Does this have any single-player content, or is it just multiplayer? If there was some kind of single-player mode (even bots), I'd be interested.

No single player option at all. There is a tutorial you can run, which is against bots (so why a skirmish with bots isn't in the game is beyond me honestly) but that's it.

Game is awesome and fun as hell. Also, really buggy. Coming from publisher Paradox it's no surprise of course. Fatshark has another awesome game on their hands here though (Lead and Gold and Krater are both gems also imo) so hopefully patches will do their job and fix it up real good.

People are still playing this?

Why exactly does it surprise you that people still play this?

Also, why is it in nearly every other news post about a game getting an update or whatever, someone has to post "Are people still playing this?!?!" ?

Also, they aren't Blizzard and don't have millions upon millions to polish a game until it shines like a jewel. They have to rely on us gamers to help them test and shine up their game. And they sure do listen us, and they change their game in response to most of the criticisms we've levied on the game.

Then that is even worse, who want's to play an immersive story line with dozens of spam-bots, chinese farmers and assorted internet randomness in a game, or the chance for a random player to grief you into dieing?

Yeah...

Except the game has none of those things in it. There are zero spam bot (or bots of any kind), there are no farmers and as far as I know you can't grief very easily in the game either.

This isn't really my kind of game, but the fact that these guys are so bad at marketing makes me think that they'll be good at making the game. What they have looks pretty solid already, and it sounds like they have a well laid plans of what they want to build out.

Has anyone played what they currently have?

I've been playing it off and on for years (they've been making it for like, 4 or 5 years now I think lol) and it's pretty fun actually. Recently they've started alot more work on it, but there just aren't many players sadly. Taking on giant insect space ships in some of zones is really cool and with some high level guys with you, makes for some explosiony goodness.

I'd say give it a try, it's a fairly small download (like, 120 megs or so) and pretty stable (last I played anyway) for an "alpha". I just hope they can FINISH the game at some point and officially launch it.

Sleepy Puppies demo wasn't bad. Still looks awful and plays totally consolized but I'll grab it at the $10 or under mark for the Steam Xmas sale.

Are you sure you played Sleeping Dogs? Because the demo I played on PC sure as hell looked damn fine to me. And with the high res texture pack, it looks quite stunning (especially compared to it's console cousins).

GB? GB QL?

Also, if you want to see more of Tim, there's always those extensive documentaries going on for their new adventure game.

GB = Giantbomb
QL = Quicklook from Giantbomb

I posted about internet game issues with the game, and two guys from Double Fine (at 10 PM at night no less) were happy to post and try to help out. Including the god-like Brad Muir who I have much man-love for (if you've seen him on any of his Giantbomb appearances you know why lol). Needless to say it's pretty nice of them to be doing that. But then again 10 PM here is only 7 PM where they are, even so that's past work hours for normal folks

They do seem like a nice bunch of folks, and I hope the game does well for them.

You do know this game has been in development for like, a long time right? Before SOE snagged it up 2 or 3 months ago, it was known as Hedone Online and was in closed beta (which I was in btw) for quite awhile. Also, depending on who you believe and what you want to believe, it was also Parabellum previously also.

Ughm might be the same models and whatnot, but not the same games.. I played both of those in beta and its not them. Parabellum was a lot better game IMO too, just was no point to it.

Its common to share engines and models etc and build off that... I believe APB was originally the Scarface landscape, sure seemed like it to me in early beta, could see the coastline etc... But assumers can be wrong so dont quote me

Well Hedone and Bullet Run are the same game, that much is true. If you played Hedone you certainly know that

Looks like it was built on the Quake2 engine.

I wasn't aware UE3 engine visuals were that dated. I guess I was wrong?

It would depend on the artists, would it not?

Anyway, that looks nothing like Quake 2. Or even Quake 3. Maybe Doom 3.

Of course it would highly depend on the artists creating the in game assets. I think we can all agree even an old ass engine like the Quake 1 engine, with the right tweaks and assets can look amazing even by todays standards (ie: Nexiuz the original, Xonotic etc). That being said, you'd have to be pretty color blind or even worse to think Bullet Run looks like a Quake 2 engine game

I still have the New Mutants (or maybe early X-Force) comics where he was introduced, and I sure as hell don't remember him being some sorta spaz-iod retard? Then again I quit collecting comics shortly after that, did I miss something in the last 20 years?

If I remember correctly he was introduced in the X-Force comic as a villain. He became popular, and was made into an anti-hero character. I still feel he's only popular now because he "breaks" the fourth wall while the other characters in the comic have no idea what's going on. It does make for some good humor sometimes, but I think Deadpool is seriously overrated.

I mean sure they fleshed him out aka Weapon XI program, has the accelerated healing ability, super human strength and agility (though the strength part has been glossed over recently if I recall) etc. But he's just a wise ass version of Wolverine if you ask me, without the chip on his shoulder or the bad assery that Wolverine has.

The thing that sets the game apart, is that you can create your own levels and then share them with everyone. Of course, I believe that ability is behind the paywall (I think, don't quote me on that) as you have to pay their coin version or whatever to be able to share a map you make. I think anyone can go and make a map, but only those who pay can either save it, or share it.

Either way, it's a fun little game. I don't know what anyone was expecting with it, but it was more or less a Minecraft clone with an actual FPS involved. The devs listened and added a lot of stuff in the launch version, hell they added turrets!

Thanks for that insightful comment and expanding on it as well. I am impressed with the description you gave.

I can expand on it.......Ubisoft. Soon to be a.k.a. Poopysoft.

As a PC gamer I should hate Ubisoft pretty much without exception. But I could careless about DRM. I'm not a pirate, my internet connection never goes out, and I like quite a few Ubisoft titles. On the other hand, I do have to defend the fact that always on DRM stinks for some.

Still, I wouldn't go so far as to call them Poopysoft

Maybe KindacrappyDRMsoft?
