I'm going to have my two cents worth and say I think it's going to be something from Blizzard for sure.... I can't think of anything, not even from the early days of EA, that could be described as 'glorious.'

I'm also going to hope it's StarCraft.... loved that game!

When HL2 first came out, I had no video or sound glitches at all. I was also running nVidia's onboard Soundstorm for audio and an AGP GF5700 for video.

Course, then they patched the fucker and I got the stuttering;P.... a later patch fixed it, too...

Maybe I'm taking it wrong.... but the way my mind interpreted that was.....

Whoever wrote that constructed a masterpiece. Everytime I see something about DNF, I open that up and read it through again for a good laugh. Still, as previously stated, I will buy it..... even if it's just to give back for some of the laughs I've had at the expense of its development!....

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I read there's no publisher for DNF now.... think it was news over a year ago, actually....

Right now, Carmack plays with rockets in his spare time, apparently..... I'm fairly certain he'll have landed one on Venus and taken some digital snaps of the landscape for the next DooM iteration before DNF ships.

Still, the moment DNF comes out, as with Prey, I'm going to grab it. I'm hopeful as can be, I'm just not holding my breath;P

Some do, some don't... for me, I'll take Bink when it's on offer over anything else.

I think Test Drive for the Amiga was one of the first games I really loved... This is a must have for my 360, but can't see myself going for it on pc.

I'm prepared to concede that shareware may have been handled very differently over here compared to the US, but the first shareware I ever got, which was either Catacombs Abyss or Wolfenstein, cost me $2.50 and I needed to pay further to get the rest of the game.

And after having hit the button to submit my post, I now recall it wasn't actually a charge for the game, but for the putting the shareware on a 5.25 floppies.

I toyed with the idea of buying a game from Direct2Drive today and remembering these threads about Starforce, and the fact I've no idea what it does other than piss people off and eat CD drives, I decided to make damn sure it's not something used with what Direct2Drive sell.

Apparently it's not, which is nice. However, whilst trying to findout the answer, I came across Starforces own website and it's many threads containing unhappy campers. Starforce says this thing is entered in the registry and runs from bootup and awaits the user to start whichever application it's meant to protect. This alone is enough to make sure I don't buy anything with it.

But which episodic content have we been fleeced by?.... Apart from UT2K3, of course;P

In my opinion, any successful franchise becomes episodic. Valve is speeding up the process, which I kinda like... The whole cost per hours doesn't ring a big bell for me.... I don't know how long a game takes me to finish. I never ever time it. At the end of a game, I either enjoyed it and can't wait for more or I put it down to not being my thing.

Also, I liked some of those big open, empty, areas in HL2.... gave me a real sense of desolation..... like the world had been fleeced, prior to us personally via episodic content;P

I'76 was a lot of fun.... I'82 kind of sucked, though....

I want another Groove Champion, but keep him back in the 70's damnit!...

Come on people!... Surely this could become an anti Steam thread with a bit more effort;P

And never has there been a game where the desire to shoot and kill my own team was stronger that that of HL2.
