Ok, I pick up my CE PC version about 11am. I notice they have four boxes. The manager tries to give me the first box. As he hands it over and places it on the counter top I notice Big Daddy's drill-bit arm is rolling around in the bottom. No thanks this box is dented and the figurine is broken. He hands me another I peer thru the plastic and see what appears to be a nice (whole) Big Daddy. Little PJ is a happy camper... he walks back out to his work van and proceeds to finish his day.
But he's thirsty and has yet to take a lunch break so he hit's 7-11 for some crack in a cup. (Mmm! PowerHorse from the fountain) As he is settling into the driver seat and thinking about his next job and running a remote test via the switch he tell's himself "Fuck'em. I am taking a lunch break... screw the Evil Empire".
He then decides to open the box and get a better look at Big Daddy. It's a great LE or CE either way. The figurine is good enough but with the Making Of and Sound Track discs it's one of the better packages in quite some time.
So I pulled out the inner box to find my Big Daddy has also become a victim of the UPS ass-hat retard's need to throw the customers boxes around not knowing or thinking what is inside or even giving two shits.
http://www.2kgames.com/bioshock/busted/If you got a busted Big Daddy apparently there are quite a few others. I warned my friend in Jersey about the damage due to a poorly designed case and the UPS system. He didn't even have to mention it the EB Games manager gave him a sticker with that URL on it so he could get his replaced free of charge. Told my bro send them your info they will send you a box, mail the busted guy to them, and get a shine new 2nd edition Big Daddy. Or so they say....

No biggie either way. Mine only has a busted cage which I could just clean up and touch up with model paint. But I think I will send it in either way.
{fast forward to being home}
So I set the game to load as I go shower... screw the dogs today. No walk for you. I come back and start up the game to get the same ole V-Sync texture tearing. But not just that the entire game is running choppy now. Not at all like the demo. Nothing has changed on my machine... I held off from the beta drivers because I hate betas.
And to make it worse I can really notice the mouse lag (x10) now were as in the demo I barely noticed it until I read it here first.
As I was playing the first part of the retail version and kicking myself for not ordering that 8800 a few weeks ago I noticed something else just wasn't right. I had the choppy graphics (check). I had the mouse lag (check). I had the texture tearing (check). But what else was it?
It's the freaking cropped wide-screen. Ray is right... once you go wide-screen and play a game like WoW or LotR Online in true wide screen hi-res you can never go back. Well you can. But you will never be truly happy again, ever.
I couldn't put my finger on it until I read it here. But subconsciously I had noticed the FOV was just not right.
So I feel kind of sad right now. It's too late to walk the dogs.... and I got to try to tweak the game to run correctly. Maybe the AMD Dual Core Optimizer will fix it though I doubt it since I already had it install. There is a version packed in the demo download and I'll bet it's on the DVD also.
Anyway have fun. I am envious. Love the game so far just feeling kind of violated after this string of bad mojo.
