Well good luck to him. If he can make coding easier for everyone that could really revolutionize things in all aspects of life.

If they can bring DL2 close to W3 level of good I'll be a very effing happy camper.

Why the hell is it called the Dakar Rally if it takes place in South America?

Edit: Ahh nm. I did not realize the Paris-Dakar rally was cancelled in 2008 because Africa was considered too dangerous. Still, they should change the name since it's not even on the same freakin' continent.

Many props for giving this away for free to owners of the original game.

Fewer props for making it really not look that much different, imo...

Thanks for the heads up. Didn't even notice until I looked in my Steam lieberry. 31GB? Cereal? I didn't like it enough the first time to bother reinstalling and playing it again. Meh.

I did like the choice for the Blue Danube Waltz in the video. However I would have went with Boccherini's Minuet..Spinal Tap style from Heavy Duty!

Heavy duty solo Spinal Tap - the Boccherini Minuet

Guy just nails it. And on a Flying V no less!

Jesus Christ, that article about the Thai cave rescue is painful to read. Why is this so difficult? Just take a qualified diver to escort each kid on a guideline. There's only 13 of them, it's not a battalion. It only takes a few hours to learn to dive and they're not even really diving per se just going through some short pockets of flooded areas. I think they can handle it. Leave them in there for four months until the water recedes? Are you fucking kidding me? In any first world country this would have already been resolved.
According to one article I read there is a section too narrow to wear a scuba tank in a normal manner. Which honestly, seems odd considering the kids got there somehow -- I guess it is possible the team crawled to where they are while fleeing rising water. The article also indicated most of the boys don't know how to swim. Even if the first part is wrong, not being familiar with diving is one thing, but not being able to swim adds a whole new dimension. Also, some parts of the dive have a current. One diver claimed getting to the boys was the most difficult cave dive he had ever done. So, while it might be possible, it is far from an easy task.

No one said it would be a cakewalk or they'd already be out of there, but it's not rocket science either. A good military diver escorts one kid out at a time, how hard can it be? Certainly a metric fuck ton easier than shipping in food and drink for the next four months and hoping it doesn't flood anymore and kill them. The risk is certainly a lot smaller with the former.

It's not robotics per se. It's "AI", neural nets really, that will be taking over the white collar jobs in everything like law, accounting, advertising, etc. And they'll make more semi-manual jobs like nursing much more streamlined and efficient - which is why the union opposes them because that means job cuts and lower pay. I've pretty much never had anything but negative experiences with nurses so I'm all for it.

Anyone who thinks they're safe from robotics and AI/neural nets is in for a rude awakening. That coupled with world overpopulation, diminishing resources, climate change, et al.? Ugh. The future is grim. I would not like to be coming into the world now. If you have kids, and unless they're smart and focused enough to be doctors or scientists, buy land, teach them to farm and be self-sufficient instead.

It's a good article and I liked how he highlighted that having an official code translates into money for all the main and ancillary organizations that profit from "disorders". And he's right. Cell phones kill a hell of a lot more people than video games do. If you're walking around with your face buried in your phone all the time you have a problem. They WHO just needs to simplify all of this and call it what it is, addiction. Doesn't matter what the addiction is it all amounts to the same thing in the end.

Con artists are fleecing Uber drivers.

The joys of working the gig economy.

Nah, nothing to do with gig economy. The drivers were just incredibly stupid. The scammers literally call them and ask for their email and password AND 2FA code! And the drivers actually tell them!

Yeah, that's all the drivers being stupid. Same whenever I'm with friends or family and they get a call from someone unknown and start answering questions, I tell them, 'Don't answer anything. That's how social engineering and identity theft work. Either just hang up or just say 'Wrong number' and hang up. Don't engage with them at all.' If they're claiming they're from XYZ company like your bank or utility tell them you'll phone them back on the company number. It's literally that simply yet millions of people continue to not do that. Boggles the mind!

Ok, I lol'd at that.

You're absolutely correct. They just keep fucking around with all this minutia that doesn't matter. And that's why you need good producers to keep you on time and budget by moving you away from spinning your wheels pointlessly like that. People either don't know or forget that Wing Commander and Privateer were made in spite of him. That EA fired him because he's a shitty producer that has no business being in that role at all. He's completely unqualified for the job.

And the comments from the fanboys? Holy shit have they ever drunk deep of the Kool-Aid.

Gee, overbearing parents cause problems for kids autonomy. Shocker.

Saddest picture on the internet? Why? I don't get it.

That Disney vid is both fascinating and a scary shot of the future that's coming.

Jobs are expected to pay about $53,000 a year

Factory jobs at 50K+ a year? Yeah. Sure. If you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell you cheap.

But opponents criticize it as an example of corporate welfare the state can not afford.

The state alone is poised to give the company up to $3 billion in tax credits and breaks.

It will take until at least 2043 for the state to recoup that lost tax revenue, according to Wisconsin's estimates.

2043? Are you fucking kidding me? Jesus, the rest of that article is just a litany of U.S. taxpayers being bent over and anally raped sans lube. That's just fucking crazy. And these asshole will trash Lake Michigan in the process. Fucking wow. There's the GOP for you.
