Those times are disapearing and about time too.

What do you do after you install the game and image the disc? Nothing it just sits there being wasted. Thats what happens to mine.

I would love to see how the market would be like if we had a standard agreed for a download and game manager that works with all game images out there and we can pick and choose our own payment method.

Think Steam but standardised.

I have some games, that i got in the retail channel but I am unable to activate it for the Steam version.

Their pricing is not compatible with that scenario, the developer doesnt want us to steam enable our retail copy which sucks. I wouldnt even mind paying a small token just to get the Steam enabled version but no Im not paying 19.99 USD plus whatever tax they use (I assume its the country's tax the CC is for in which case I have a choice and pick the lowest taxable one).

Since the price of this is higher than the retail channel discounts now I wont pay for a steam enabled copy. If they reduce it, perhaps I will.

They really need to work on their pricing plans.

I dont mind activation such as Steam because it is hassle free and I get alot more for free by using Steam or something like it I want more of it thanks.

I dont want to have to wait a week on delivery from www.play.com I want to pay and play.

I want more of the nice central management of Steam.

If you dont like it, dont buy it and dont even give it the attention they want you to give it, dont even give them an excuse to cry foul, dont steal it.

What better way to invoke change and get the message across to them?

IGNORE THEM!

If they used a system such as Steam or even Steam itself if they cant do better, then we would free weekend trials not limited demos, we would have instant access to all the games available, we can play them anywahere, lower prices as no media to distribute, more competition, its a big ass virtual store shelf.

If not, then they end up being like the music and video industry, left behind.

They think they can get us to install a download manager for every publisher? Wrong, think again, we need a standard system. If they cant do better, use Steam.

I want all my games managed by a single client not 10 or 20 different ones.

I am sick and tired of StarForce etc arnt you?

I have some of my games managed by Steam I would like more that way thanks.

If you claim that CD checks cause you to steal, go here http://www.gamecopyworld.com/ or use Alchocol 120% or something or better yet, dont buy the game, you dont NEED it.

Give us a better delivery method.

Agree on some kind of standard delivery and authentication method, something like Steam, not perhaps Steam itself but something like it.

Like it not Steam is here and it is solving some of the problems, while it is not great, it is best of its class out there today.

The last thing I want to do is to have to install 20 download managers in order to purchase and play my product as this is where it is going, we have Steam, we have Sprocket etc I ONLY WANT ONE just like an email client.

Media distribution is disappearing in time, this issue needs to be addressed. We need a STANDARD so we can pick and choose our own clients that connect to the same gaming network.

MS Live will be one, Steam another, cant we agree?

Where is open source etc when you need it, cant they INNOVATE? Meet the demand, fill the gamer needs?

We need an standard ID, we need a standard delivery network, we need a standard image format, we need this to be distributed, we need this to be a level playing field for all game houses we need a total game ecosystem not just for the gamer but also the publisher/development house.

Form a working group to push this or something, get all the shareholders (those with a vested interest, the gamers, the publishers, the dev houses etc) involved in discussion and agree on something.

.. of chasing her bottom.

I see Team Fortress 2 and Portal as the main purchases and Episode 2 as a bonus freebie.

HL2 Episodes are more of the same really, yawn, yet more zombies, why cant we drive a Strider?

How about some new material?

HL2 is getting long in the tooth, I would not buy it if it wasnt for TF2 and Portal, period.

If the episodes are getting smaller in dev cycles, I want smaller prices or they get smaller purcahses as we all wait until it is discounted.

Seriously, now we are going to have to isntall a starburst of "download managers" in order to download our purchased games.

Why dont they all agree on a standard like Steam, perhaps not steam but something like it so we can all get along with any client we choose, just like an email client.

"Terraformed" Mars

They are using the Mar's location in order to have alien artifacts, a huge generator, a mind reading muppet and a glass dome.

Would you prefer a WW2 setting on Earth? There just isn't enough war theme'd games around.

Is this going to be a subscription game? Probably.

CryTek engines always had nice large scape maps and long visibility ranges with great lighting and environments.

How will it cope with a large volume of users and still retain this quality?

I hope they dont reduce or sparse out the map objects just to handle it.

UT3 engine has "streaming" map loading, will they add this to CryEngine to enable a large "world"?

Anyway, when is somebody going to make a Tribes2 clone/mod for this engine

There is a huge high quality DnD massive online game that is being developed, anybody remember the name of it?

Terraformed Mars means we get aliens artifacts etc? Can we start the reactor? 2 weeks... 2 weeks..

Takes way to long to create a game so they are now reducing it and going episodes. This is a good thing especially on MMOG's because it means an ever changing and evolving game.

Don't use eBay then. Use a proper online store, do the research read the reviews past customers etc.

Ordering within the Eurozone is piss easy and pretty much hassle free without worry, pretty much its well aligned with the Eurozone.

You always have your Credit card protection if that is what is worrying you and you can report them as a fraudlent merchant to the payment service they use. The payment service is usually owned by a major bank.

When I play I get the largest bat I can find to hit the ball, a very large bat is the merchant's payment service. Without them the merchant (store) cant sell anything If they get stuck on a watch list or dropped off theyre fcuked. I have had to call WorldPay once about a store (pretty Big name store) since I had some problems getting in contact with somebody at the store so after the payment service called them their manager was on the phone pretty damn quickly. Payment service watch lists and reports of fraud strike the fear of god into online stores.

For the UK the big ones are WorldPay - owned by Royal Bank of Scotland and Protx. I always try to stay with the big name and bank owned payment services for an online store, they are reliable and a pretty damn big bat to play ball with if you ever need to

I have no worries when I order online. Anyway its just a damn computer game, its not worth collecting, thats just sales PR to get more money out of you along with the various colours of boxes (black and white) that you cant decide which one to get you just get both.

Dont be a sucker and dont purchase box sets, theyre a rip off.
