A) No one else is going to bitch about Fallout 3? It's not exactly hard to find people bitching about it on the intarweb. As for professional journalists? DURR. Of course they aren't going to bash Fallout 3. Let's see here... world exclusive preview... first details... first screenshots. Ah, yes, makes perfect long-term business sense to berate the game when they've been given these things. I mean, that's what readers want to read, right? "THIS GAME FUCKING SUCKS!!1! WHERE ARE THE ISOMETRIC CAMERA ANGLES?!? THE MUTANTS DON'T LOOK RIGHT!!!! THAT TEXTURE ISN'T BROWN ENOUGH!!!! FUCK, THIS GAME ISN'T GOD DAMN FALLOUT!!!!!!"
Yeah.
Fallout is an RPG. Character development, dialogue, choices & consequences. Where is the preview of any of that? Oh look an orc and a messy headshot LOL. Also love the gaming sites that gave Oblivion 9.8s that are now bitching about level-scaling and shitty AI. How about mentioning that shit in a review or preview? Oh wait...let Bethesda sell a million copies first, then start bitching about it.
Fallout fans can be pissed...they have a history of being screwed over twice already (Tactics, and POS).
B) Just because you have a right to do something doesn't mean you should do it. I bitch about the whiners in the hope that they will stop and I won't have to see the same complaints in every single Fallout-related thread.
It's called the Internet. Grow up.
What a horrible analogy. Fallout 3 is not going to be a completely different genre than Fallout. Obviously it won't be the exact same game either. However, from what I've seen and read thus far, it will still be an RPG. Notice how I said "from what I've seen and read thus far." That's important because we still don't know much about the game. If the game comes out and ends up being an FPS, then your analogy will be valid.
According to preview: "Genre: Action RPG." What was Fallout 1 & 2 again? Action? WTF?
Actually, most young console players don't even know wtf Fallout is and don't really care about Fallout 3, letalone what fanboys think of it. It's easy to defend yourself by generalizing your detractors as console kiddies but it would probably be more convincing if this wasn't a PC gaming website consisting primarily of veteran PC gamers.
Right and I was limiting my last reply about those visiting this specific site. Look at the Gamespot and Bethesda forums. Go there yourself. Tell me some of those posters have sat down and played Fallout instead of seeing youtube videos of it or seeing it on "Top 10 greatest games EVAR!"
I, for example, am not a console player. And I have played Fallout. The reason why I don't bitch about Fallout 3 is because I haven't played it and know relatively little about it.
I myself am keeping an open mind. So far, it's not looking like a Fallout sequel (like I said, it's more like STALKER). However, if people start talking about those "Snobby, raving lunatic fallout fans," I gotta put my foot down because they don't know the context. I don't mean to disrespect console players either, but a lot of PC gamers knows what happen when you make a game for the different platforms (Deus Ex:IW *cough* Oblivion *cough*)
Do I have to go to the Sun to know it's hot? Do I have to eat shit to know it tastes terrible?
