I was reading some article about the PSP Go and all I can say is "yuck". Sony took out the UMD drive, so no backwards compatibility there, but made it compatible with PSN. It's pretty ugly for a Sony product and seems more like some weird attempt at a purely wireless product than a gaming device.

I don't begrudge companies wanting to move away from cartridges, but Nintendo made the transition over a couple of generations with the DS before dropping support for the GBA carts.

I really can't see the point in getting one.

LOL'ing at Anonymous, the graphics whore. You ever heard of gameplay, son? If you want pure graphics without gameplay, go watch a Pixar film.

I know SecuROM sucks, but was it the crappy DRM driver itself that's been getting developers to remove it lately, or did SecuROM themselves royally piss in the pond?

Tom, great game man. You guys certainly deserve all the praise (and more) for putting it out.

Side note, I went to BB and a few online sites and bought the parts to build a new PC. First completely new desktop in four years...technology has certainly changed (duh, I know), but especially for a guy who hasn't had a new PC in years the differences in The Witcher are amazingly stark (again, forgive the "duh").

...although the Space Marine in Doom2 comes close.

And he does it without his rucksack, which you never see him with. The guy would probably be a walking warehouse with that thing on.

Looks like it's a great time to install the game and finish it finally. I got about 3/4 the way through it and had quit because of LifeĀ© getting in the way.

It's one of those rare games I can't find much wrong with...

Really, and according to the storyline in previous games, Fisher hit his fifties a long time ago...the guy can move, I'll give him that.

yea but, from the the comments it seems that the average joe is farming them, instead of a chinese kid in some sweat shop

Nobody said only the Chinese do it...like I said, I roomed with a couple of kids who did it to pay their FF XI bill.

what is gil? what's the purpose of farming it?

Gil is the currency used in all the Final Fantasy games. And have you heard of gold-farming in WoW? Same thing.

...and he isn't as hardcore as most of his link shard.

In college I roomed with 2 other people for one semester who played FF XI constantly. One said for a time they were making enough money gil-farming their account-dues were essentially free.

U.S. Kids' Lack of Interest in Game Programming is a Security Threat, Says USAF General.

I'm guessing the pool of legitimate people they can hire is drying up. The kids with the real skills DoD could never give a security clearance to nor would they trust private contractors with maintaining this "cyber command". Command and reprimand is a bitch.

Final Fantasy VII hitting PSN today.

haha...finally. I lost my copy of FF VII a long long time ago. I'm really hoping Square-Enix gets off its ass and does a remake of it (one of the rare rehashes I'd love to see done), but oh well, that rumor's been flying around for years now.

I hope it's better than DA for the 360. DA for the first Xbox was pretty damn fun, a far cry from the tech demo Ubi released for the 360.

I thought I was pretty clear.

Sorry, it's a habit of only being able to go off what you read (I'm a translator sitting in what's mistakenly labeled as an interpreter's position). I had to do a little reading on the soft-drink market and there's a shit-ton of people who'll buy both brands, if not three, at the same time. Sometimes more.

And American Idol and crap like it is insanely popular too, that doesn't mean it's good. It just means most people are easily amused serfs with no sense of good taste.

Eh, still doesn't mean the movie was necessarily bad; aside from you comparing two completely different things. Something being extremely popular and not being good is no more guaranteed than the inverse of that example.

I'm one of those rare people that will drink Coke or Pepsi (or even RC!).

Can't be too rare; Pepsi and Coca-Cola make up more than 70% of the carbonated soft-drink market. If you're talking about the rare person who actually drinks both brands, then yeah...I personally can't stand either, but if I can find it here, I'll go for Mello-Yello from time-to-time

The PC gaming platform was quite a bit more vibrant when id did Wolf 3D and DooM...I don't even think EA was yet the semi-monopolistic monolith it turned into years later after DooM.

this better not be like that stupid shite with Ass Creed. Forcing people to climb up a building is a stupid mechanic.

If you took that part out you weren't left with much of a game.

ruthless corp run by whitey shows up and sticks it to the noble savages. Ex-soldier falls in love with the one hot female savage and decides to go native himself and fight the evil corp/whitey.

Sounds like a third of the story from every post-PS1 Final Fantasy I've played.

However, James Cameron get's a pass from me.

Except for true originality (but then what is "original" anymore?), there doesn't seem like much Cameron can't do with a movie. I've enjoyed pretty much everything he's put out (even Titanic, even if my favorite part was watching the boat sink...heh).
