Canoeing drunk in Canada. Yup, sounds safe to me.

Alcohol and night swimming. It's a winning combination!

I call bull on that sleep article. It's like meds and everything else in this world. We're all a mixed bag and what effects people one way effects other people another. There's plenty of historical records of people who lived long healthy lives who didn't sleep much or were diurnal sleepers and cat nappers. I'd say the problem is more likely being forced into corporate schedules where for the vast majority of human history you work as you needed and wanted and if you wanted to start early or late or take a nap you just did.

Yes, but all the atoms in your body are replaced about 6 times over in the course of an average lifetime yet you remain who you are. And you're unique as your fingerprints and snowflakes. I don't if that warrants a soul but it's a good argument for one. I've always held to the idea of reincarnation - maybe not quite in the way in the Hindus or Buddhists believe - but I don't believe anything ever really dies, it just gets reincorporated back into everything else. I like to believe there are higher levels of consciousness, the more of something more advanced. Like JLP said....What is death?.

Yeah, I still recall going from BBS' and Door games to MUDs to graphical MUDSs to MMOs. I probably still had the best times in MUDs. Small, tight communities, using your imagination, difficult as hell, a lot of attachment and sense of accomplishment.

It's amazing how Garriot let Ultima fall by the wayside.

The idea is too far ahead of its time. This will be a thing in 20 years when robotic delivery services are more common. People would be much more comfortable having a robot restock the fridge than a human.

I wouldn't trust a robot anymore than I would a person. And besides if it comes to that point you'll be homeless and begging for food, not having robots deliver it. Pretty sure a lot of folks on this board will be elderly in 20 years.
Except that a robot would have to be explicitly progammed to rob you. A poorly paid human wouldn't.

Not sure what you mean by "if it comes to that point." Robotic food delivery would be a good option for the elderly and indigent.

That's what I mean. Look at all the malware in the world. Why on earth would anyone implicitly trust a robot?

Yep. I may subscribe for one month to watch all episodes once they've been released, but CBS seems to think they'll get millions of people signing up just to watch one episode a week.

It's not Game of Thrones, CBS.

Not to mention that sort of greed flies in the face of what Star Trek is supposed to represent. Enh, I think it'll flat out suck. From everything I've seen of it so far it looks like a highly politicized SJW circle jerk.

And H1Z1 wouldn't be in existence without DayZ, Daybreak.

So what? Hardly an entirely new concept anyway.

Yeah, and they wouldn't be around without zombie and post-apoc fiction. And that wouldn't be around without fables and religious tales. Everything is inspired by something else. The fact that any of these assholes think anything they're doing is any way new or original is laughable at best. Christ, how many of you played King of the Hill, Red Rover, Hide and Go Seek, Cowboys and Indians, Cops and Robbers, etc. when you were kids? Kids have been playing that sort of thing as long as there have been kids, and these assholes think that belongs to them somehow. Fucking arrogant morons.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 : What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.

This promo is only on for another day, and the keys have to be redeemed by Oct. 7th so get 'em while they're hot. I started Outlast last Halloween and had to stop about an hour in because it was freaking me the fuck out. I'll give it another go this Halloween.
