It's funny really how people use to talk that as a private company Valve would be better than the money hungry public companies, yet if anything Valve is worse, they produce nothing but crack style games with nickle and dime drops, hats etc. Sure they don't shovel out sequels before they fail and then can IP... because they don't produce anything creative anymore (except stuff from economics class).

I remember back in the day when I was playing SimCity 3000 and mentioned it would be nice to drive in the city and someone mentioned Streets of SimCity. I'm still surprised no one has done anything like that with newer city builders, seems like a no-brainer if you can get a 3D Map generator going in this age of DLC, you could sell activity packs like racing, transport (train driving, bus driving etc), shooting, maybe an emergency services where you get to fight fires, drive an ambulance etc.

I hope it's less invasive than the mobile version which installed an ad service that you couldn't get rid of without uninstalling the game.

Wowsers. Bethesda must have seen Australians bending over the showerblock! My first thought on this was a way to keep the price up, then my second thought was they probably upped the price on the current version for the freebie. According to steams the legendary edition is 39% off at $55.78! According to steamprices.com the standard price was $49.99 (already 10 more than US).

Remember, never drop the soap kids!

Having played the new Cruise map I can't help but wonder why they didn't just put one of those velvet ropes across the boarding ramp, then the whole terrorist incident wouldn't have happened.

So the Sega classics thing is just an emulator?

I was trying to work out what you got. Hell Yeah and Jet Set Radio appear as items in the game list. I could not find golden axe but there is a Sega genesis & mega drive classic items which I thought might be the Sega Classics.. but it only contained golden axe.

So it seems like Sega Classics is a non item.;

The Olympics already needs to be slimmed down, not have the addition of the athletic equivalent of a chunk of lard deep fried in vegetable oil then dipped in olive oil.

I just migrated my library to new OS/SSD and simply copied over /steamapps/

That works if you reinstall Steam over the top. It doesn't seem to work (anymore) if you're trying to just add games back into an existing Steam installation.

Some games will reinstall if I just launch them, but so far it's about 50-50. Sigh.

Did you back up the acf files with them? I noticed when I was trying to cheat on downloading the various versions of civilization 4 (since the mods have complete copies of everything that came before) that steam ignores what is actually there if the acf file for the game in the Steam/steamapps directory says its not there.

I think ACF is also quite recent so some games you have backed up may still use the old system?

Might just be in Australia but

Price of individual games: $8.73 USD
Bundle cost: $9.99 USD

On The Crysis Maximum Edition thing on steam.

In fact its the same thing full price too now I notice.
Crysis is $14.99, Warhead $19.99.. the bundle $39.99!

(and still the cheaper price is more then steamgamesales.com reckon it is going for).

Well that's disappointing. I thought I'd try the free trial to see if it was available from the unmetered steam server on my new wireless connection (8GB a month only, but I'm finally in a broadband world). But I can't get any of the little tools people have made to block steam from other content servers on wine so I have to use my only late windows machine which only has 10 GB free and I find despite the steam store page saying it needs

Hard Drive: 8 GB free hard drive space

Steam wants 15189MB! Another wonderfully accurate store page and I see the Civ IV page still suggests it works on win 2k!

I've not seen anybody else suggest it, but I reckon even before Windows 8 was released there was a marketing report in a desk somewhere with a couple of empty boxes to plug in numbers from windows 8.

What does it say?

Well it says that the data compiled show that home users almost never installed an application from disc, entirely using the windows store to buy their software. So in future in order to provide our users with what they want and to improve security with Windows 9(tm) Home and Home Premium editions will only run software from the Windows Store. Users wishing to install specialist niche software from disc are recommended to buy the Windows Professional version of the software.

In unrelated news, the price of Windows Professional has risen by 100% for single licenses.
