Hey i know nothing of Eve, but can't all the alliances band together to wipe out bob. LOL

This almost makes me want to play the game but the learning curve looks to damn steep.

Can't they reset the universe. That would be fun for people to rebuild anyway I would think.
I know nothing of the universe except one LOL story of a guy who cheated and scammed someone for real money.

They should announce an upcoming reset and start fresh.

You know there will be tons of people complaining about performance. Like just about every game.

Claims like this probably aren't wise because a backlash will come from so many people getting there hopes up for their old dilapidated machines. But it's a great claim to sell copies.

Is anyone here have Vista and a DX10 video card because this game supposed to be DX10 so i guess the demo should be running in Vista with the DX10 eye candy on. I would be curious if someone tried that already or not.

The DX10 code isn't part of the demo. That will be released later in a patch. Currently their is no DX10 games, maybe this will be the first actual game to run on DX10 but don't know if I would want that kind of publicity.

Yeah the guy with the widescreen probably didn't even move the UI to the left side either. ALT uparrow. LOL

Not to mention, the UI is completely moddable, their are already new UI's. More will come like crazy.

People think they can judge the game after one sitting, yet haven't even explored what it can do or how it works.

As to performance, it is very CPU heavy, dual/quad core definitely benefits. If 60 fps is what you require well forget about it playing the AI with a 1000 units. Unless you have core 2 duo and an 8800 people really should avoid putting all settings on high, medium is decent. This is a new game, afterall.

Mine runs smooth as silk. But there is no need to be running above 30 fps so adjust your expectations. Older hardware, well you will get challenged like all bleeding edge games. Also, turn off the stupid mini map for a perf benefit, it isn't needed in this game with the zoom. Although it takes some readjusting to get used to the new zoom way of playing.

But really this game will grow with new hardware just like many games before it. I really don't think it is all that performance hungry not compared to like oblivion, X3, FlightSim X, etc. This doesn't even come close to those fps killers.

Haven't you heard you won't need good drivers.
Microsoft is disabling hardware video acceleration in Vista and will give you uber quality software 3D.

Good to hear Hal. thx for the feedback.
I'm glad that one of the great dev houses of our time maybe able to pull off a mutual release without queering the PC play. If anyone can avoid consolitus it should be the likes of Epic since they have the budget to not cut corners. Time will tell, still a long way to go.

The simultaneous console and PC release cannot be good.
If anyone thinks for a minute it is going to be a better game as a result, your a fool.

MMORPGHarbingerOfDeath - "Anyone know what the final verdict was from beta testers?"

Well, don't know who tallied the beta votes but...
Is it worth buying? Yes.
It is different than what people are used to, their will be a learning curve. Their is also alot to manage in MP, but the game has depth. Their might be an exploit or two to be balanced yet.
Will it take the RTS crown for the year? I dunno, could be.

With periodic downloadable units and expansions the game can really mature more and keep people excited.

I want my downloadable units!

3 seperate campaigns, I'm really curious to see what they did on the single player front.

Another garbage MMO.
Too bad, could have been fun.

I will support developers that truly make great games, not ones designed to hook you into hundreds of hours of feeling you need to level up, just so you should pay more.

MMO's are everything that is wrong with gaming and weak people keep supporting the crack distributors, so here is more of your digital crack, smoke it up.

Something wrong with them witholding this information, designed as an MMO from the beginning but didn't tell anyone. Sounds like someone hiding something cause they know they did a bad thing.

"yes....yes that is all good. but tell me friend do u need joystick to play this?"

Actually they went to alot of work for it to be completely playable by mouse, infact, they recommend people play it with mouse. So yes, very playable with mouse.
Personally, I have always played space games with a joystick, so I won't play with a mouse.

Early on performance was bad, as well as stability for some.
Now the performance is hell of alot better, infact I wish I could crank up the LOD like it originally was.

This game is extreme, if you know what suspending disbelief is about, it can be alot of fun building an empire. The game is deep and the learning curve steep, but their is tons to learn and explore.

And yes, they really gave alot of post support to this game adding lots of content.

Well it's reaching epidemic.

Does anyone, who hasn't played the console version, agree this feels really ported. I mean the movement, feel of the game, the UI, everything is just so horribly awkward. 'Shift' for jump, wtf is with the pinky jump. 'Space bar' for action, wtf. Gamers 5 years ago would never have accepted this kind of crap, maybe it is becoming too common place now.

I remember the original splinter cell for PC and the controls felt great. This game feels like a stuck pig rolling around with a console controller sticking out of it's ass.

I'm really disappointed about the game feel for PC, very obviously ported with very little attention to making the controls or movement adequate for PC. BTW developpers, I don't have a 'memory storage device' for save games, so seeing messages like that only gets me even more PO'd by obvious lack of porting thoroughness.

If PC gaming ever dies this is why, the damn games were never designed properly for PC or ported well enough to feel right for the PC. Developers better stop alienating PC users like this, the PC isn't some red headed step child to get sloppy seconds to some 11 year olds xbox360. Plenty of 3rd person games have been done right for PC, this isn't one of them.
/rant

Good bye to what was once one of the great games for PC.

Am I the only one that feels this way?

63MB???

This is far below my threshold.
If a demo isn't atleast 400MB, then I can't be bothered with it.

Arkay, I never caught that game. I will check it out. I always like Klingon Academy, so Bridge Commander sounds good and similar.

I'm hoping the PC version doesn't suck or feel like a ported console game. I really would like this to be a good Trek game.

Yeah well, it may not be the RTS for everybody. But for some of us, we have been waiting for ten years for a game to compete with the number one RTS of all time.
