Hopefully it isn't as full of cheaters as some of the past comments have made it out to be.

It was. It was less an issue if you were playing an Enforcer because the major hacking clan was Crimson Order, and they played Enforcers mostly as far as I know. They got scared for a little while when a few prominent cheaters were banned, but then the announcement that APB was shutting down came out and the cheaters knew there would be no more consequences from RTW for their actions. People were talking about it openly in chat. I played every day for a couple hours and during the time frames I played, i would say fully 30-40% of the opposition was using hacks(gut feeling, based on known hack behaviors). Last day, I think it was closer to 60-75%. It was rampant.

Maybe I'm weird, but I really liked this game. I didn't like the cheaters, and the game certainly needs some work, but I honestly had a great time with my friends on this game. I'm certain that K2 will address the cheating issues, and fix what's wrong. What I think will be interesting is to see if they remove the swearing from the game in order to reach a wider audience. (Honestly, every NPC in the game swears often and hard. Consistently. It made me laugh to see a guy dressed like a businessman swear like a sailor.)

Sweet! I've enjoyed The Sims and The Sims2 + expansions... Looking forward to #3. I enjoy building homes. Crap. Now I have to go install The Sims 2 and play again. =) And yes, I'm a hardcore gamer. Yes, I'm good at FPS games. Yes, I still play games like The Sims. It's good stuff. I'm fairly certain some of you Sims naysayers are closet Sims players. =) =) =)

You're sort of right, but you have to understand, the bad rep that Disney received as a result of the poor quality of their Direct-To-DVD movies is due to ex-CEO Michael Eisner's business practices. Honestly, the guy would fit right in at EA. We are still seeing effects of that "management" even today, but the latest direct to DVD stuff is a cut above. Tinkerbell is a great example. When it was found out the crap that was about to be released under the name "Tinkerbell", crap hit the fan. The movie was re-written even though it was near complete. I can only hope that they follow suit with games produced through EA if the buyout happens.

I've never done a midnight madness thing before... I think I'll try it this time. Hopefully the local Gamestop won't have a huge line...

No longer relevant? Spore is shaping up to be one of the biggest successes of the year and the designer is somehow no longer relevant? I must be quite a tool because I don't follow your logic.

Tribes 2... That sucks... I still log in once in a while for some quick pickup game action. The game is still great. The T2 community at one time had the manpower to do something about this, but I doubt it can/will happen now. I guess I should log in and play a few more times before November comes and we can't play it anymore....

Caesar IV was so full of snore-sauce that I still feel cheated that I paid $10 for it in the bargain bin. Ceasar III was waaay better. No loss here...

I bought the game. It works. If I run out of installs, and the evil EA Empire says I can't have more installs, I will grab the crack. End of story for me.

I seriously doubt EA is going to be stingy with extra installs of your product. They can see the code that's being used, and they have an idea if it's one that was just installed 50 times in Russia last week. I'm confident that those who are honest will be able to install the game until EA doesn't care anymore, at which time they'll issue a patch.

Game rocks. I'm on my third time through... Not sure what the heck people are smoking that aren't liking it. I guess they just have very different tastes from me... *shrug*

The one ray of hope I see for this if it's as bad as everyone is saying is Games Workshop. They're extremely protective of their IP. If it's really bad, I hope they step in and say "NO. FIX IT.".

There's been a longstanding desire by both fans and Relic to put tyranids in the game, but according to Relic the DOW1's engine couldn't do them justice. I would be surprised if they hadn't corrected that issue with DOW2, and as such, tyranids is probably one of the first races that will be in the game.

Why should Anthony Puzo make $1 million just because of his last name? Grown adults shouldn't leech off the success of their parents. They should make their own success.

Anthony isn't trying to get the money because it's his last name. He's doing it because he has a legal contract with Paramount saying he should receive a certain amount of money from any proceeds made off The Godfather IP. It doesn't matter what the content of the game was. It doesn't matter if the game is a freaken' pacman clone. If the decision is made to use The Godfather name to increase sales, then the contract for usage of IP is in force, and should be. This isn't about Anthony Puzo's greed. It's about Paramount's.

Since Puzo probably didn't die poor, I'd rather he (and others in his position) leave the money he already made to his estate and let the IP open up for others to try their hand with it.

If you want to make money from your IP, you do it through licensing. If thats the model you follow, then suing the pants off of those who don't pay up is kind of what you have to do. Otherwise you don't get money.

If you don't want to make money, or don't care about it, there's still good reason to lock down your IP. You want only positive usage of your IP, so you set rules to how it can be used and by whom. Anybody who doesn't follow the rules, you sue, for the good of the IP.

In this case, there was an agreement between businesses. IP was used, a game was created, and one of the parties says they never received their due. Asking your business partner to fulfill the agreement in now way stifles creativity. If anything, it encouraged it, since by allowing the game to be made, good or bad, somebody took a crack at making something with the IP. I see nothing wrong with what the Puzo estate is doing. They have very few alternatives that make any sort of sound business sense.

Oh yay... lets play Mad Libs!

While I personally think it's one of the best plural noun I've ever verb past tense, I don't think it's for everyone. I'm also happy for the unparalleled success of noun, and I hope noun and the upcoming noun do very well too. Because ultimately I believe the noun is going to grow, and with the success of these plural noun, more and more people will be exposed to the noun. And therefore more and more people will be verb ending in -ing plural noun and building communities in the noun scene that we individually prefer

There are already "fake" ads in the game now. What's the difference if they're real? Might even ad a tinge of reality rather than seeing the same 3 billboards over and over. I don't see it as hurting me at all. The in-game ads in Planetside didn't detract from the game either.

This is yet another example of a vocal minority giving the wrong idea about a game. Or at least that's what it appears to me. The server browser could use a little work, and the disconnects happen a couple times a night. That's not ideal, but it's far from a broken game. Most of the night is spent in happy ass-kicking bliss...
