Hmmm... Only a closed Beta was utilized prior to going gold.
Not sure that instills confidence.

The game "has surpassed quality standards."
Since it was developed by NetDevil would those quality standards be the same as Auto Assaults?

Don't you dare dis Auto Assault! I'm still in mourning

I think they are just saying that multiplayer (whatever that is, co-op etc) will be handled though GFWL, which of course is free to use. I'm pretty sure you'll have to buy the game first though

Age of Empires Online is not F2P.

Recommiting with 2 new pc games? one being an online-only Free to play game and the other being flight simulator (which i wouldn't even consider a game although that could be debated).

Come on.

Shame they aren't planning any expansions or sequels. Really enjoyed the game quite honestly. Thought it was going to be total crap from the videos and screens, but turned out to be quite fun and engaging.

Hopefully they change their minds on that one.

That SHMUP game seems abysmal... lol.

Plenty of way better SHMUPs out there (mostly made by Japanese and only on consoles or MAME, but whatever).

Did you try out the demo? SHUMP is certainly not abysmal. It may not be an incredible or amazing game, but it's decent to good depending on your viewpoint.

Also, feel free to list some links to these other shumps etc. I've been trying to find some good ones (and hard ones) for a couple of days now with no luck to speak of.

Sadly there aren't many people playing online. However there are dedicated servers, and if you join one it usually loads up pretty fast. And the game is extremly fast paced and quite fun. The devs listen to the community and chat with us on the Steam forums (and their blog etc) so there's that too.

Metal Drift is one of the most underrated little indie games out there. Blue I'm so glad you posted this. The game needs more attention from the big dogs in the PC gaming news arena and you fit the bill

Nice little game. Not quite as good as say, Titan Quest, but it certainly fills that old skool hack n slash RPG niche.

Yes, it's whole new audience because these games are so old no one who played them the first time around on the PC or Genesis is still alive and playing games on the PC.

Odd, I played them the first time around and I'm still playing games on the PC...

Bethesda (or more exactly Zenimax the parent company) owns id Software now.

They also launched a free "demo/trial" now as well, with no time limitations just level limitations and some other restrictions.

Gaming companies and people wonder why we raise a stink when we can not run our own servers (MW2, Bad Company 2), have to deal with publisher logins, and social networks.

It is amazing really.

Except Bad Company 2 has dedicated servers, just not dedicated servers run by the general public.

I seem to remember one of these existed for Half-Life back when it was on WON. Was pretty fun, though the name escapes me. It never got too far in development, but it was playable and had at least a few servers running.

It was called "The Trenches" I believe.

The game is incredibly fun and action packed. It could use some touches here and there but for an indie studio it's a damn fine little game. Totally worth the money imo.

This was the part of the article I was referencing:

Yeah I realize this Blue. The only problem is, ever since CSS came out (well, pretty much) most gaming sites have used Counter-Strike or CS to reference both CS and CSS (which is insanely annoying).

Please don't think I was saying something negative about the article you posted. I was simply saying, from the gist of the IGN piece, and the screenshots, it's pretty obvious this is based off Source and not GoldSRC.

The IGN article made it fairly clear (at least to me) that this game runs on the Source engine, not the original Counter-Strike engine aka the Half-Life 1 engine.

Either way, I can't wait. We are talking about the guy who helped create probably the most sucessful MP shooter of all time. Anything he works on should be interesting to say the least.

Added the ability to disable sticky aim with dual guns

That's in the changelog. The cover system works as intended, and isn't "consoley crap" as you say. It's an FPS cover system, and quite a good one I'd say no?
