...it is still a sad thing. Regardless of the problems/fights/whatever that people had, NOBODY sat there and decided "Hey, you know what? I am going to try and piss people off, get insulted, be the butt of many jokes, have to worry about being shut down, and so forth."

There were some problems, but they all did try to make a great game, release it to the market, and learn/grow from it.

I know that they are always changing things on a monthly basis, but I was just curious about "official retail" add-ons. As I said previously, I try to steer clear of the 3D MMORPGs. I already spend *way* too much time playing games on the PC/PS2/N64. ^_^

Is this the first add-on for Asheron's Call? They are lagging compared to EverSMACK. <g> I was looking through EBg's release dates yesterday (Return to Castle Wolfenstien on 11-06-01? I wish...) and was amused that EverSMACK has both the upcoming Shadows of Luclin add-on and the EverSMACK "trilogy." The latter seems to open up the possibility for an "ultimate" version, too...

What does this have to do with the news story or what significance does any of this have? Umm...er...uhh...is that really important? ^_^

Ion Storm (Dallas) is really a different story, though. You can argue that they have failed many ways: development time, advertising, quality, sell through, business practices, etc. I have already pre-ordered my copy of it and am hoping for the best, but there are already any number of questions/comments/rumors (take your pick) being thrown about regarding Anachronox by the "general" consumer.

Assuming all of this is true, how can Eidos really be faulted for this decision? Especially considering their current financial situation?

Am I the only one who found the demo incredibly short he first time around? It took me longer to download it from a crowded site with my cable modem and to install the game than actually beating the demo.

I thought that the demo was ok, but too "Resident Evil" for me. Since Resident Evil basically got its idea(s) from AitD, I was hoping that this new version would really bring a lot to the table, raising the bar for the genre. It just seemed like another boring zombie game, though. I have no doubt that many will find it fun, but I grow tired of generic stories, so-so controls, having enemies just "pop" out from some place, the "one person with only a flashlight" setup, etc.

It felt like it borrowed from a lot of other games, but did not have anything particularly unique or innovative itself.

You know, I do not think that any of these shots are "new." Well, they may be "new" to the 3D Realms site, but the "new" pictures are just the ones from the official http://www.maxpayne.com/ site.

It does look like 3DR at least put them in a new order, though. <g>

My only "gripe" (besides Jason wrecking my world messageboard domination ^_^) is that there *are* people who do nothing but complain/harass. Registering is completely free, takes a few mere seconds, and can be half-assed to essentially show fake or anonymous user information, if wanted.

Still, there are people who will not even do that and, when posting something, *shockingly* end up posting crap. I guess that is a fact of life, though. Er...unless Bagpuss has a "Remove lowlife" option. ^_^

Disabling all anonymous posting is not really an option for me; I am sure that there will be any number of good posts from mysterious strangers.

Well, this is *me* we are talking about; I will buy just about anything Half-Life. ^_^ It really is not something worth purchasing unless you are a total fanboy. It has some good level design, but it is incredibly short and the story is lacking (compared to Opposing Forces, which was originally knocked these two things). Tt took me less than four hours to beat the game.

Blue Shift is really only for people who love Half-Life and did not buy Opposing Forces. Under those circumstances, it is a good deal; you get the Blue Shift levels, Opposing Forces, and the updated models.

As for the GeForce 3, where have you been looking? I saw one or two at the local stores, but I just ended up loking at http://www.pricewatch.com/ and ordering online. There were a few sites that were out, especially the Elsa, but I did not have any real problems finding one that I liked.

Of course, I do not have a darn thing to really run on it. Max Payne is the only "big" game I am looking forward to and even that is not exactly a GF3-enhanced game. Well, that and Duke "The Man" Nukem, but I try not to think about his huge chance of being delayed further...

Well, I for one am excited about Anachronox going gold. Although not the latest, flashiest engine, the gameplay and story will make or break the game. If it is as good as it seems, this should be a blast to play.

Did things ever get settled with the announcement/suspicion/rumor that ION was going through some re-structuring? The news story popped up, there were claims saying both that it was and was not true, and then people seemed to become quiet again.

Wishing the PC market was booming at the moment :(,
