i really don't get far cry. here's this year's open world map, wow, and it sure has lots of icons on it, and it is full of humanoid enemies to shoot guns at. i can't wait to slowly claim all the outposts on the map and then get a downer ending where i choose between two bullshit alternatives that make any investment i was stupid enough to make in the world and narrative feel invalidated, just like all the other ones.
i guess you could level this charge at any game series but far cry is just so nakedly creatively bankrupt. the last one i managed to finish was far cry 2. i think i got three hours into far cry 3, refunded far cry 4 when i saw the asset re-use, and then stopped.

Yeah but how many people actually do that? Most people will do it one way or the other consistently each time. And not being open world means that even if you do it both ways - guns blazing or sneaky bastard - at best you have one extra playthrough. Not very good value for the cost.

So the whole point of the game is to replay the same level(s) over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over trying different paths and costumes ...
Welp. Yawn. More power to anyone who is *that* fucking bored but it's definitely not for everyone. Many people like to finish a level and move on instead of playing hamster in a wheel with a game.

Huh. This sounds really good. What's the catch?Simply being aware that they are available for purchase reduces the immersion in the world
While This may be a PR move, that quote is going to bite them in the ass in the future if they don't ease up on MT next time. I'm actually really surprised that they just came out and said it.

I don't see how this is newsworthy. The game was released on September 27, 2017. They made MILLIONS from microtransactions in seven month. Now it's in the "bargain bin" for residuals from Steam sales and whatnot. When a game hits 6 months a lot of stuff happens (like retail cost dropping 50%). It's a common thing. No one reports that as news.
jamiedj99 wrote on Apr 2, 2018, 21:59:I really doubt they made that much. Anyone playing the game past the first tutorial/intro area should've realized that recruiting captains is kind of one of the core gameplay elements and is a very frequent thing, and anyone making it to the last act of the game (the "grind", where you'd be supposedly wanting to pay for ease) should already be stupidly rich enough in normal currency (especially if you use Marauder items) and have accumulated a few thousand "gold" from story and daily quest stuff if they for some reason decided to pay for captains.
They still ok keeping the couple of million they made of it though
DAI was a huge game and maybe some of us do not even care about certain members of the old cast?

Typical corporate bullying tactics. Wouldn't stand up in court, and would be subject to a SLAPP countersuit.

Do XBox games also give you the same title on Windows? I could see that as being a selling point.

CCP has been a joke for a long time. They have been pay-to-play for years now.
