40 minutes is longer than I expected them to last -- I logged in and got mine at like 1:40pm EST thinking there would be no chance of me getting one...I must have been one of the last ones. Admittedly, 65,000 keys (and now 75,000) are already out there...so the next batch of keys will probably last even longer.

Eh, bugs and crashes never plagued my BF2 experience. My #1 complaint would be the loading times, but the game still provided me the ability to enjoyably piss away 100 hours of my life -- which is good enough for me.

On another note, with an anticipated "launch" date of October 17th for the full game -- just a little over a month away -- they must not be too far away from releasing the BF2142 demo. Seems like the BF2 demo was released ~2 weeks before the full game if I remember correctly.

I suppose that looks fun -- though honestly I think I would die at least a couple times right there. I probably would have gotten squished by the cargo crate and cussed at the chopper -- the chopper that seems freaking invincible -- maybe that's what it is...I just don't like the weapon damage/health way things are laid out. The weapons seem weak and the hitpoints seem overly high (I thought it was the same case with HL2, actually). Perhaps just a little too arcadey for my tastes for me to really really enjoy it.

It'll probably take at least 15 minutes for all of those keys to get snatched up, right? If I don't forget about it I think I might attempt to get one tomorrow at 1pm EST -- wouldn't mind checking it out for myself...for free.

I'm sure there was probably a loading screen a second after the end of that trailer and they cut it short just to edit it out

I wasn't impressed either.

They're probably not showing other parts because most of Ep2 probably takes place in that environment -- with a little bit of running through small outdoor areas in between -- they're goal is to make us sick of caves.

Maybe when the day comes that I no longer have any friends, or anything else to do for that matter, will I be suckered into pre-ordering a game to play the demo a day earlier than others...so sad.

Apparently they do listen to their customers...remember how absolutely terrible the Ep1 teaser trailers were? "Alyx is tough" "Alyx yada yada yada"

..."Maybe Ep1 was such a flop because we didn't show any decent looking content or improvements? Hell, even our cronies were insulting our trailers!"

On another note, Anime TF2 would have been HILARIOUS-looking -- I totally would have spit out my coffee while watching that first TF2 teaser trailer.

They're probably giving it away to drum up interest in the expansion pack that's coming out soon.

I don't think you go through the trouble of all of this just to drum up a few more expansion sales. I think they're fishing for the cult-like following ET captured by doing the same thing years ago -- in order to drum up interest/sales in a sequel. However, my opinion is that just because its free doesn't mean people will play it. ET had novel elements, and though I haven't played F.E.A.R., I don't believe it was anything near revolutionary...at least not in its multiplayer aspect.

...Count my words!

32...maybe 33, depending on how you count a &

Since you're such a cool guy I'll mark your words, too.

Yea, I remember DDO was like that also. I'm sure there will be a public beta & then after that an announcment the game is being pushed to Q1 2007...Count my words!

I never played F.E.A.R., but I suppose I'll give this a try if people end up saying this is worth the download.

Does "more ranked content for players to enjoy" just refer to the new map? As in we can play it on ranked servers? Cuz when I saw that specific quote I was thinking "more weapon unlocks".

I think they explicitly said no more additional unlocks due to the memory required to load everything that's already in the game. I also remember reading that's why only the vanilla unlocks are available in BF2:SF.

That's more like it -- some daily BF2 gossip. Wonder what Blue'll find to post tomorrow?

Well the second news post (081606) alleges that they were able to fix the elusive "red name bug" -- the second bullet in the list.

Blue, where was the news post telling us there would be a news post about the patch delay, today? This is all too sudden for me...

They're interested in earning money making GOOD games over making MORE money with mediocre games.

I doubt that -- you're quite the idealist.

Despite all the bitching about BF2 (the "bugs" weren't a showstopper for me, personally) -- if the 2142 demo plays well I'll definately be picking this game up -- the footage looks fun.
