We don't need to know the system specs because no one's going to buy it.

The game is woefully short. I've only played maybe 5 hours and I'm almost on mission 10 of 11. I've also completed all 5 bonus missions, each take about 15 minutes.

There's actually at least 6 bonus missions; look around on the net and I'm sure you'll find the one you're missing. I unlocked them all on my brother's PS3 when I was visiting him this past weekend.

I must be a horrible player because I've already put 10 hours into the game and I'm just now starting mission 6; mission 2 took me 2 or 3 tries, and mission 5 took me a while, too, because I got myself into a bad situation trying to extract the helicopter crew without having cleared enough of the opfor out before the checkpoint...had to redo the mission and do things differently. I agree that the total content does seem lacking (I realize I'm just slow at getting through it), but I'm willing to hear what DLC they're offering, and will probably pick it up if it's at a fair price.

I bought Arma back not too long after it came out (before it came to retail in the US), but I couldn't get into it and the performance was horrible. A couple of years later after I got a new machine I tried to revisit it, and found I couldn't get it to run in Vista unless I reduced the amount of RAM in my system (it had issues with 4gb 32-bit systems), and I just found that totally unacceptable. Apparently it had been an issue for months and there was no discussion from Bohemia that it would be fixed any time soon. I avoided the freight train wreck that was Arma2 as a result, and from what I've read I'm pretty happy with that decision. I think a more "consolized" milsim is up my alley anyway; plus it'll give me something to play with my brother who only games on consoles. I picked up a PC version for the singleplayer experience and for use of the mission editor (and because I prefer KB+mouse), and I'll probably pick up a PS3 copy sometime for the multiplayer component to play with my brother.

1. Limited to 3 modes - Co-op (up to 4), Annihilation (deathmatch limited to 16v16), and Infiltration (16v16, one team holds a defensive position, and the other must take over)

No, infiltration isn't 16vs16; on console it's 10 vs 22 NPC, and 10 vs 22 PVP on PC. Source: those magazine scans below.

Yeah, I heard Codemasters hired some people to steal the code CoD4 used for their vehicles and 2x2km-sized levels.

Hey, I'm just happy they're putting out more content. I don't read console news (I don't play them), so I didn't know this was out or even coming.

Yeah...I was out of town on vacation when it was released, and only got to try it out a couple of days ago. Naturally, given all of the negative press I had read about the launch version I had terribly low expectations for it, so perhaps that's why I'm positive in the experience I've had with it so far. There have been a few quirky things with it: had to manually update PB to be able to join a game, learned you can't filter servers to find Pipeline servers...your best bet is to use the default search options, pre-patch I experienced some major lag spikes, pre-patch had a couple of training sessions not save, majority of my play statistics don't seem to save, learned you can't change your gun sights until in-between rounds...sometimes having to cycle between iron sights and the gun sight to make it actually change, nade throwing feels wonky sometimes...but that almost felt latency related.

However, I've also managed to be pretty lucky perhaps and nearly every public game I've played so far I've had teammates who are actively being tactical over voip (and man does the voip sound good), and I've been having a blast with that.

I'm having a fair bit of fun with it...looking forward to future content releases. One thing...perhaps it's just me, but I can't seem to hear objective sounds (such as valves turning on Pipeline) so you don't know Opfor is taking an obj until it's too late.

I can't wait; AAO and AA2 had great gameplay, and the added ROE elements will make this one even better.

I wonder if this one will actually run on my machine. To my knowledge, the last time I tried to install and run Arma1 (about a year ago) it still wouldn't run on a Vista32 machine with 4gb of ram.

One of the interviews with Robin Walker made it sound like you could get unlockable weapons from killing people that were using them...he was talking about how that would be a way to get back a weapon that you had permanently removed from your backpack.

You realize that after the first shot there's a cool down between shots...yes?

(But remember, a gun that packs this much heat needs to cool off between shots, so make every shot count.)

Surely "super-powerful" doesn't mean it does 125 damage...it'll still likely take at least 2 shots to kill even the weaker classes.

I agree...easily worth $25 (I guess it depends on your idea of a good deal for hours/cost...but I'm very happy with $0.33-0.5/hr). I prefer it over CoD4 for MP. I never even touched the singleplayer for either CoD4 or CoD:WaW.

Wait a few minutes and try again...same thing happened to me. My guess is my account ID wasn't added throughout their system yet, so they were rejecting system information (I had just created the bnet account).
