That OS is the beginning of Microsoft's end. No amount of DX12 and other kind of planned obsolescence is going to force me to ever use it.
If it's the end of Windows then it's because fewer people buy / use PCs and do everything on their phones.
But you know what? I think Microsoft does not care. While the tinfoil people are busy slamming Windows 10 Microsoft is doing some stealth moves to own the backend so that they won't have to rely on OS sales. Plus, personally I love what they're doing in the open source & .NET realm. They really have some great people on those teams.

I'd rather waste battery than use a Microsoft web browser... energy well spent.
Why? At the moment the only problem with Edge for me is that it uses more RAM than chrome.

40% smaller.. just more heat issues. No benefit at all...

What's the purpose of a slim one? Does anyone really have problems with the ~3-4 inch thick ones?
Of course this is not the same hardware as in the original XBONE, so probably no heat issues due to a shrinked die and stuff...

Or at least that's what I'm assuming. It'd be nice if Sony and MS did a GOOD upgrade program, but it seems unlikely.
Also hoping for an upgrade program. The specs of scorpio, although more than a year to go, seem pretty good. Seems they really wanted to beat Sony this time. Let's hope no RROD again

You can blast through the campaign in about two hours but may play it again in higher difficulty levels with your persistent fleet.
They (he) nailed the arcade space sim feeling of the classics but without any storytelling. Also the missions are pretty hectic and short. I like the game but it'd be great if it gets a grand campaign in a future DLC.

SOMA on sale, I may finally pick that up. Stay away from Twitch though, Gog!

I dislike Twitch, but honestly that's probably a very smart move, tons of people seem to love those type of streams now.
Soma was my GOTY 2015. By far.

Did the left analog stick not do a good enough of a job being a left analog stick for you? Crazy
Ugh, I meant the right one...

I'm amazed that, with all of these spectacular failures, MS is still a relatively strong company. How many disastrous failures can they ultimately endure? This can't keep going on forever.
They are just cleaning up Ballmer's mess.

I played 5 hours of the new Doom SP and it was exactly what I expected. So far it's a 7.5 for me. There's major flaws in the game that could easily have been prevented. I can't understand why they made these decisions. Mostly, the engine has texture issues, the glory kills are a terrible and make the combat worse, it's all about "enter clear fight area, area locks, enemies spawn out of nowhere, kill enemies, area unlocks" and there's never really more than 6 enemies at a time. The level design is great though, much better than the linear bullshit we get in games nowadays.

Glory kills are optional and you can get a rune that speeds them up. I thought I was going to hate them but they really aren't bad and don't disrupt the flow of combat.

As for the area lockdowns, I thought that they actually worked pretty well thanks to the level design. Each lockdown area is like a mini-Quake arena and is fun to fight in. Dealing with waves of enemies forces you to keep moving and take advantage of the full combat space. It actually captures the Quake multiplayer experience really well.

If anything, glory kills speed up the flow of combat. They make things faster, and they keep you with ammo, health and armor.

YES, thank you! My thoughts, EXACTLY. It does IMPROVE the entire combat flow IMO

Skip intro didn't work for me. Anyone else have issues?

Same, although I put them in without quotes, I'll try with quotes, etc.

Looking at their other commands, it should probably be:

+com_skipIntroVideo 1, not just +com_skipIntroVideo.

Reasoning: com_skipKeyPressOnLoadScreens 1, +set m_smooth 0, they all seem to be boolean toggles.

*EDIT* yep, works with +com_skipIntroVideo 1
It does but now there is a significant delay until the start screen appears...

That Nvidia video is what they need to have been showing. NOW I'm interested. I don't understand why that one looks so damn fast and everything else, all the other SP and MP videos, looks so much slower.

Agreed. It looks fast, and the amount of enemies looks like old Doom (except now with jumping, but man, he's jumping all over the place to pick enemies off without staying still. Just totally working the room like I feel I used to in DM maps.)
Oh boy, I'm so gonna play that on hard difficulty tonight and I usually always play on easy

I never really got into TF2. I still play Q3 (now Quake Live) matches every other day or so.
Played about an hour of the open beta now and found it better than expected. There's a lot of variety offered by all the available heroes and a skilled player of 90s shooters will definitely find a character that suits his/her playstyle. I didn't like the rocket launcher hero because it doesn't feel like q3's RL
Didn't see any signs of unlocks or pay-to-win. You get some cosmetic items when you level up but I tend to ignore that crap.
