Good try by employers to sponge off even more costs to their employees, so the CEOs/Shareholders can pocket even more money.

Soon we'll have required company housing and suicide nets like Apple's factories in China.
Given that the source of this little gem is Gartner, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

I would say survival horror got its start with the original Alone In The Dark game in 1992, not Resident Evil. I still have my copy of this game, although I bought the GOG.com version to play on Win 7. There is a wikipedia entry for this game at:

My 6870 won't be far behind. I may have to get a second one and try it in CrossFire mode. At least they're getting almost inexpensive.

Sounds more like a CYA ploy on the part of the politicians that approved the deal in the first place.

Funny how the libs here ignore posting on stories like these two. No the government isn't out of control and corrupt, no they're not taking measures to destroy privacy rights and turn the US into another nanny state not at all!

The FBI has been trying to get as much power as they can to watch everything imaginable for far longer than the current President's terms in office. But, that's okay, you keep those blinders on nice and tight and make sure you turn up the talk radio volume to drown out anything else you might otherwise hear.

Team Meat: DRM worse for devs than piracy…

Beautiful.

He went on to say that consumers were much more likely to buy from distributors they trust rather than ones they have been frustrated or slighted by before, with consumer confidence playing a huge role in how they spend money.

Holy shit, someone gets it.

Now, if only more publishers would get it...

Every form of communications in China is censored and spied upon. The only news here is that Network World seems surprised that Skype is, too.

I tried Redbox Instant during the beta. It was okay, but the selection was severely lacking, especially for streaming. The DVD credits were nice, but I stream content so I don't have to deal with discs. The four credits were enough to let me know that getting and returning DVDs is far more trouble than I want to go to, especially with the nearest Redbox kiosk being 12 miles away.

What a shock, a Microsoft-commissioned study shows that software piracy is out of control and costing them a fortune. They use the same type vastly over-inflated numbers to make their case, numbers which are only believed by elected officials who then come up with crap like the DMCA and punish consumers even further for having the audacity to purchase software legally.

Those NPD numbers seem like pure horseshit. The sweet spot is $299 for core gamers and that's usually at least 2 years after launch.
All of NPD's numbers are pure horse shit.

9. Re: EA All-in on Microtransactions Feb 27, 2013, 09:43 ldonyo

This isn't new at all. EA has been all-in on microtransactions since they started selling stadiums and uniforms for Madden years ago. If people hadn't been stupid enough to eat that shit up back then, the DLC explosion of crapware would never have taken off.

Probably means that the things that were cut, if fully fleshed-out and fixed, could be stretched into five or six full games if published by someone like EA.

Funny, neither is anyone else.

I don't know if that's funny, but it is true, especially with Windows 8.
