Sometimes, you have to just realize you aren't good in business. Now go to actual work as a bus boy, bank teller or grocery checkout clerk and maybe there you can actually produce something more than hype and disappointed investors.

from the times, I have played it I wish unit control was better, having to jump around the map and not be able to select or deselect units easily was a pain in the ass. I often sent units retreating that I wasn't trying to.

Maybe I need more time but the command and control system seems wanting.

The public beta has been horrendous, over the last week. Infact you really cant play and if you do you are bombarded with lag messages all of the time. Other times you get kicked from the lobby and I have a kick ass connection. I am totally suprised they went gold with current issues like this. But it does have autopatching so I guess their will be a few waiting for the retail folks.

They will still have the beta going till release so maybe I will be able to play again (if they get it working before it hits shelves). Which makes sense because how are retail folks going to get patches unless we test them to get Relic Online working properly over the next month

It's the old sell it now and patch it later routine. Unless it's just their servers and network is hosed, that would be a saving grace.

The game is pretty cool though when it works, not manna from heaven, but cool.

Marketing is about branding.
So what in the heck do we care about branding for?
What a waste of news space, rumors and controversy.

What we care about is how the ATI assimilation is going to impact us with graphics. Not what the hell the name is. ATI is dead and gone, regardless of the name branding, things will definitely change in the months/ years ahead and their is no way AMD execs know more about the graphics industry for their changes to be actually better changes.

Well, that's because supreme commander is different. They have been letting people know how huge maps are for over a year now. Maps that take a supersonic plane 7 full minutes form end to end. Maps so large it can take 2 hours to find your enemies base (obviously their are smaller maps). And have the ability to "smoothly" zoom from the unit to the entire map is incredible.

Whatever those other games have in units and map sizes multiply it by ten. That's why it can't be as pretty as AOE3, Earth2160 or RON, because our puny hardware couldn't render it all at a playable frame rate.

I'm glad they decided to take RTS's to the next step and as a result have to sacrifice a little eye candy.

Every Friday the official site has updates, with new planets, screens, units, characters, etc.

Why report the old stuff on these sites that doesn't even reflect the engine anymore when the official site updates new stuff every Friday.

BTW, After about loading a game 30 times over a month I am usually done with the title and moving on from boredom to the next new thing.

I guess the devs are going it alone and trying to keep publishing in house to control the game better, but they will lose out on marketing. So buy it if you like it want to support the devs and not the middle men publishing fiends.

They really could change the game experience alot with a real tutorial.

Having to read all the things you could do, then going to some other screen, is pretty bad. A real tutorial that "shows you how" as you do it, is much better.

Bad first impression, making the game too much of an inconvenience rather than enjoyable.

Too bad I was looking forward to trying it but even free i couldn't spend more than half an hour with it.

I like the outdoor scene in the forest too, looks nice. I'll have to say this about Valve, they have taken this episodic route but up till now I can say they really seem to continue improving things instead of reusing the same assets and that makes it well worth it. Glad to see they continue to improve things.

It was rated pretty high overall at gamerankings http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages4/914954.asp. Alot of sites do 4 out of 5 because they don't do decimals and can't give it a 85 or 90 and it doesn't deserve 5. Stupid rating systems. Why can't people stick to 0 - 100

Mark is right on onboard intel graphics causing issues for people. Games today require 64MB - 128MB graphics with the ability to push some decent effects with shader 2.0 soon becoming a standard if it isn't already.

I'm suprise how gamers have horseblinders on and don't realize that MOST people still buy PC's off the shelf from OEM manufacturers with onboard video to keep the costs down. The salesman tells the buyer this super fast computer is a 3Ghz celeron with 512MB RAM blah blah. Normal Joe's don't know that the game they buy off a shelf won't work on their PC and that is the real problem. Retailers get huge complaints from people trying to return games because they can't run on their store bought machines (publishers have those figures). Those same people who would like to be able to play games, but can't run the game at all because it doesn't have shader 2.0 or enough VRAM, have no idea how to add a pci express vid card or even how to buy one, so they give up trying to buy games because it's too much hassle for them. If you just had a better vid card in the box the rest of the specs would be fine most of the time, albeit they couldn't run at high res but atleast it would actually run the game instead of immediately CTD because a user doesn't know what pixel shader their vid card supports or if it has 128MB VRAM.

If Intel would provide better onboard graphics, then games would actually work for the majority of store bought computers. Developers don't make games to target hard core gamers, if they did that would be good for us but they target on average 3 year manufactured pc's for off the shelf purchases by joe businessman or some little kid playing on moms PC. Requiring a decent graphics card on manufactured PC's is the point that is lacking.
