Also, it is a bit unfair to compare DoW after two expansion packs to CoH.

That is what they are doing: "Starting on October 11th, the prices of weapons and equipment in Counter-Strike: Source will be updated each week based on the global market demand for each item."

I don't think I got a cloth map with NWN1.

According to the patch notes I've seen, this is at least the third or fourth attempt at it.

There was a server setting that made it so spies became invisible instead of disguising, though I thought it was lame.

If they're working on games that we the public are looking forward to, why would they hide in the shadows?

I think they mean that they don't want it to be public that they are working on Dave Perry's game because they are working for whatever other companies also. I'm sure they'll get credit for whatever other game they are working on, they just don't want credit for this one.

You can just make the tax breaks tied to the price of oil, which is a proxy for profits.

Looking at those webpages, they have different "regions".

If you don't think politics is involved, just look into how much each person in DC gets from big oil.

I grew up in DC, but I don't remember getting any money from big oil.

I think the tax incentives for these oil companies should only be in effect when they're below a certain profit margin.

There's at least one tax incentive for exploration that is supposed to work like that, but I read that lawmarkers basically made a mistake, so it doesn't.

This can't be good for Pirates of the Burning Sea, another forthcoming pirate-based MMORPG.

Gogamer gave me a free copy of Soldiers, I think, but I haven't bothered to install it.

I was really hoping they might actually innovate and do something new with the franchise.

Hey, they have a new gameplay mode! And... a new game play mode. And... did I mention giant robots?

I think people were more blown away by the large, interesting world of Morrowind, not by the free updates. I personally never even bothered downloading them.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "pay to play" model. All commercial games require you to pay in order to play them. An ongoing charge, like DDO, seems very unlikely. Even Oblivion, which you are obliquely referring to, does not go down this road.

On my LCD, the demo was very blurry. Not really the game's fault, but it made it a bit unpleasant to play. Plus, I played Dungeon Siege 2 in the last year, so I have my fill of Diablo clones for the moment.

I'm sure they'll make World of Starcraft at some point...
