They releasd this comment just incase we seemed to be distracted by other games on the market. This is just an advertisment as a reminder. Hey dudes, dont forget about TF2! oh yeah and we will remind you about Portal and EP2 later.

I am sick and tired of being brainwashed in BattleField2 game every time I log in (eventually when it decides to let me log in) first thing I see is the BattleField 2142 splash.

Does anybody know how to stop this crap, aside from not running BattleField 2 (I will do that once QuakeWars is out :))

I bet he rushes out to buy Vista too even though nothing works on it too well

Destroys iPods, destroys RAW image metadata, mobile sync doesn't work (Mine sits connected for 20 mins and still no Sync!), RDP doesnt work too well, theming messes up etc etc the list goes on.

Come to think of it, go back to playing BF2142 on Vista you will have a ball

I agree totally, why rush when you can wait on all the patches and the price to drop

I guess I just found out what kind of numpty rushes out to buy defective products and not only that, pays a premium to do so!

HL2 was great, Episode one was nothing inspiring (I ended the game feeling ripped off - not something you want your customers to experience as it gives them doubts in your future products). Episode two better be much better and last more than a few hours otherwise there will be no Episode three out of my wallet I am not planning on paying another 20 bucks to fight swarms of yet more zombies, how about some new material?

Portal needs a multiplayer mode to have any logitivity and variability.

Team Fortress 2 needs some large maps and not just crapfest small maps.

I have the feeling they are going to have a shallow Episode Two just like Episode One and then lean on TF2 and Portal for the value in the product.

I don't have high expectatons for Episode Two and thus won't be paying full asking price for it, they brought it on themselves by the shallow Episode One.

Why dont they just release over Steam and have it done with? These games have a dependancy on Steam to run anyway.

I say just scrap the retail channel for the realease and publish on Steam only.

Will they have a recycle policy for activated retail channel games? I think it is time to require publishing companies to have a recycle policy for their products.

Please give trial access (FULL ACCESS for a limited period) to Portal and TF2 via Steam once it is released.

Also, it would be nice ot have LARGE maps otherwise it just turns into a scrumfest, in which case I may aswell buy Unreal Crapfest 200Whatever.

And I refuse to pay more than 19.99 USD (given the current USD exchange rate is pretty favorable to us)for HL2:EP1, TF2 and Portal bundle.

Talking of pricing, when will we be able to purchase in other currencies on Steam, EUR, DDK, SEK, GBP, NOK, ISK etc?

Thanks

Dont buy games without trying first then. More fool you

Public pre release tests are a great way to get feedback, but mostly from whiners so it can backfire and narf the game you would have liked.

Guest passes (new Steam feature being trialed and presumabl up to the publisher to offer this) are a great way to get new customers by offering a limited time FULL ACCESS with option to continue by paying for the product.

This is the only real way to sell a sucessful product (game). Give FULL ACCESS for a free limited period.

It is better for them to walk away from the trial period than to let them buy it and walk away FOR GOOD, PERIOD with a bitter taste in their mouth (EA/DICE BattleField 2 milking is a great example of this).

If they believe in their product they should have nothing to worry about and welcome this. If they dont, they are obviously not belivers in their product and their work and it is obviously not worth buying that they have to sell it via deception and the business model of grab as much money as you can and dont listen to the customer, this is a proven failed business model. Sure you may get alot of money on that sale but word spreads fast and the next product may not sell so well (EA/DICE BattleField comes to mind again)

Preorders are indeed bad, preloading however is great

Free demo's are great, free guest passes are great. All good business concepts. Very customer friendly too.

I just described the Steam business model

Lets not forget, with HL2: Episode 2 you get Team Fortress 2 AND Portal.

3 good games for what? 30ìsh bucks?

I agree, only a numpty pays full labeled price for products these days. The same numpties that queue for days for the Christmas sales and for the PlayStation 3 or Wii concoles.

You can purcahse online from anywhere in the world for less.

You can purchase without media by downloading the client, and pay for activation of the product.

Steam for online delivery (pitty they only price in USD but at the current exchange rate USD is worth pennies anyway ), www.play.com always has great deals (EU wide shipping included in the price).

I am going to purchase this on Steam most likely unless I can get it cheaper on play.com or some other online store.

Search engines, pricing comparer engines are your friend, use them ALWAYS And dont forget that Monty Python Life of Brian sketch, you have to haggle. The lost art of haggling

I strongly recommend changing your CC numbers after you cancel as CCP have a history of continuing to charge cards

Not long ago a CCP employee actually started attacking and encouraging the fanbase to attack a wiki that was posting technical details (very legal in many countries actually) of the EVE client and so on.

For such action to be encouraged by CCP employee's is disgraceful.

Then you can always look at their charging scams, even after cancelling they have continued to charge CC's for use even though they have cancelled! I seriously recommend changing your CC numbers after you do cancel just in case they do it again.

CCP have a spotted history of underhanded tactics.

I did enjoy EVE but it is a huge time sink, something I would rather spread across a couple of good games and also OUTSIDE And the fact that they give in to the whim of a bunch of whiners on chat and start heavy handedly threatening customers for very very little things. Sometimes people lose the plot that it is just a game and CCP lost the plot that we are PAYING CUSTOMERS. Good thing about subscription games is, you can vote with your wallet and they can get the message very very quickly

Why do people still care about this pos game? Move on! There is plenty of other games out there to have more fun in. BF series has had its time, they milked it, its not fun anymore.

So far theyve covered the past, present and now the future with various scenarios. What more ORIGINALITY can they bring to this game? None.

It was a date driven release, it wasn't for RTM and shouldn't have been released but they couldn't delay it anymore. It was a management BALLS UP. Windows team is getting a reorg, to bring it into shape like the Office team, simple as that. I'm just glad I'm not on the Windows team at this point in time, a lot of people are going to feel rather worried

Its not the fact it sucks resources, its the fact its just not ready. Period.

Talking of management balls up, there is way to many chief's at this company The internal infighting amongst teams and employees is just stupid.

Anyway even with a monster machine, I wouldnt waste that power on Vista, which WILL suck the crap out of it (even with the glossy bits turned off), I would rather that goes to the game

most people will be using DX9 Supprise supprise.

Nobody but an eejit would use Vista in its current state on their personal machines.

Well, Vista release day was pretty much a damp squid Wheras when Apple bring out a different shade of black or red for their products, the world goes nuts

I dont want Linux either ( not in its current state anyway ). I agree, Linux sucks the shit as a personal machine.

I would love to go to OS X, that is a more realistic route, but only if OGL gets more adoption on game engines and more software gets ported.

As for forced upgrades, we get forced by OEM's when we buy hardware ( I use laptops mostly and spare me the laptops are not for gaming bs ). The first thing I do on my laptops is reformat and install an OS and replace the HD

I think I will try to raise the question of NV and AMD's contribution to OGL at the next conf call
