I'll be keeping tabs on this one for sure. I'm a 40k table top gamer and would love to see a good game in this universe, although I am apprehensive about making it work for a console.

Did they fix load times and hacking yet? Haven't bothered playing after being sucked to a location and killed two days in a row. The load time is atrocious, but maybe that is something on my end, although all my buddies seem to have the same issue. It was a fun game until these issues.

Yeah, this game is a lot of fun so far. Our group is really enjoying the progression and we just hit nightmare mode dungeons. To get into nightmares, you have to solo kill this dude named the gatekeeper. It took me dozens of times and is an interesting idea to check gear/skill of a player before letting them into harder instances.

The boss mechanics are really fun and varied. Sure, there is a lot of don't stand in puddles, etc., but there are also new mechanics that are very fun to learn.

I've gotten my money's worth already compared to other games, even if it gets stale after a few months. If you are looking for a new game to waste time in, it's worth the buy. Don't let the frustrated trolls on here decide what you play. Enjoy.

Well, I've been having a lot of fun with the game. Here sre some really cool things about this game.

  • It's a mature game. There are a lot of cut scenes and visuals that are definitely not intended for those under 18.
  • The skill point system is very cool. It's been mentioned before but I just have to reiterate how great it is. It's a theory crafters wet dream. There are so many combinations that it is a tad overwhelming at first.
  • Progression is done very well. I am currently questing in the 3rd zone and I am getting ability/skill points to spend at a pretty fast rate with the XP I'm getting. The way the system is, it costs more and more points to buy the higher level abilities/skills. What is really cool is that if you have a buddy start the game and you want to go quest with him without face rolling everything, you just pick two weapons that you haven't started spending points on and go quest with him. Since gaining points doesn't get any harder and the quests reset after 24ish hours, you can do all the same stuff with them while leveling new skills/abilites at the same rate as them.
  • The dungeons so far are really good. Our group is running the 3rd one now in Egypt and there is very little trash and a lot of boss fights. The mechanics are solid and it definitely takes a little while to learn them.

I hate the DRM, the intermittent server lag, and the bi-weekly day long patches for what is essentially a single player game, but I will point out one discrepancy with the above article/post versus what it actually says on the blizzard support site. Their site says:

Note: Most Diablo III Starter Edition restrictions will remain in place until payment verification is fully complete. This may take up to 72 hours.

When I buy something, the payment clears almost immediately. Maybe that's just initial verification or something though.

They should change their site to say, you can't play until your credit card clears. You couldn't buy a boxed game at a store if your card was rejected.

I read the comments on a lot of the blue's news stories and have come up with a formula for 80% of the comments. Let me know what errors I need to correct.

X game is due to come out next year.

1) If X = any EA game, then comment = "Fuck EA and their greedy asses! I wouldn't play this if they gave ME $60 and some bacon!"
2) If X = any MMO, then comment = "another failed attempt at making something good. This will be F2P within 2 days. lulz."
3) If X = anything related to CoD, see #1.
4) If X = any sequel, then comment = "They never fixed the bug that caused me to lose my toast in the 1st game. PASS!"
5) If X = any FPS title, then comment = "Unless this has mod support that let's me and the 100 other people that write mods make our mod related to the Twilight series, then I will wait 4 this to be in the $5 bin."
6) If X = any Indie or Valve title, then comment = "So excited! X will be the best Y style game EVAR!"

I dunno, I am obviously in the minority, but I may just wait and see what it has to offer, watch previews, etc. and then come to a decision about buying it. I'm one of these suckers that buys and plays games for enjoyment, not to get pissed about the shoulda/coulda/wouldas.

Cheers

Yeah, I hear you.

To me, these are just another carrot right. I understand that it's not a real beta. What it is though, is an opportunity to get familiar with the system/UI/options/etc. so that you can hit the ground running on day 1. I also think there there is a modicum of information the developers get regarding any game breaking things that may crop up during those weekends for their inevitable day 1 patch.

I don't mind paying for this. Every game does it nowadays. People will pay for it, like me, so why wouldn't they do it?

I'm excited to play this. I like the idea behind skill wheel system and the setting. Every game that comes out has issues nowadays. From what little I've been hearing, they have admitted to the flaws of AoC and they have teams spending equal amounts of time on each phase of the game up through end game. I'm looking forward to this more than GW2 myself. To each their own.

My review for this game is the same as Spinal Tap got for Shark Sandwich. See you all in 3 months when you've finished EVERYTHING there is to do in this game and you're begging to get into GW2. Fools and their money.

Could they just buy GW2 then?

I'll stick with COD. BF3 has poor hit detection and the gameplay is all over the place. All those vehicles is like a threesome with your girlfriend when the third person is Mike Tyson...

You must not have played BF3. The hit detection is quite good. If you mean that you can't spray from the hip for every kill, then yeah, you are right.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I am really looking forward to BF3 tomorrow. I had fun playing the beta (I know, I was the only one..)and I don't understand the comments about it being just "another run n gun" game. Isn't that what all FPS games are? This title has a lot more substance than some of the other FPS titles that have come out recently or will be coming out shortly.

I'm also looking forward to release. I thought the beta went relatively well and look forward to seeing all the maps and playing with my clan mates. To me, battlelog is a pretty smart idea. Social networking is obviously huge right now and they are trying to appeal to the masses. I would also assume that it will be a matter of time before someone comes up with a way to implement a shortcut on your desktop that takes you right into a favorite server, bypassing the need to mess around in battlelog.

I like BF3. Most the guys that I've seen complaining about it have only played long enough to get shot up a few times and cry because they aren't dominating like they did in tribes 2. I'm not naive enough to think that all of the bugs and glitches will be fixed before release, but it's a fun game and there is a lot going for it.

I'm pretty sure this is what an EA executive said last week as well but it's most likely heavily weighted towards console owners. What will be really interesting is seeing how Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 performs.

i think i read somewhere that Dice knows that they will never hit COD sales numbers.

Hrm, Poopyfield 3 or Call of Poopy? Neither methinks. Those games have turned into the same crappy franchises like EA sports. I can't believe people pay money for this shite!

i guess you are right. I'll keep playing "The Sims"...
