Hey that reminds me: some of you folks out there must be avid PS2ers. What are some of the premiere games on it? (I'm talking the classics, here)
I'm playing through Metal Gear Solid 2 and Silent Hill 3 right now. Next on my list is Devil May Cry. But I'm open to suggestions.

I got a PS2 for Xmas, too! Well, sort of...
A buddy of mine lent me his PS2 as he was heading out of country for the holidays, so I thought it might be nice of me to install one of those mod-chips for him in return for the favor. Except I ended up destroying the thing during the install--or so I thought.
After I had already bought him a replacement, I finally got around to taking the thing apart and removing the chip I installed and guess what? The thing boots up and works just fine! (Even with a couple of very small components missing from the mainboard!)

It's a video of a technology in the works from Sun, that turn the traditional two-dimensional desktop metaphor into a 3D space. The demonstration itself was kind of dry, since most of the applications that they demonstrated were traditional 2D apps, so the most impressive thing you can do with those is turn them at an angle, or flip them over and write on the back.
The most interesting things about the demo to me were 1) the posibilities of rethinking how applications should look in a 3D space, and 2) the fact that Sun seems to be working on a desktop interface introduces the possibility that Sun may in the future become a viable competator in the OS market.

I'm beginning to suspect that developers/publishers are going to be disregarding the PC as a gaming platform more and more in favor of developing for consoles. Maybe this copy-protection BS is just another step in that direction.

How long is the single player part of Uru? Did you finish it?
I'd say that it's about the same length as Myst III: Exile.
I managed to solve two of the four ages allby myself, and completed about 80% of the game before I got frustrated and walkthru-ed the rest of it. The solutions to most of the puzzles I didn't solve were ridiculous; there's no way I'd ever have got them.

Actually, from what I read on thier forums, the folks that are able to access URU Live are having all kinds of problems with major lag and authentification. I think it might be a while before that gets sorted out.

So I finally got around to seeing 'The Hulk' last night on DVD, and I have to say that it wasn't that bad. The way people here were slamming it I was expecting Total Crap(TM). Sure, the story had its faults (remember that we're talking about an adaptation of a comic book here, folks) but the direction and the cinematography were quite striking for a mindless action flick. I especially liked the comic book style frames effect and Elfman's musical score.

Yeah, it was weird how they used another helicopter accident to finish him; it's like the helicopters were out to get him or something. They had to kill him off though, I was suprised that they kept him around this long after hacking off his arm...
