This is going to eat a horrible chunk of bandwidth, it sounds as though it will max out a 5mb connection just to display your game at a low resolution of 720 lines. Multiplayer gaming will be just too laggy to be playable and single player games will feel a bit sluggish at best, and that's if everything is working properly!

So, to use this service I have to pay them, use a ton of extra bandwidth (a lot more than I would have to use to simply download the game in the first place) and all for a much diminished gaming experience.

I think I'll pass.

I just can't watch a channel with that silly name. What are they thinking?

You should try watching the UK version of the Sci-fi channel, it is an appalling mix of cheap ass Z grade US TV series and movies that would be hard pushed to get a direct to DVD release.

Picked up MEPC second hand off Ebay for a fiver last week, I installed it and patched & cracked it without even using an activation up (the guy who sold it to me says he did the same from new, he could be lying but it matters not).
So the DRM failed to stop the game being sold on, it failed to limit the amount of installs I have and I get to own an original copy without EA getting a penny from me, which was nice.

Still no fix for the random team switching between rounds in Vs mode It's not as bad as it used to be after they last said they fixed it but it's still there.

If Duke Nukem Forever had come out when it was originally planned to, it would probably be on good old games itself by now.

The way games are currently released does have some advantage to me as a time poor gamer with a big backlog of games that I want to play. When several triple A titles are released together I generally have to just grab one and leave the rest for later, by the time I get to play most games they are usually discounted and have been patched, I rarely have to pay more than £20 for any PC or PS3 game.

I don't see how spreading out game releases through the year will mean we see more finished and polished games though, they will still be working to a release schedule and the suits will still want them pushed out of the door as soon as possible.

I'm interested in playing this as the original version was a superb game but the marketing drones need to stop using the term "HD" like its something special when talking about PC games, it's starting to get on my tits.

I'm really not bothered about getting EA games on Steam here in the UK now, I was pretty pissed off that we were left out to begin with but the prices of EA games on Steam are still way too expensive compared to retail. Sure, you get a Suckrom free game but for most titles it's cheaper to buy used or retail and get a crack.

They sure as hell need to do something to keep the interest of the GW1 players, there are a lot of people who are running out of things to do in the game (myself included) and with no new content on the horizon and GW2 miles away there are a lot of potential customers who are going to drift away before it comes out.

Okay, Keiron Gillen wrote the Eurogamer review. So that gives this review the instant ignore for me.

Yep, the guy is a twat. I wouldn't pay the slightest bit of attention to any review he wrote.
May he be ever haunted by the glowing review he wrote for Deus Ex:Invisible War for the UK PC Gamer magazine, I stopped buying it after that.
Twat.

it seems like all three editions will be a digitally distributed

On the PS3, seriously!
It's all well and good buying small games and downloading demos to delete a week later on consoles, but with full games the teeny weeny 80GB HD in my PS3 would be filled up in no time.
It's bad enough that a lot of games already hog a good chunk of HD space despite coming on 50GB BD disks.
Another good one from EA's Stupid Idea department.

"I don't think it will ever be fixed and it is a shame because the price of games would go down if the issue was fixed and we'd be able to have more people working on the titles."

Yeah right, the PS3 with zero piracy has the most expensive games of any system because they know that if you want to play it, then you have to pay.

I played the demo on the PS3 and it's pretty good but very frustrating with a control pad, I couldn't help thinking that it would be so much better with standard PC FPS Mouse/keyboard controls instead. I might pick it up for the PC if it doesn't come with restrictive DRM.

REAL gamers have those on CD from way back when

I'm one of those real gamers too but I would still buy them again from GOG if they were fixed to run on XP/Vista, SS2 can be a twat to get running on XP.

On the subject of Valve making up their own exchange rate system (much like they did with their own version of time) where 1USD=1Euro, I have to say that they must have some of the worst PR in the games industry. So far there has been no official comment from them despite the story running on several game sites and there being a good deal of discontent on their own forums. All they have done so far is edit peoples posts in the main forum thread dealing with the Euro rip off issue.

Yep, the headline is slightly misleading, the UK is a member of the EU and the games are not available on Steam here and they have also been made available in other non EU countries.

I guess the UK isn't part of Europe then, I just got my card out and fired up steam to buy Mass Effect but the games don't show up in the store screen for me.
Fuck it, I've lost interest now. Me and my money will go and do something else instead.

Cool, thanks for the update Derek.

Um, Mass Effect was properly cracked a long time ago.

My mistake then. I must have missed the one that worked as I gave up looking after a while, I did a bit of research into the multitude of different cracks that were around and decided not to buy the game because it seemed that while there were a few that worked, they all had issues such as breaking certain features in the game.
