Happens with everything, yet it'll always make you feel a bit pissed.
We got the 360 at launch and have no issues with lockups or anything. Only thing I hate about it is loadtimes for PGR3, so I've hardly touched the system at all.
If, as that article suggests is possible, they decide to factor in a speed improvement with the update, then I'd be far from happy with MSFT. Then again, all I'd do is take my 360 back and say it's not working and they'll hand me another one, more than likely, with the updated CPU. I'd still be pissed at MSFT, though;P

You're right,Bowie is awesome.... pretty sure that costume was from that film he was in called 'Underground'.... although after some of his stuff past, it wouldn't stun me any to see him walking down the street wearing that;P

You pretty much pegged it right there. A car jumping from the hight depicted would not be too damn rigid... it would travel, bend and bounce on it's suspension and create more than a bit of dust and dirt. It's jumping into a construction yard, which appears to have an unfinished floor of earth, yet it just sits and blows a bit of steam from under the car. When the nose hits the ground, it just deflects to the side.

I'm not sure on how to rectify the situation, but some shaders or something to create some dust or haze around the impact, perhaps. For me, it just dropping and sliding like a slab of cement with no sign of area impact looks wrong.

This new vid is pretty cool...but that car coming over the wall needs work..... If you're going to give me something cool like that to draw my focus, I want to see it and think how awesome it is. Instead, I'm thinking how fake it looks. The rest of the video is really good and for some reason they gave the work experience apprentice the job of animationg the main scene event.

I've only been playing the SP to get some idea of story behind Emergence and it's been a fun old romp. I recently played Quake2 again when it came with Quake4 and I think it aged better than SIN. Also played FAKK2 again and it's still one of my fave games, so I'm holding much hope for Emergence.

My current install of XP Pro has been running since May 2004 and is operating fine.
I used to format every so often as a matter of course and always if I upgraded a component or two..... so, it's with some sadness that I admit how long this install has been running, as it shows how much power the better half wields in our house:(
However, with ETQW on the way, I put my foot down and got myself a new system last weekend;) Still using this system cause I couldn't get the new one to work... Turns out what I thought was a spare power-plug and tied out of the way, actually was some new thingy for ATX power and the whole thing won't work without it. Things sure do change lots in the two years my Windows has been running!

Unreal Tournament... Unreal Tournament 2003... Unreal Tournament 2004.... Absolute tons of free-shit from Epic and it's community at no charge during 2003/2004 versions...

I have to admit, I'm not really following you....

Quake, Quake2, Quake3, Quake4, Quake Wars (just upgraded for this, so it better be out this year;)).... SOF, SOF2... please god, be a SOF3.... and that's a game that would be perfect for episodic... give me some key missions based on recent world events.... HL, OpFor, BS, HL2 and more than a few of us are waiting eagerly for Ep1...

You could go on forever with this.... Ultima, Warcraft, yada, yada, yada.... if something is good, people want more of it.... IMO, Epic are rank amateurs when it comes to milking a franchise compared to some.

Now the Sims on the other hand....lol;P

Don't recall the Antlions being in Xen... Can't really think of anywhere you got to kill the Vortigaunts in HL2, either. I remember using every weapon I had on the Vortigaunt living in the tunnel in the Airboat level and he just kept talking and talking, which kinda made me wanna kill him even more.... then I met my teammates in the streets later in the game and I'd wished I'd saved that ammo for them.

Well, here in good old Aus.... our Airforce has some number of FA-18's and, of which, about 20% are actually in flying condition according to all newspaper reports.... so, I can see their need for a simulator;P

All we have to do now is hope that the Maricopa County Brownies only invade us with a simulator, too.... lmao

Citadel was probably my least fave part, too. I liked the Airboat levels most and, of course, Ravenholm. Parts of the Buggy were brilliant, too. That blocked tunnel was straight out of Stephen Kings - The Stand and had me even more creeped out than Ravenholm.

I liked the sense of awe the Citadel invoked during that ride in the carrier, giving you some insight as to what was going on there. Oddly enough, my pc played HL2 with everything maxed out, but soon as you got into the Citadel, it started dropping noticeable fps.

I had no problems with HL2 and Steam, so I've pre-ordered this,too...

For the 2 + GB it's taking up, I'm hoping there's quite a bit to it. If it's half as good as FAKK2, I'll be a more than happy camper.

The game prices for the 360 here in Australia are criminal. They all seem to be $119.00. I got some EB Games VIP card when I preordered, which gives me the chance to buy a couple of games for $40.00 off... but one is Blazing Angels, which I don't care for and the other is Quake 4, which I've already got for the pc. What the five games I have cost, I could buy the damn console.

I convinced myself they'd drop eventually, so did the preorder and got one, but I don't see them as being worth it. I've got PGR3, NBA2006, Madden2006, Perfect Dark and Ghost Advanced Warfighter... So, I popped the PGR3 disc in to play a quick race. Looks awesome, but a lot of the effects added for PGR2 seem to be missing. I decided to race again and with all the time I spent waiting for it to load up a new race, I got bored, turned it off and haven't touched the system since.

I'll no doubt use it again, of course, but I'm more pissed off with it than anything else. Add to that the steep price of games and it's got nothing in its favor IMO. I can load up PC games on this old bitch faster than my 360. Plus, there's very little content suitable for young children, so it's still sharing space with the Gamecube.

The only plus in all of this is it prompted me to chase up a copy of Psychonauts from the U.S. When it arrives I'll go back to loving my old XBox.

I could be wrong.... it's happened once or twice before;P

However, they can add content to XBox games via Live, so I guess it's possible they'll be able to patch it via Live, too...

Good thing I saw this thread. I picked up the Collectors Edition for the 360 this afternoon thinking I'd give it a shot and see what everyone's raving about, but put it down and decided I'd read a review or two first. If there's a crash bug on the 360 version I'm not buying it.

Crappy support is just unforgivable though:(

As for popularity, I've seen more than a few articles describing StarCraft as one of the most popular games in Korea still.

I had no interest in SC Ghost, but I'd be right into another SC RTS like a rat up a drainpipe.

Edit because I failed to read what I was responding to... doh!
