Cool, cool cool cool. I've been wavering on giving in and buying this on EGS for awhile now, I'll probably still wait until the release version hits GOG or Steam though.
It's not on EGS and it's already on Steam and GOG. Did you get it mixed up with another game, like Satisfactory?
Ah yes, I did exactly that.
To be fair both games interest me, and I got Factorio months ago on Steam, but have only played it a little; I was waiting for the final release.
Substitute Satisfactory in my original post.
Honestly Factorio hasn't changed that much in the last few years. Wube have been stuck on that hardest part of game dev, the last 10% of polish. I would consider it 1.0 as is and has been for a year or two at least, though the new icons are very pretty and the GUI could use some makeup.
Fortunately, it's been more stable and bug free than any released game I have have played for more than 4 years. Especially once they got the MP smooth. Game browser still sucks but that's my only gripe, playing with friends is still a blast. Vanilla is still amazing. Mod potential is insane. It's like kerbal without the performance issues (Or physics so I'm not ragging on kerbal here).
Don't care about losing the campaign, it never seemed that promising. Ideally if it was an MP style version of Supcom with the expanding map it would have been amazing but not worth not playing over. Every map and settings setup is a whole new adventure.
I love the chill factor in Railworlds personally, and setting up the signals for complex multi-train rail networks is my favorite thing about the game. Though in MP you want nasty ass Biters to expand and threaten you to keep you all on your toes.
Wait that's my second complaint. The game setup is super flexible, scenarios effectively infinite but can be hard to understand what kind of game you are going to get. Some more presets tuned for fun would be good!
As for Satisfactory it's a different kind of thing, and nowhere near version 1.0 as far as I can tell so probably safe to wait on it. A bit of a Hybrid between factorio and Subnautica. At first it seems way more shallow than Factorio but the 3d, vertical factories actually look more insane than anything in Factorio but it takes me forever just to get a crappy setup going, I think I will also wait till later to get into it, though it's still worth the money. Maybe if I can find someone to MP with it would feel more satisfying.
