Enjoying CKIII so far, doing better than I did with CKII, not sure why. I was able to unite Ireland with the tutorial for the first time which gave me some much needed confidence. I also found this YouTube-r helpful for how a person that's good at the game (not me!) plays it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlGqM9HCWJk

Another good CK3 YouTube'r that is helpful (shows how to conquer Ireland): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCc43BtQeYU

Played the tutorial last night, much to learn but I'll see if I can overcome the steep curve. Next we speak, I will be King of Ireland!

I found CK2 tough to get into (wanted to enjoy it, steep learning curve) even after watching a lot of "Let's Play CK2" YouTube videos. Maybe I'll take another run at it with CK3 since it's on the XBOX Game Pass already. Worth a try at least, CK2 got a lot of good reviews, Very Positive on STEAM.
I'm and idiot when it comes to these games and CK2 just clicked for me. I've mostly figured out Stellaris, but I struggle with EUIV. My 11 year old son has figured out Imperator Rome and HOI IV, so he helps me out.

Reality is that you just need to grind long enough and the game will start to make sense. Once that happens, you can relax and just enjoy it. It's also best to learn the game without any DLC enabled so the scope is substantially reduced. Getting into CK III now is probably the best time... once the DLC hit and mechanics get major overhauls, it gets so much harder to learn as all of the tutorials get outdated.

Agreed, it takes some investment in time for these grand strategy games. I do well in Stellaris these days, but I do remember having to play a handful of games with many start-overs to actually understand the nuances to have a chance to do well. It seems CK3 needs the same time and commitment to learn. I agree with Beamer, time is a harder commodity to get these days with family and responsibilities, but I think I'll give it a go and chip away at it to see if I can pick CK3 up and do well. You read the reviews (CK2 at least) and it does sound like a fun game, sounds like some crazy stuff can happen.

We have a couple of Quest devices in our household, they are impressive, especially with the Virtual Desktop App and the ability to play PC VR STEAM games wireless. This constraint is unfortunate and I won't be purchasing an Oculus Quest (or equiv.) in the future, I have no wishes to be part of the Facebook ecosystem. Hopefully another vendor can provide wireless VR similar to the Quest in the near future.

Oh yeah... 100% going Oculus Quest wireless to the PC using Oculus Quest Virtual Desktop (SideQuest) to play this game... can't wait!

Sometimes you just want to get a certain voyage done but end up fighting off attackers instead. I've spent hours completing voyages only to get sunk by a fully crewed galleon and having all my loot stolen. It can be frustrating, and if you don't think you could shake that off, I'd probably give it a pass. Personally, I like having that constant threat looming over me.

Sounds like old school Ultima Online (UO) where you never felt safe out of the towns (barely safe there). UO on the high seas! May be interesting to check out.

Having a BLAST with No Man's Sky. Got it with the 50% off sale, happy I did!

We have an Oculus Quest in the household and this game plays great in it (via the Quest Virtual Desktop App to gaming PC) with the touch controllers so I can sit back in my comfy office chair and do wireless VR with NMS. Also cool is that you can switch from VR back to kb/m, and vice-versa, with the same game-play session so you aren't locked into VR.

Few hours in, enjoying NMS muchly.

Let me tell you about an experience you can only have in VR.

I start the game on the railed balcony most of you have probably seen by now.

I spend the first 5 - 10 minutes tweaking settings, getting everything perfect for moving forward. From there I decided to just relax and take in the site. There's a lawn chair you can pretend sit on; a radio you can tune (the antenna works too); cans you can crush, etc.. Finally I decide to throw a glass beer bottle off the side, so I do while leaning on the railing so I can watch it fall...

...except the railing doesn't actually exist so I fall flat on my side.

No joke.

This actually happened. My instinctive desire to lean on the railing + a split second of being completely lost in the moment gave me a (dumb ass) gaming moment I will never forget.

Well guess it was worth the 1000$+ to experience that.......

Oculus Quest can do this for $399 with a PC that can run HL:A today.

VR is what makes the game fun (so far). Let me describe my first death.

There were a group of barnacles blocking my path forward, long tongues touching the ground. I don't have enough ammo to shoot my way through, so I need to find objects to toss into the traps.

That's all classic HL2 gameplay.

I see a dead body, and figure, why not this guy? I teleport to exactly where I want to stand, barnacle to my left and the body to my right. I reach out with my hands and start pulling the legs of the dead guy. Then I notice a glowing collectible under the body, so I walk closer and pick that up. Back to the task, I start pulling the body again but realize now that it's stuck. I reposition myself and give it a big heave... and finally things start to move... but I'm being hoisted up! I must have backed my butt right into the barnacle, and I'm getting higher by the second.

I look up and and its teeth are chomping, saliva raining down. I desperately switch to my pistol, and fire off a handful of rounds in a panic. They all miss. My pistol is empty and I fumble to put in another clip. Things are getting darker, and I drop the ammo! I watch it bounce on the ground while sloppy teeth bite above me. I have enough time to look up and cringe to the sight and sound of my own decapitation.

Classic HL2 death, but in VR, it felt completely different.

Convert that experience to M+KB, and you may as well replay HL2.

Well said!

As a holiday present, I bought my 12 y/o son the Oculus Quest, which of course I had to try for myself. I've been playing video games since the Atari 2600 and I find myself saying, "Oh wow!", quite often with Oculus Quest as the whole VR scene is new to me and I'm blown away by how immersive of an experience it is. Vader Immortal was just amazing and really showed me what VR can do.

I will need to upgrade my home PC to play Alyx (using a link cable with the Oculus Quest) but look very much forward to it.

EDIT: I have played SkyrimVR with my PC + Oculus Quest, just an awesome experience!

I have about 20 hours into the game (Act 2), I find it to be just as much fun as any other ARPG (Diablo, TQ, GD, etc.) on the market. The graphics are top notch, combat is similar to D3 with MOBS having some rag-doll physics (launching in the air, over/off cliffs, etc.), builds are very flexible as there are no fixed classes (like Diablo 1), story isn't any worse then any other ARGP, and I have run into very few bugs to hurt my experience and fun.

The "offline" mode is moddable so the community might create some cool content, maybe even a Diablo 1 redux.

For such a small dev team, I think they did an incredible job with Wolcen.

Would like to see more single player content created, the little bit they had with the original SWB2 was fun, gorgeous engine with this game.

Having a great time with the game in SP, Offline mode. Definitely feels like Diablo and PoE combined into one game. I haven't come across any bugs just yet. Pretty impressive what this small indie company pulled off.

Played for a few hours last night, had a good time. Definitely a hybrid of Diablo and PoE, in a very good way. Very happy to see an OFFLINE mode for those of us that will mostly play SP and shouldn't need an internet connection to play. So far so good IMHO, glad I purchased it, fun ARPG!

I've always loved the concept of this game, but from the start it's like this project was cursed. Done right this could still be great. I just don't expect it will be.

Blizzard should do this with the Diablo IP w/o the "aggressive business model". Borderlands but demonic.

I thought HG:L was a good concept as well, I had some fun with play-through as the soldier/sniper class,

Flagship just went overboard with adverts and subscription model dividing the customer base.

Yes, Borderlands in a post-apocalyptic, demon-infested London? I still drool over the concept. Hellgate London should have been brilliant. But all too often we see that great concepts don't equate to great games. Still, so enamored am I with this setting and potential that I will try it again, hoping beyond hope that they get it right this time.

I still have the original disc install and I'm sure the patch is out on the internets somewhere, be interesting to take it for a spin, especially with a much better graphics card.
