So if I'm understanding this correctly to play the game "first" I must:
Own an Xbox one, Pre-order a special version, and belong to the EA Access club.
These guys get shadyer and shadyer with each release. I watched the trailer above, I'd say about 20 seconds was actual gameplay, the rest is cutscenes or, "IN GAME FOOTAGE!!!" as they brag.
There's a lot of interesting stuff on here, I'm pretty hyped myself. That voice acting though - ugh. I really hope they have a higher quality in the actual game.
"Pay for it in blood"... so bad it made me cringe.
I also miss the sheer amount of dialogs with strangers in the original game, it added a great deal of immersion and intrigue to the world. It looks like they've taken more of an action route from what I've seen on the other trailers.
You're right. I also forgot to mention what I hated most about this beta- The netcode is still atrocious. I was shot from around so many corners/ through walls. Ridiculous.
I think what i find most upsetting about Battlefields open beta is how little they actually patch before the release date.
Is anyone else waiting to see the next few weeks of events unfold like all other Battlefield games?
1) Hardlines open beta will ask for participation touting feedback which will help tune server load and weapon damage...
2) On game day release, the servers will be overloaded, "we didn't foresee this many people wanting to play our game despite how many people pre-ordered it"
3) Reported bugs will have been ignored rather than fixed.
4) Overpowered weapons and exploits weren't even addressed, Game balance issues still exist.
5) A third of the people who bought Hardline wont even be able to play until the next patch...
I think the difference here is that those are single player games (which I loved, and yes, I too tolerated DS3 - purely for cannon purposes though).
BF games and their notorious issues with game stopping/ online bugs in every iteration has repeatedly shown a pretty shitty track record. Combine that with this DLC nonsense - abhorrent patches and hinkey (hinky?) netcode. I'm pretty much done with them.
I'm part of the 'sick of being shot around corners club' as well.
I received an invite to this a few days ago, the game looks beautiful as always. I'm not terribly interested in dogfighting as much as trading, piracy and capital ships.
The thing I hear most about this game is what I suspected when it first came out. That is, no matter how interesting it seemed when released, there didn't seem like enough variety to warrant a full $60 game.
I think I confirmed this for myself when I played the "2 day time-release" version - I didn't see a reason to buy the thing.
Also given how appreciative the playerbase was to have a sudden influx of players I got the idea that the audience was waning. Normally veterans of a game bitch about noobs and this and that, but everyone I spoke to in lobbies and games were really nice.
Its a sad state of affairs (or the internet?) when respect is indicative of low game population.
Not really impressed with the beta, especially because it has all the 'netcode hallmarks' of the BF games; Getting shot around corners, etc. It was fun for a few hours but not really worth $15 let alone $60. This will be a full game? not really much variety.
After the 1000th time being shot through/ around over I looked into this tick rate thing.
I might as well be playing counter strike with my 56k modem. The only difference is that its harder to see lag, but easier to become a victim of it.I just up and gave up on this game.
In the right hands its a fun and fascinating version of the 'director' in left for dead. Dynamic and pretty awesome.
Unfortunately, 90% of the time it was used to spawn explosive death machines for all the game masters buddies while they bring the framerates of the server to single digits.
I guess you need to find a server where this feature is used and not abused.
Which is tragic considering how long Ive been a fan of Bungie (Pathways into Darkness, MYTH, ONI, Marathon). I also cant play FPS on a controller, and why should I when I have a mouse?
I'm really interested in this franchise but Ill be damned if I'm going to buy a new super-invasive-console to play it. I think the good news is that Bungie can really do their own thing now, they aren't bound to one platform or another.
You're grown men. Stop being petty, stop exaggerating, and stop blindly hating. I'm all for thinking Halo games suck, but I'll never say to someone at Bungie "gee, aren't you guys stupid for being one of the most successful studios of all time!"
Beamer, as we say in the DAYZ community. You have my beans sir.
