Thanks to consoles alone, no gaming company is willing to take risks on games these days.
Huh? Then how do they stay in business? I'm sure you mean something along the lines "by putting out the same garbage most people have been buying", but even then it's still a risk to put out any game, because there's not necessarily the guarantee it'll sell well.
As for consoles, those have very little to do with the lack of innovation coming out, they're just another medium for people to play games. I know it's fashionable in the PC gaming arenas to blame consoles for all the woes in gaming, but it's not like innovation is flourishing in the PC industry either. Publishers have an idea on what sells and where to sell it, and creativity is suffering across the board right now.
Besides, the plan for Elite 4 was to release it on consoles, too.
Elite 4 is going to the way of DNF.
DNF was at least "in development" for a time. Elite 4 never got off the ground in any form other than a proposal for an MMO and then a single player game. At least Elite 4 didn't go into a really long extended cycle then get trashed because the developer was too stupid to actually attempt to finish it (3DR and DNF).This comment was edited on May 24, 2009, 17:31.
