SS4 was almost vaporware - for how long it took. The game turned out ok, somewhat. EDIT: the final final level, was awful and exploitative of their marketing about how 1000000 enemies could be on the screen at the same time. It was a lie, and 99% of that shit was background noise and didn't actually exist in the game. Terrible level.
SS3 looked and played better than SS4 at launch, on the PC, which was a tad disgraceful. I haven't touched SS4 in over a year, but I assume beside the France level nothing has changed or been properly optimized. The SS4 port was full of issues, Croteams solutions were derp. And consider this, SS3 got a lot of shit at launch, warranted for the first 5 levels. With that acknowledged -- SS3 > SS4 for performance, variety and graphics. A game from 2011 I believe.
The side games in the SS series have never caught my attention and I'm a SS player since SS1. I won't give them a cent if this is some bullshit title reaping off of the name. The arcade shit can die.
I don't have much faith left in any SS announcement. Except for one smaller part of of their game development -- the sound and music of the SS series has since SS1 always been some of the best in the entire genre. Someone give the sound engineers and the composer a massive raise if they decide to stick with this franchise.
EDIT:
I would, likely, pay for a SS3 remaster
I would pay for a SS4 complete remaster with proof of MASSIVE improvements over the current release, and with a DISCOUNT for original SS4 buyers.
I wouldn't touch the first three games anymore, they've re-released them enough (SS1 FE, SE and SS2)
I doubt this announcement is for a proper SS5 - it is very likely for some spin-off shit no one actually cares about.
