Personally, I think it's far too late to bother with Halo for the PC. I mean, if it had been last year, sure, I would have strongly considered picking it up. Year before that, hell ya, I would have gotten it. But since I've played the living hell out of it on the Xbox in many a fragfest, and beaten the single player over and over by now, no way am I gonna go run out and buy it for the PC years after it came out for the Xbox just so I can play online. whoopitydoo!

Now, if they can get thier butts in gear, and get a PC release of Halo2 out sometime in the same quarter as the Xbox release, I'll be all over that like white on rice. (I'm not gonna be stupid, and hope they release a PC version of it at the same time as the Xbox version, but I would like to see it in less than 6 months after the Xbox release, not 2 1/2 years later.)

I actually picked this one up on a lark, because my roommate was playing it, and saying he was having a good time. I actually had no problems with the login server, altho I haven't actually hit the "Quit" button yet, because the game likes to decide when I'm going to quit, with either a bluescreen or a CTD. (Happened about 5 times over the course of a long gaming day.)

My only complaint is, that outside of either rediculously time consuming Delivery Missions (which pay NOTHING) or rediculously hard Destroy missions, nobody has ANY cash. (which, to an extent is to be expected from a brand new economy, but this is just insane) There's no way to sell off stuff you've crafted besides selling to other players, and considering that the Almighty Bazaar that was gonna make P2P selling so easy charges you 20 creds for each item you want to sell, (which is a pretty damn artifical money sink, if you ask me) making it nearly impossible to even try to sell basic stuff like weapon powerups on the Bazaar.

Frankly, if it wasn't for the feature of having players be able to teach other players skills they know, I'd have never gotten to get to the second level in any skill, much less max one out already. Hopefully the economy shapes up soon, because right now, everyone I know is running around with like 100 creds in thier bank account.

So how apesh*t is Metallica gonna go when thier game is all over the newsgroups a week before it hits the shelves?

I mean, c'mon, putting out a computer game (or even albums) after the whole Napster Bad™ thing is like telling a little kid he can't have a cookie, and then leaving a plateful in his bed. I know people who downloaded S&M and Garage Inc when they came out just because of the whole stink Metallica raised with mp3s.

I don't know why people seeing patches on day of release are shocked at it happening. Think of the rushed dev schedules these days, and the lead time between something going Gold and actually hitting stores. That two weeks, you think the devs are just gonna go catch up on thier sleep? They've probably been humping it just as hard since it was declared Gold, and with all the beta testing that's gone on right up til yesterday night, of course there's gonna be a patch the day of release. And probably 5 more in the space of 2 months. People should know this by now. I'm not saying it's a wonderful thing, I'm just saying it's a fact of life, kinda like parallel parking downtown. Everyone hates it, but everyone does it anyway, because nobody's figured out a better way.

I've been following this game for a while now, it looks like it should be very, very sweet.
