get bonus points for this fuelling the Retail Vs. Steam, too, right?;P

I'm prepared to agree the learning curve is steep.... I've been trying to engrose myself in this game, but it's a big change to just my usual Quake.

As for graphics and performance. I cranked everything up to maximum and I think there is one setting that allows for 'Ultra'. I think I only went 2FSAA, though and run it at 1280 x 1024. Runs smoothly on my machine and it's not state of the art. AMD 4600x2, 2GB RAM and 7900GT running Vista. I think the latest NVidia drivers were targeted specifically at this BETA and that may be why it runs way better than I expected.

I had been expecting to need to upgrade for this, Bioshock and UT3. But unless one of them absolutely tanks on this system, I won't need to.

Harley Earl was responsible for most of the styling of GM cars from the same era as Bioshock is set in.

While it's entirely possible, as far as I know, he fathered Pumpkinhead. He's probably best known for being the father of the Corvette.

A lot of people have played the demo for it on the 360. To say it's awesome is somewhat of an understatement.

I loved the look and general idea of Bioshock with it's sort of Jules Verne meets Harley Earl age of style. Then I saw a gameplay video which put me off. I hoped for the best inspite of the odds and even downloaded the demo off Live. I was at the store preordering for PC within an hour of finishing it.

Not too many games come along these days that just blow you away with the style, graphics, gameplay, atmosphere and storyline. Going by the demo and now the reviews, I think people are excited about it because it seems to have nailed all the above.
