While Starion was a pretty cool game back in the day, I doubt a remake of it would be newsworthy to the extent that edge would bother doing teaser images for it, so my money would be on Elite. However, that ship is from Starion so who knows.

I have no problem with this so long as -

(A) I can turn it off without it taking up any resources.
(B) It stays off without nagging to be turned back on.
(C) Certain games don't rely on it exclusively as a way of updating.
(D) It's not just DRM in disguise.

Imagine how cool PC gaming would be if the corporate drones at EA and other big publishers could see things the same way as CDP. The stupid DRM policies from EA have stopped me from buying three games of theirs already this year and I will continue to draw a line at supporting anything with limited installs or other draconian DRM in the future. CDP on the other hand have had my money for the Witcher and a couple of titles from the GOG catalogue as well as guaranteeing my future custom.

Does anyone know if I have to install the patch 1.4 BEFORE I install the rest of the files, OR is that 1.4 patch included in the Enhanced Edition Update?

1.Download the 1.4 patch
2.Download the language pack(s) - approx. 500 MB each
3.Place all downloaded files in a single directory.
4.Install the Patch (double-click on TWEE_upgrade.exe).
5.(Optional) Download bonus content & soundtrack.

The PC delay is due to manufacturing problems with the microscopic tactical thermonuclear device that will be fitted in every DVD case for the game, EA can't work out how to detonate it if someone tries to install the game more than three times.

I don't know about anyone else but every upcoming game that I was interested in that has anything to do with EA has slid right off my radar now, I would have pre-ordered this without hesitation but however good the game might be I want nothing to do with it now until I hear what kind of DRM they will implement. It would be a shame to miss out on it as I really like the look of this one and developers who try to do something a little different really deserve support but I have drawn a line, restrictive DRM = No sale to me.

I would hardly call Thief 3 a tragedy, granted it wasn't as good as the game looking glass wanted to make and some of the levels were a bit small to help cross platform development for the console toy versions, but that aside it was a pretty good game. T3 was worth playing for The cradle level alone.
DX:IW on the other hand was biggest, stinkiest un-flushable turd of a game ever and should serve as a warning beacon for anything else Smith touches in the future.

And just what are they going to do exactly if I choose to resell MY game after I bought it, lock me up?
I don't give a flying fuck about any license in any game, if I buy it then it's mine, end of story.
Not that I give a toss about this C list game anyway, but even if it was on my shopping list it wouldn't be now, limited activations = no sale.

When I buy a game I own it, it's mine and I don't care about what it says in the EULA, it's still mine and I'll do whatever the hell I like with it and that includes reselling it if I want to. Who the fuck is going to stop me?
Oh and if the any game has limited activation DRM or other restrictions then I won't have bought it in the first place anyway.

I use Amazon UK and from what I can tell from reading the comments section, Amazon removed all of the reviews on the UK site and then added a select few back in (15 at the time of writing). It would also appear that new reviews are not being added at this time as well. Something stinks here.
There is a Digg article about what is going on here-

Well, it looks like Amazon deleted a whole load of customer reviews, at the time I'm writing this there are only 15 left and all from the past couple of days so I guess they did a roll back. There is still a shit storm of negative comments in the discussion section (for now) and the reviews that are left are pretty accurate for the most part, a few still mention the DRM.
Fuck, after all this I think I need to add Amazon to "the list" now.

"I think it would be a shame if people decided to not play a great game simply because it came with DRM"

Well then, I guess it's a shame for me.
I still won't torrent the inevitable day of release cracked version, I'm not a pirate and I don't believe I have the right to play it without paying.
Limited activations are beyond the limit of what I am willing to put up with and will guarantee no sale to me every time. I'll spend my disposable income elsewhere, so I guess it's a shame for the games industry too.

It's almost like they are trying to make sure there is a Diablo III article on every games news site, on every day between now and when it comes out.

But it sure would have been nice to play that "Nerdy" "Deep" and "Unmarketable" game they gave up on.

Just go and play System shock 2

If they remove the limited activations then I might pick this up, but until then my money goes elsewhere.

There are probably a good many pirates who are not dumb enough to try and play online or even allow a pirated copy of a game to access the outside world at all, so the piracy figures could be much worse than they suspect

How piss poor the later levels of the game were and how buggy it is I would never have bought it, I wouldn't even have bothered pirating it either.

Limited activation games are not just done to stop piracy, It's to do with killing the second hand value of the game as well.
This will be the second big title that DRM has put me off buying this year (along with Mass Effect) and no, I'm not going to pirate it as I'm perfectly happy to go without.
