Different Chris Taylor, than the one that owns Gas powered Games. AFAIK, CT from GPG never worked on Fallout.

You could take it to different platforms???

I didn't see that coming a mile away!

Info like this makes me wonder if the game will be a snooze fest.

It sounds like mass commercialism and dumbing games down to a least common denominator casual Sims type player.

There is little doubt the game will go multiplatform and from the sounds of that, it would work well for a Wii audience too.

MMO's are so money centric that they are now having members do their recruiting. Pyramid scheme on the way.

"I don't know too many people who are willing to give away a 12-hour game for free."

You mean like Crytek did with modding tools to boot?

Lamers. I'll wait for reviews then.

Good review.
Many people rationalize away all the games weaknesses.

It's funny to me that the whole idea of MMO's subscription is that more of the money would go into a better made product. Shouldn't it?

I guess it really means keep paying and we promise we will fix it and make it better, even if they do it's too little too late.

The 80Mb video was decent.
Personally i'd like to see what happened if you came in for reentry to steep, but I'm pretty sure they won't model any decent explosions due to previous catastrophe's.

Hmm... I'll have to see it to believe it. Yes it won't care if it runs off MAC, PC or iphone because it will be 3 pixels being moved around with a keyboard. What about HW reqt's? No more GPU's or decent graphics? No more decent sound? It will run on a Pentium 350?

Sounds really exciting!

If you are talking peggle that has been on the web for years, like casual games that have been their for a decade.

Currently the games I play require 10GB - 20GB of local files for the assets of the game, with over a GB loaded into memory when starting a level.
I'd like to see browser based games pull that off well like the local counterparts, without having to wait overnight for a level to load.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention if websites can't even support multiple browsers properly I'd like to see these big games do it. Opera will likely just laugh at those games.
PC, Mac, or iphone just make sure you use an IE browser.

Cool more shooting in dark hallways. Gaming at it's finest, like 10 years ago.

Only now it will be built around a 3 year old video card for a console, it shouldn't be ugly but won't be what doom3 was at the time.

If only id could be as creative with it's games as they are with the tech. Of course it will still sell because it's id and it's Doom.

If you don't like it then go play on consoles aholes.
This is a required step to insure PC gaming survives.
You foolish complainers never do anything to attack the REAL cause of the problem, the pirates. Instead useless complainers only attack the people that get stolen from and have to protect their product.

It shouldn't have the 5-10 day connection that may be easy to circumvent, it should require connection every run and authenticate.

Amazing that as soon as someone tries to protect their work THEN people come out of the woodwork to comment and complain, otherwise those same people offer nothing productive. They talk a lot but provide nothing beneficial.

This is great news but I don't believe the securom method will be effective or robust enough, it will likely be circumvented too easily.

Paying $250 for a game, let alone an MMO, in your dreams.

I'd pay up to $75 for a great game/RPG but not an MMO.

Consolitis involves far more than just interface design. Every fundamental design choice is shaped around the console and its target audience.

That is definitely true and most people lack the foresight to see that if PC were to disappear all game quality would soon suffer. Consoles of today and their currently best games wouldn't be here if it wasn't for PC gaming (HW and games). The PC developers that have been producing the best console games for the last couple years, once they start to just develop on console exclusively some of that out of the box thinking that PC afforded for years will be gone. Just from an artistic perspective, games will begin to stagnate and slow down in their evolution.

I've experienced console gaming since Atari 2600 and computer gaming since the TRS80 and Apple2e. I've gotten to see why computers were superior for many years as a platform even when it had so many hurdles with HW reqts and user ignorance.

"The days of Tribes, Deus Ex (the original), Wing Commander, Freespace, et al are OVER. We will never see triple-A quality games being released only for the PC anymore. And before you say "Why not?" it's can drastically hurt sales if it's given PC exclusivity."

I enjoyed the hell out of Crysis, so you would be wrong using a real recent example!
But in the future, some day soon, you may be right and what can be done in games, that only a PC allows, will disappear being replaced by the same canned console stuff we have seen for the last 20 years.

I do think it is kind of crazy how people, like in this thread, are preaching the doom of the PC. That is the worst thing going for the PC right there.

If people keep saying that, yes it will happen because suits will end up believing it even though it doesn't need to be true.

The worst "real" thing for PC is the ease in porting to console today and minimalistic PC ports as sloppy seconds. A time real soon may come that the PC will bring nothing unique anymore with everything existng on 360, with it as the lowest common denominator, their will be little reason to drop $300 for a GPU if that is the case. That's my biggest real concern in the next year, but as long as PC games stay different enough, with some unique games, then I will continue with the PC platform no doubt.

Isn't the creature editor going to be the whole pull of the game?

People are going to get excited to buy the game only to find out after the creature editor it's just creature SIMS, with no engaging game play around it. If I want creature/pet sims I've got pet stores down the street.

Are people still really falling for the whole DX10 thing?

Nice tech demo but the DX10 train has left the building and derailed already.

I enjoy review #'s plenty, gamerankings.com for instance helps me choose games often. Some written details can be useful too, but sometimes what is written is worse in content than just a number score itself.

The 10 should be rare, but not impossible. Maybe one 10 a year or two. Reviews are very subjective so some reviewers may be so opinionated that they always find flaws, hence never a 10.
