Trump won the election by a margin of like 80,000 votes that just happened to swing the EC in his direction. Despite losing the popular vote by millions.

That's amazing math you have there.

And yeah, f*ck anyone who pretends to be part of journalism and still calls it "hacking"...

I love reading the huge number of posts in that thread that mention cancelling preorders. Just like I love the overall negative review rating from thousands of players of NBA 2K18 and Modern Warfare Remastered. It's about time consumers started pushing back against the never-ending stream of bullshit coming from publishers these days. Fuck EA, Fuck 2K, and Fuck Activision.

Tell me when people are intelligent enough to stop PRE-ORDERING FROM SH*T COMPANIES LIKE EA AND ACTIVISION! Ugh... isn't 25 years of evidence enough?

How about a Xbox one X enhanced patch? Considering the PS4 pro got [one], and the game is only 8 months old... NOPE!

Still a good franchise, whatever you think of the ending of ME3. I like developers who take chances, even if I don't like the outcomes, I think it's overall too rare with popular culture.

I can't honestly say I'd feel so much better if I just beat the bad aliens, restored peace to the galaxy, got a space mansion, and was awarded a bunch of medals and a million space bucks from the space government etc....

I wonder if you'd feel better if you weren't lied to for five years. A great example of a developer that took chances would be BioWare and not BioWarEA.

MMo's take way to much time to level by yourself. If you can get into a group of people and charge through raids, or flash points or any area's where you gain huge xp. I would say do it. I remember playing AION and I stopped because the XP amount got into the millions at a mid level. Talk about a grind fest. If this goes f2p I will give it a try.

Are you the one who wrote the press release?

Accurate representations of the game are not what gets eyeballs on your game. Otherwise trailers would just be a list of game features and/or a story prologue. He draws a parallel to movie trailers saying "They don't just play a violent scene from the movie!" No, but they also need to show the trailer on broadcast television. If they didn't have to worry about that, movie trailers would absolutely be less kid-friendly.

Movie trailers are often very poor representations of what's in a film. Showing only the most actiony bits, and scenes that aren't even in the final cut because they make for a good trailer but a shit film.

Marketing material isn't meant to be educational or informative, it's meant to increase sales. It's the job of people who review products and conduct interviews with creators to get us the information we want.

Oddly enough, we're all attracted to things in different ways. SOME of us are in the "no gameplay? Don't care" camp. Sadly we're a sorely under-served portion of the population, since most people are in the "OOOH, SHINY!" part of the population.

As always, I love the super-mature "if you allow jay-walking, next thing you know murder will be legal" type of thinking of the sensory-deprivation tank citing morons here.

Because, ya know, the only two options are literally the most extreme choices. There's no protecting the kid without completely withholding literally everything from the kid. There's honestly no other way of doing it.

I didn't read the article, just the headline, but...

Um... it's the PLAYER that decides what they value. If they value difficulty, then BAM, difficulty matters. Don't think Rolling Stone should be patronizing gamers and telling them what should or shouldn't matter. There are PLENTY of reasons to value difficulty and PLENTY to say "yeah, remove the difficulty." And, on top of that, many ways to measure difficulty.

"They are celebrating the 15th anniversary of the game's release" (the game referred to as "the classic RPG")

Ugh... I always love when they make sequels with the same name. Can't wait for 2028 and the 15th anniversary of Tomb Raider, with the cherry on top being stupid kids talking about it as "the original."

It's not more extreme, it's more known. This is howned it's ALWAYS been, which, in video game years, means about 40 years. Do you remember (or if you aren't ancient, "have you heard of?") the ET game? Yeah... that was NOT an aberration. That was standard practice at publisher-driven development.

If you don't know the histories already, look up the history of EA and Activision. They were founded on the concept of being the anti-Atari, who was the Big Evil Publisher of the day (and the first MAJOR (stfu Midway Games) US video game publisher) who did this kind of stuff.

It's like when people were complaining about Clinton being un-Presidential with his sex stuff. Not un-true, but DEFINITELY not unprecedented. It was just more openly known *while* it was going on.

So yeah, news to those not on the know, but not news as in something new.

Oh my GOD I loved me some CoD (original). I actually also really enjoyed CoD2, but that was because I didn't fully appreciate the horrors that it would unleash upon the world. It was neato, nifty, new, and kinda innovative in what it brought to console gaming. If only I had realized that it was the sequel to one of the last of the era of great PC-oriented shooters... /sigh...

No, I'm lurking a bit but having some health issues atm so focusing on that. Sigh, getting old sucks. Yeah, unlike ol' Monty there I seriously doubt I'll be making it to 96. Damn, he was married for 70 years, lucky man. Sounds like a pretty charmed life. We should all be so lucky. Oh well, it's like Indy said, "It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage."

Health issues suck huge ones. As a disabled guy I hope your current issues aren't terrible. Best of luck resolving your current health issues.

Yeah, I still recall going from BBS' and Door games to MUDs to graphical MUDSs to MMOs. I probably still had the best times in MUDs. Small, tight communities, using your imagination, difficult as hell, a lot of attachment and sense of accomplishment.

It's amazing how Garriot let Ultima fall by the wayside.

To be fair, he's a pretty rich man with widely diverse interests and abilities. I can't really blame him for cashing out in '92. It's kinda like when your favorite band breaks up after 20 years... sorta of "well, that sucks... but it was a good run" type situation.

Dunno if you're following Portalarium but there are quite a few interesting aspects about it...
