And oh how I laughed...

edit:Maybe I should have read the other comments before posting, bad timing!

My olds are in the same boat, past 50 and enjoying life in the drunkest smokiest meat eatingest way possible whilst still holding jobs. I expect the call any day.

Ouch. Preordered for the PS3 here in Europe, because I thought it looked like a good couch game instead of PC game, and sorely tempted to cancel that preorder now... hm...

Kill it, apparently the best part of the game (Dynamic Enemy generation system) is mega gimped on the old consoles.

Then get a nice long HDMI cable and a wireless dongle for X360 and get it on your PC, everyone I know who bought it loves it.

Won't ever see 4k on a console :))

Won't see it on most PC's for a while either. Seen the Steam Hardware Survey?

Also, game is naff. I don't get it. I mean, I should, one amazing huge Splinter cell map could keep me busy for a while, but this is just junk.

I've been told I just don't "Get it" though, so YMMV.

VR, Elite, Truck sim and Lunar Flight. (And maybe get Kerbal on board, though that game is not ready as is).

Then I will put several thousand dollars into the PC hardware industry that I otherwise wouldn't think worth damaging the family budget with. With Lunar Flight and Truck Sim 2 VR my daughter wont need college!

i tend to believe the redditor. i've personally levelled a 27 titan and i can say with confidence, from a story perspective, the game is a half finished mess. and if it turns out to be true that they cut content so they could include it in the DLC later, i'm done with this game and done with bungie.

Disclaimer: I'm a fan. I think you are being a bit dramatic though.

Judge the game by what it is, if you didn't get your moneys worth then trade it in and refuse to pre-order anything from Bungie or Activision ever again.

Judging a game by what it could have been as opposed to what it is seems ridiculous unless you are an Activision shareholder. All this talk of cuts and 500 million and whatever, pathetic. Every game gets cut. Every game uses cut content for DLC. Judge it by what it is and it's contemporaries. If you hate it then, fine, you are in good company so let that be your reason to boycott.

For my money, I've played it every night since before launch and I am not going to stop any time soon. A bit repetitive for my taste but the Bungie combat makes up for it, so much more fun for me to play than Diablo of Borderlands. When other humans are involved every strike or crucible match is unique despite the common assets. The only recent addiction I can compare it to is my Payday 2 binge and it has similar problems (Whilst being a little higher up in production values).

If those rumours are true, then whatever. The game they wanted to make was obviously going to cost them far more time and money than the deal they had signed with Activision allowed for, and they must have been a few extensions into it already. Would be nice if they made it as intended but who is going to fund that? Especially when your publisher was expecting to take a bath on Titan some time int he next 12 months. Sounds like a typical case of over promising and under delivering from those evil, ambitious and creative devs.

If the rumors are true that is. And since Halo 1 and 2 had similar problems they very well might be. Somehow all these games turned out awesome despite flaws in my book. Better to aim high and recover from a near fatal crash than play it safe and send us all to sleep Ubisoft game 8.

Wrong. Eurogamer is in the list, Blues News isn't.

Whitelist of gamergate.

Thanks! I was double wrong in fact, Eurogamer=Escapist and blacklist=reading comprehension fail (Whitelist just under the blacklist was too much for my Destiny addled mind).

Best thing I have read on this is from Braddy boy of Stardock fame. Has more reasons than most to be mad but is still the voice of reason.

6. Re: Total War: ROME II Emperor Edition & Free Update Released Sep 17, 2014, 03:12 Numinar
The elegance, historiness, fun, drama and presentation of the original was so good.

This felt like a game put together by a lot of people who really cared about what they were doing and thought it all through but didn't think about how the game would play when they put it together. I will try again. Some of the character stuff comes across as CK2-lite, which is great! But implemented and communicated abysmally.

That first game was so good. If they remade that with the new engine it would have made me happy about the 60 euro I laid down on it. As it was I have been super gun-shy about pre-ordering since. And this is from the people who made those amazing Shogun 2 addons? The sins of Medieval 2 and Empire have returned 10 fold.

Might try again, but every time I boot it up to check what sounds like a good patch it ends up not being worth the loading times.

I've been called out for shilling for Halo before, but I'll cop it again.

The environments, enemies and weapons were all more interesting than the generic crap, or worse, gimmicky wierdness on a PC at the time. I wont argue with anyone who thinks Half Life (The Original) is better. The sequel is a bit of a joke, constant loading times and a nonsensical narrative with almost no context.

I just feel halo is more replayable and a way more interesting sandbox with better encounter design than the other paint by numbers "We made an FPS!" PC games. The port wasn't terrible, but subtle differences in the rendering and controller input really make a difference to how that game felt (It was not designed for a mouse).

And theres no Xen!

I loved PC shooters for a long time, I smashed the shit out of All the the ID and Raven Doom engine games, spent nights without sleeping at Quake lans and was all up in Action Quake on my modem. But eventually being a floating gun in abstract geometry against idiotically boring AI lost me.

Replayed the original Dark Forces for years. Dabbled in many other titles. Never stopped owning a gaming PC. But PC shooters were creatively bankrupt for a long time, and Half Life 2 seems amazing mostly because of that crap that came before it along with some of the sweet world building stuff and facial animations. (It's still a dumb story that nobody seems bothered by, but seems to be a capital sin in other games).

Seeing the Halo attract mode on what I considered some kind of shitty kids toy in target sold me on 14 years and counting of glorious fun and caused me to forgive Bungie for abandoning my beloved Myth.

Halo feels like it was made by people who actually gave a shit. Destiny is a little bit simplified to make the co-op work better, but whatever. Light RPG elements beat spending 50% of your game time in an inventory screen.

Ok, will try again. I love Payday 2 and am into Destiny right now which seem similar but this never grabbed me.

It was a massive hack job the cuts in this game (zombie models would disappear a frame before grenades exploded them!), but maybe that is the only way to make people rage enough to change things other than canceling the game for affected regions.

Or Warhammer 40k - Total War Now THAT I would instantly pre-order

Did they get the Fantasy Battle license as well? That world would seem to be a better match for them. I hope they fix whatever issues have been cursing them for the past decade, as they seem to really want to pull this off but only the Shogun 2 expansions have come close to being as fun as the old titles, and even they have issues.

Rome 2 was my biggest disappointment of last year. Should have known how it would turn out given the way every game has gone since the masterpieces that were the original Shogun, Medieval and Rome. I think it's what cured me of buying full price games.

(Until Destiny hit).

24. Re: Morning Consolidation Sep 9, 2014, 03:45 Numinar
Game is great. Biggest problem I had in Alpha/Beta was the shallow busy work in explore mode, but the bounties help give you a goal when doing it and a natural place to stop. Played story missions on Hard up to level 5, seems like the biggest improvements since Beta is that subtle difficulty/AI tuning that other devs don't seem to bother with.

Strike was rough, but in a good way. I think my team mates may not have been alpha/beta vets so we had to restart a checkpoint a lot, but it was fun compensating for them and watching them work it out.

Still nothing like a Halo 1 Elite dual in Legendary yet, but there is still plenty of game left.

Destiny's biggest problem is expectations, which is a communication issue due to incompetence or intentionally misleading marketing so they can sell the game to people who shouldn't get it, although it's very accessible and should have broad appeal. If you didn't like the Beta thats probably a good indicator it's not for you and it was a very easy Beta to get into so that probably makes up for any shenanigans in that dept.

Also all marketing a previews make it look like junk, it's not. Feels like a Blizzard game with Bungie attitude. Would have taken the day off to play but too much going on.

I don't think Linux is day 1, but hang in there! Worth it.

Also survival ranger here... Ranger hardcore is taking the piss a bit with not telling you what's in your inventory. Especially early on the filter situation is rough and you don't want to be guessing!

Now that 4a are in sunny Malta they probably need to switch franchises to Dead Island.

Take Care Phil! We will always have Fez, and you will always have the knowledge that you made one of the most unique and awesome adventure games ever. Much better than a career of derivative junk.

Hopefully you make Bank and can live comfortably doing something that doesn't involve you having to interact with the internet of assholes out there.

Now in my role as KJW, I can vouch for most of that Kerbal mod list. Really good stuff.

Kerbal engineer, Alarm Clock and if you want to learn by watching, Mechjeb are all recommended. I haven't tried the extra parts as I find there is still plenty I haven't managed to pull off with Stock, but they are all thought of highly in the community.

I run some atmospheric, engine and distant object rendering mods as well that are not listed and rightly so as they were a minor pain to set up. Game is amazing vanilla in any case for anyone who likes the idea of combining lego, ballistics and Space.

Uh no, why would they? If anything everything revealed so far will be pretty vindicating. Of course Kotaku will try to downplay something that makes them look bad and this has nothing to do with her sleeping with people, its the context of who those people are in the industry and how they have influenced her press coverage. It also calls into question her character for repeatedly lying and deceiving both the public and those close to her, she has made some pretty serious allegations in the past that are effectively negated by this.

She is a leech on the industry who is out for personal fame and doesn't mind lying to get it, this is a woman who made up rape threats for fucks sake. She has used her internet followers to stamp out other opinions and fucked over other trade shows who are actually serious about social issues. This idiot is not worth defending, it has nothing to do with sexist behavior and everything to do with her being a lying attention seeker who is very destructive. Now this moron is running around with DMCA takedowns and other total bullshit trying to silence the entire thing.

Ok, gotcha. Looks like I have overreacted to internet prick diatribe assuming that was all there was to it. Shouldn't of wasted my time if even half of your story is true as that would take her from reasonably imperfect Indie designer to some kind of nightmare creature.

Looks like I couldn't and wont be bothered to read up more on this but I'll take your word for it because you post on the Blues like an actual factual human.

Highlighting her game in a Greenlight list doesn't seem huge, but if the dates line up then Kotaku should come clean about it and send Jr. on his way out.

A lot of *redacted* probably feel very silly now and will apologize publicly.

Wait, no they don't, they still probably judge Zoe Quin for having a free spirited personality, the baby-murdering act of consensual romance (possibly at the expense of someone else) and an appearance that they apparently find abhorrent. Like that's a crime, or needs to be stated at all.

A lot of commentators seem to have the unusual desire to state their opinion that they wouldn't "hit" it, as if that has anything to do with anything other their own narrow view of what women are good for.

Good thing she wasn't the President. Internet culture was meant to be BETTER than provincial, narrow minded society but it's turned into something so much worse.
