Haven't followed Brevik in a couple years but I thought he was toiling on his own early access game during that time?

I have not played it; it's a Terraria thing. Released mid last year.
Seems to be well received.

I have a lot of thoughts about David Brevik, vastly positive. I love him, he's amazing to listen to. But I don't see him as the ARPG god a lot of people do at all. A lot of that comes from things he's said himself about the development of Diablo and Diablo 2. And the Shaefers too.

I wish all the best to him, Bill, and the developers.

Intrigued on the premise...not so much on the art style.
All the best to them, I hope they don't overreach on the realistic scope of the project with stretch goals as so many young indies before have.

Just in case Blizzard decides to lawyer it up, definitely going to download the mod and put it somewhere until Grim Dawn and its expansions are on sale.

I guess Mick cares more about audio quality of id's mixing choice than keeping his job to pay the bills.

He should've just said "I didn't mix that, but I'm sure they had a good reason for doing it." instead of "I didn't mix that, nor would I have ever done that." and he could've kept a relationship worth more money in the future.

Perhaps id wanted a softer mix of the too-high quality version because they know softer works better in majority of situations.

From the story, it sounded like Gordon was late delivering his work in full bitrate, and they went with some earlier lower, compressed bitrate stuff he'd sent to them earlier. I'm not sure but they didn't have time to remix the full bitrate stuff in time for release?

But this sounds fucked. The game was supposed to come out in November. While I very much realize sound is usually done in the latter half of production; I don't believe sound was holding this game or soundtrack back from a November release, or even was a part of it. Not based on how Doom 2016 was handled. Of the two stories told, my instinct goes with Mick.

I could be very wrong. Indeed.

I'd argue that Rise is exactly what you get when you decide to make a new trilogy, but clearly do not have anyone overseeing the structure of said trilogy. Force Awakens wasn't bad, but it definitely didn't break any new ground either. The Last Jedi was a perfectly fine movie, or rather it would have been if it wasn't supposed to be the middle movie of a trilogy and hadn't ignored everything that happened in the first one. There was simply nowhere logical to go to tie everything up in Rise so you get this movie which is largely just set pieces designed to tick the Star Wars boxes.

I'd love to know who over at Disney thought that having a trilogy with such dramatically different visions was ever going to end well. Sure they all made money, but I can't help but think at the same time they've also managed to sour people towards the series which is never good in the long run.

Giving Rian Johnson such free reign on the Last Jedi was a ridiculous decision. He made it impossible to even pretend there was a cohesive plan for the series. "Hey, I know... I'll shatter all the expectations from the first movie! That will be so awesome!" Yeesh.

Question that's not exactly related here, but I am curious. You watch any Redlettermedia content Blue? If you haven't, I'd recommend giving their Half in the Bag review (Skip the Plinkett review, a completely different video of theirs) of The Last Jedi a watch; you might enjoy it based on exactly what you just said. Their other stuff, while my favorite content on the internet, isn't for everybody.

I saw RoS in the theatre. Star Wars is no longer Star Wars.

Absolutely agree in terms of the movies.

Something a lot of people don't even acknowledge (even refuse to acknowledge out or principle or because "cartoons are for children"...) are the animated series. Clone Wars is the best Star Wars in decades. In my opinion, of course. Rebels was alright too; looking forward to the rumored/basically confirmed sequel series. And then there's Mando too.

The series finale arc for Clone Wars was something else, the actual final episode aired today on Disney+.

I have heard a lot of similar praise of Clone Wars... I'll have to check it out one of these days.

The first season, like many sci-fi shows first seasons, is kinda rough in a lot of ways, but still worth the time.

Edit: actually the first couple seasons are a bit rough but there are real gems in both. Like Star Trek DS9, and TNG, didn't hit its stride till season 3.

But for how long? And at what cost? (power, thermals, new motherboard required, probably expensive cooling solutions absolutely required for any kind of Turbo or Velocity boost)

That said, still interested to see how the 10900k does with OC.

Edit: Also, a lot of the marketing material they're putting out is confusing or nonsense. Check out all those citations, and lack of citations, depending on points they're trying to sell.

Great game for those that played the original and enjoyed it. For those that haven't, a hard sell at $60.

I don't know, given the replay value I feel like it's a great game at $60. I guess people will say its old and so it should be cheaper but they put a great deal of work into this remake and I feel like they earned my moolah.

I completely agree with your point. But I'm biased and love these games. Game could have cost $100+ and I still would have bought it. I still just feel this would be difficult game to introduce people to the Mana series, at $60. It's very much still a game from 1995 despite the overhaul/facelift.

Edit: So I would suggest to new players trying, through whatever means available to you, the Gameboy and SNES Mana games, and if those games work for you buy Trials of Mana. The first one (Final Fantasy Adventure / Seiken Densetsu) has an excellent remake available on Android and I believe IOS (Adventures of Mana). The second one (Secret of Mana / Seiken Densetsu 2) is on those platforms as well, but if I recall correctly it isn't the very much 'meh' remake version of the game but the original SNES game (one of the best games made on the SNES).
