How are the actual ingame graphics in comparison to what we see in this trailer?

More or less identical provided you have a sufficiently robust machine. The character animations aren't that good of course but those appear to be the real ship models and the race track is now in the game, looks very close.

Of course, the Galactic Gear studio isn't yet in there.

So, it's basically a general lack of trust following MWO coupled with a big WHY THE HELL ARE YOU RUNNING THIS YOURSELF WHEN NOBODY TRUSTS YOU, yes?

It's all of that, plus the thrill of watching the most insanely incompetent PR team probably in the whole of the games industry constantly collapsing upon itself.

Also on the MWO front, they announced the "Community Warfare" module two years ago that would allow for clans, territory control, etc. It was kind of completely dropped until last night: after a shocking number of founders, original backers, came out of the woodwork to point out that there were a number of unkept promises that had resulted in that backlash, they totally announced CW would happen again.

The game doesn't even have out-of-match chat lobbies for christs sake.

How do you get a politician to care about privacy? Convict one of them with NSA data for bribery or some such.

The rest will panic and do something. Until it affects them, who cares.

Huh. I'd followed KSI on Youtube for a little while after spotting him in the KickTV FIFA tournament and found him somewhat funny, but dropped it because funny certainly hadn't been the norm. But I hadn't heard of any of this past stuff. Interesting. Slightly unsurprising.

Children should avoid using tablets because it can lead to "muscle weakness". That's the most moronic excuse I've seen in ages regarding the whole screen-time 'epidemic'.

In fact the article even states

The technology is so new, researchers can’t predict what damage may be done. That has doctors very concerned.

But MUSCLE WEAKNESS!

How many people do you think has stuck their penis into that.

Personally I'd like to praise EA for going that extra mile and finding something else about SWTOR with which to disappoint me.

Kudos. It really takes effort at this point. But when the stakes are high I can always count on them to scrape the bottom of the barrel to cough up the most aggressively disappointing product possible. I mean, the new Sim City: who really expected that it would quite as far as it did down the shithole?

Truly an industry leader.

Aww, come on, Outpost was awesome! I mean, aside from the crushing bug that guaranteed your colony couldn't survive due to inevitably running out of that one bugged resource thereby driving all of your living modules to become red light districts such that your colony almost literally whored itself to death.

Now I think of it, that one's ripe for a remake.

You know, when I saw the unnecessary capitalization in that headline I thought to myself "that's gotta be either The Register or Huffpo." Bam. Nailed it.

I used to have so much respect for El Reg. =(

Nothing to see, but somewhat telling that it needs age verification. Are they anticipating an M rating? Hm.

They do make bacon scented air fresheners. I have one!

They're horrible and smell nothing like bacon.

How, uh... how would one engage in multiplayer in that? Do you just wave to your friend as he trains on by, and then you don't see anyone else until the next station?

And are there clans? *~\{D3th_Cab00$e}/~*|Mr_C0nduct0rz: lol n00b u need moar coal

It's also worth wondering how much the Assassin's Creed 2 sales they're so positive about were driven by hardware bundling. I built a new PC at the same time it came out, and got a free copy with the CPU. What percentage of PC sales of the game were driven by bundling, and what percentage by people willing to suffer the DRM?

$50 says that most or all of them worked on SWG. It won't last long after TOR launches.

Just downloaded it to give it a shot. Fun things I've learned!

1- The load time is pretty long for such a relatively small game.
2- It doesn't add a Windows firewall exception for itself.
3- It crashes when it can't connect to the server for #2.
4- It crashes when you try to change the resolution from 1024x768 to 1920x1200 (repeated three times).
5- It crashes when you try to change the resolution from 1024x768 to the slightly less challenging 1280x1024. Have given up and will drive with jaggies.
6- Guessing the servers are slammed right now, because it's taking ages to decide whether my nickname is in use. Can't do anything until it's done.

So, off to a brilliant start.

EXCITING UPDATE: It also crashes when I exit the game.
