News Comments > The Otterman Empire Announced

This actually looks pretty cool. Dino's and rocket packs?? Win/Win. I won't try Steam's early access any more, but added this one to my wish list so I can keep an eye on it.

Nice. I am totally looking forward to using anything labeled "Imperial Defenses".

News Comments > Freespace 2 Free on GOG.com

I get the realistic physics angle, which is also not my thing if I can't realistically use a mouse as the primary controller for the ship, but what I was referring to was something more. For example, when Elite came out the mouse and keyboard had the same level of responsiveness (perhaps just in the beta, it's been a while and I played with that as well). Due to "feedback from the community" (e.g. whining from keyboard people) the mouse was "dumbed down" so it did not offer the same level of responsiveness as the keyboard. I guess the thought was because the mouse was so much more functional in terms of aiming / targeting and so forth than the keyboard that keyboard players weren't competitive or whatever. So they changed it.

I already have this too, but what I am interested in is a newer flight sim with a similar flight model. Specifically the ability to use the mouse as the primary controller without "artificial lag" to ensure the keyboard people are able to play too (like a regular FPS but in a space ship with freaking lasers). FS2 had this handled pretty well and I haven't found anything since that has been as capable.

I don't want the game, but that f'ing commercial was awesome. Kudos to Ubisoft's marketing department on this one.

This looks pretty good actually. Solid graphical look and the gameplay looks fun. Hopefully vampires don't become the new zombies.

Pshah! I see your 1981 Nova Games edition and raise you an additional 1998 Hasbro edition. I am very sentimental about A&A. This version looks pretty good and has single-player as I no longer care to get stomped by some know-it-all 12 year old. As an aside, I was in the book store the other day and saw A&A: Zombies. Admittedly I am worn out with zombies, but this still looked pretty sweet.

Holy jumpin' Jehoshaphat! That soundtrack!

I'd dig a nice space combat game with responsive mouse flight and plenty of stuff to blow up. And not the soundtrack included with this video.

As an aside, I can't imagine any modern gaming platform interface being worse than Steam's. Turns out Epic made it happen.

Someone give me the skinny on what this game is like now. More RTS? More Civ? MOO3? Throw me a bone here! I can't seem to get a good feel from the trailers and gameplay videos.

News Comments > World of Tanks Collector's Edition in April

4. Re: World of Tanks Collector's Edition in April Mar 1, 2019, 14:49 Keith

When did EA take over World of Tanks? I think you are just on an anti-EA kick and have a hard time getting your head out of your ass.
I play regularly and don't pay anything most of the time. Occasionally I'll buy some premium time or what-not, but by and large I feel competitive without paying cash.
I recently upgraded my PC and can now see the upgraded graphics engine from last year. Made a huge difference visually. Previous online games I've played have died off or got so close to dying off that continuing to play was just embarrassing. World of Tanks continues to be fun and they continue to upgrade and expand it.

Was one of my favorite MMO's as well. Unfortunately it hasn't aged well and it's too hard for me to play due to the low quality graphics. I am surprised Funcom keeps releasing other games when AO was their best achievement (albeit with a nasty launch) and Conan and Secret World just don't have the personality that AO did.

I was pretty impressed with this- finally a BG game worth a moment of my time. Only gripe I had was it was clearly aimed at consoles, as some of the controls and perspective shifting are "console standard". Now if someone would get off their duff and build me a decent Star Wars strategy game, I would be set for a few...

5. Re: Funcom Announcement Plans Feb 23, 2018, 13:02 Keith

Anarchy Online, once it had received about 6 months post-release polishing, quickly becaome one of my favorite games and I still think it had the most unique character development throughs skills & equipment of any MMO I tried (and I tried a ton). Fast forward to Conan, which sucked, and then That even less memorable one (Secret World maybe?), and I have some pretty low expectations for Funcom. I would definately be pleasantly surprised (read: genuinely happy and WTF?) if a AO 2 was announced. Yet... yet, I am not holding my breath.

Wow. If nothing else you have to give it to the AoE team for milking this until the very end. I wish they would add microtransactions and loot boxes though.

News Comments > WARTILE Released

3. Re: WARTILE Released Feb 9, 2018, 11:34 Keith

I've had this on my Steam wishlist for some time. I kept seeing forum posts complaining about the real-time aspect of what looks like a turned-based game though. Anyone who has tried it care to offer an opinion? Also got an email saying this is currently 25% off, so that is nice if the quality of play is there.

Except the SW: EAW game sucked. It sold Ok, and has continued to be sold on Steam at dirt-cheap, but it's basically just a crappy game capitalizing on the SW license.

Just saw this for the first time this past week. Realized it looks a lot like Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth 2: Soulblighter. Since I'm a huge Myth fan and I haven't seen anything even remotely close in more than a decade, I have to say I'm looking forward to this.

Casulties!
