At the rtsk of outing myself as a complete nerd, isn't that signature quote actually Deanna Troi convincing Mark Twain - as they both strolled along a corridor to a turbolift - that the future isn't so grim? The episode where they go back in time to stop the life-source-stealing aliens? Am I wrong?

Nerd? nah I'm the one with the signature haha

I think Deanna says something similar to Twain. But this quote is from the First Contact movie.

EDIT:(which is terrible compared to how good the Next Generation is).

Why Snow Shoveling is an Unusually Deadly Type of Exercise.

The article forgot one important thing:- If your arteries aren't clogged, you won't get a heart attack. Ever.

Don't eat foods that are high in cholesterol (which coats your arteries in plaque) such as meat/dairy/fish/eggs.

Within a a few months of eating a whole foods plant based diet of hearty foods such as french lentil shepherds pie, black bean burgers, wholemeal tomato pizzas, your cholesterol will be so low you'll begin to reverse the cloggage until your arteries are clean again, and within a year you can shovel snow until your hands are blistered, regardless of your age.

Cause people are lazy fat bastards that don't do a damn thing all year then think they can lug around hundreds of pounds of snow quickly in an environment that is utterly cold yet the body overheats.......

eh, probably dumb luck.

You are right, the sudden exercise portion does play a role. There is a lot more blood-flow during exercise, and especially when the weather is cold. But rather than overheating, it's the increased blood flow in the heart's cholesterol plaque'd arteries that are the issue.

The more and stronger the blood flows, the more likely the plaque in the arteries will tear off, and the body will decide to clot that artery to prevent bleeding.
Seems like a good idea to clot bleeding, but if this clotting happens to arteries in the heart, you get yourself a heart attack.

The only way to beat it, is to never have the plaque form, and that means eating properly above everything else (including exercise).

It's certainly not dumb luck when 1 person dies every 83 seconds from it in the US alone.

It also has little to do with weight (although fat people generally have clogged arteries as well) because you can be skinny and eat a lot of bacon, eggs, meats, fish - but the arteries will still be just as clogged.

EDIT: a lot of body builders don't make it past 50 because of this artery clogging, tearing and clotting induced heart attacks. Not only do they eat a lot of meat, eggs, fish to get loads of protein (and cholesterol) they often take steroids which makes the clogging worse by several factors.

So you can see that even huge amounts of exercise cannot out-do a poor diet.

The sick bastards are using a full sized Return key. *shakes head*

If they are going to go so far as to fix up the key layout meaning everyone will need to speed a month or so before they can type at full speed, they might as fix the serious ergonomic issues of a standard keyboard and make the official keyboard an ErgoDox or similar design.

Living on a top floor may bottom out chance of surviving cardiac arrest

... unless you use the fucking stairs, you fatass, so you don't have a heart attack in the first place.

Weight is more a sign, rather than a big contributor to heart disease. It's a very easy way to tell that a person is most likely eating a diet high in meat/fish/egg/dairy all of which significantly raise cholesterol, which then goes onto coat the arteries in plaque.

However if someone is thin, muscular, fit and even exercises a lot, if they are eating mostly meat/dairy/fish/eggs then they're on heart attack street as well. You just cannot out-exercise the cholesterol you put into your body. You might look great on the outside, but if your arteries are clogged, it's GG for you.

I'm not making an excuse for fat or unfit people, what I'm saying is the only way to avoid a heart attack is to lower your LDL cholesterol to 70mg/DL, by eating a wholefoods plant based diet. The only scientifically proven diet to prevent, and even reverse heart disease. Otherwise you can look forward to a heart attack from age 45 onward, just like the other 400,000 Americans last year that it KILLED.

So live on the top floor, and use the elevator to haul up as many packets of potatoes, rice, wholemeal bread and pasta, greens and beans into your apartment

Whether it's ethically ok to eat jellyfish or not doesn't come into it if you ask me. The question is, why would you want to lol.

Seems like the whole article is really just an excuse to not become vegetarian / vegan. It's the typical, you can't save all of them so you might as well keep on eating argument.

it's alright, haven't seen a lot of successful sneaking, mostly just run and gun

It's just people running and diving like in that Specialist mod for Half-life.

MGO plays nothing like the multiplayer gameplay trailers would suggest.

It's nothing like the single player experience.

They really should have just put in some kind of co-op mode, because when everyone is as powerful as snake the game just disintegrates into messy tactic-less orgy of weirdly dressed characters doing the Benny Hill chase. It's awful.

At least with co-op the gameplay experience would have remained a lot like the singleplayer but with that extra element of strategy since you'd be able to eleminate guards at the same time, or from different sides of a village, or have one person sneak in while another spots and talks them thru it etc etc etc.

The depiction of Aboriginal people is still racist though. You have to consider the political and social climate in Australia, where Aboriginal people are so disadvantaged, with lower life expectancies and poor life opportunities etc. Australian governments have a shameful history. A game like this will always come in for criticism in that climate.

This isn't like fictional "savages" in Rust or similar games. This game purports to show "real Aboriginals" and depicts them as primitive spear wielders etc. In truth, Aboriginal people are teachers, lawyers, business owners, and everything else. Depicting them like the game does is harmful to any attempts to overcome the extreme racism in Australia today. Yeah it's just one stupid game, but if you excuse one stupid game, you can excuse every other instance too.

This is kind of like in Vice City when the game instructs you to "kill all the Haitians", which made Haitian community groups complain. In response, Rockstar altered that text in future versions of the game.

LOL. Everyone seems to gloss over the fact that the aboriginal communities are worse on themselves and each other than the government ever was. It's not stereotyping or racist when it's actually factual - Aborigines were primitive spear wielders. Experience living in an Aboriginal community yourself for a week and you'll definitely change your tune.

Worse still, the government completely fuels the perpetual self destruction of aboriginal communities. They'll never provide a way out of the downwards spiral because intervening properly will mean some white office worker will shout "racist".

Doing something as hamfisted as the stolen generation is wrong (of course) but also building a bunch of houses in butt-fuck nowhere, and saying "do whatever you like" and then simply forgetting about them is also wrong. But it suits the government well, when the voters have an out of sight, out of mind approach. The people in some of the communities have so little education that they don't even know how to blow their nose when they are sick (which eventually builds to a full on infection and so on). People need education and security to flourish, but they also need to have a reason to be invested and to be working toward something. Now we don't have a stolen generation, we have a lost generation.

A typical "middle class white person being overly insulted on someone's behalf" story.

"I've [spoken] to a lot of Indigenous friends that I have through uni and everyone is not only disgusted, but also just completely gobsmacked that this game actually exists."

I think that it's quite racist to assume that someone of a particular race will be offended.

Three Moves Ahead discussed a while back the results of some survey that showed the vast majority of RTS players never use the online component of the game. Hope they're putting a lot of effort into single player.

I hope there's a speed governor. I like to play with the speed set 70-80% of full speed.

Hah oh wow I totally forgot RTS games used to have that feature.

Apple cars will only drive down Apple Store approved roads. Streets sold separately.

I just hope that all of these electric cars can agree on a standardized charging plug. It's bad enough it's gotten this far with phones.
