I will wait until the state of the pc port becomes clear. I recall 4's performance on PC being terrible.

Which was fixed not long after release and ran excellently, even when you unlock the settings to max them out.

Bullshit. The performance was NEVER fixed. Even now it runs like crap.. you have to have an extreme machine to run any of the fancy mods, and it isn't like the mods are all that fancy. The engine performance is bad, but it was also bad on consoles too. It was a pretty engine, it had lots of capabilities, but it was a slug. GTA 5 on the other hand was out the door as one of the best performing and best looking console games to date, so I'm expecting the pc port to be pretty good. Just pretty late.

I remember back when tmobile didn't suck so much, I had gotten a rogue $630 bill. I was traveling so I turned on the unlimited internet option of my phone (t68i). Within hours it was active..or so I thought. Instead what was turned on was an internet plan that was per megabyte. Well I kinda used about 20 gigabytes of data. It was fixed with a phone call because technically they did not offer a per MB internet plan at the time so they couldn't charge me for one.

7. Re: Pay for WoW Game Time with Game Gold Mar 2, 2015, 16:08 JeffD
yea this is about as safe as they can get to NON-free to play while allowing gold to be purchased for RLM. The system never creates gold out of thin air, one person has a gold and is GIVING it to another player on a promissory note to pay his subscription. I would be interested in seeing how cheap they can become.

hardocp must be hard to get new content. -_- esp with bad headlines like that. It is an article for the stupidly obvious, if your laptop has an external gpu, you might be able to swap it out. They still however can do nothing for laptops with internal graphics.

I had guild wars 2 from day 1.. and while I don't play it any more (end game is all simple grinding, there are no organised end game raids or dungeons, and the current combat model does not allow for one) I was actually pretty baffled that the games in game store offered a disappointing assortment of outfits. Also they seem to have no interest in things like mounts. In a game with no subscription fee, I can't believe they did not capitalize on this. I generally don't touch ingame stores on my subscriptions but I would have thrown a couple bucks on GW2 for some cool outfits. Especially non-battle outfit (there was a casual wardrobe you can switch to when not fighting. I actually think this casual wardrobe windows which had its own slots was taken out of the game).

So much untapped potential in gw2.

3d died because nobody took the incentive to make it affordable. Most people want cheap tv's so tv makers never put the tech in, even to make a tv 3d ready which requires a refresh slightly above the bottom of the barrel. I would have loved a 3d tv, but don't have the money for it. I am expecting 3d movies to finally make their mark when the 3d goggles come mainstream. No flicker, each eye gets its own image, and EVERY head set supports 3d! Every headset will be able to play back 3d movies.

Sorry..devils advocate this time. How exactly do keys get "stolen" and then left in the wild long enough to be sold and used? If ubisoft is going to activate all keys before they sell them, they can't deactivate them months after.

Gamers.. you want a ubisoft game from now on? Kickass torrents is THAT way.. never have your game deactivated again.

/owns ONE ubisoft game, and only because it came with my new video card.

Id say 10mbp is fine for broadband, you could do HD video easily in that. The 1-5mbps connection plans are definitely basic connections, especially when you consider the speed of cellular data these days. I have ran 10mbit for so long and never really thought I "needed" more speed. I would much rather see back end upgrades that would a) reduce latency and b) ensure that I would SEE that 10mbit/sec to my destination.

I am so tired of all the attention one report has gottem, mp3 sales down, vinyl up. They ignore one huge factor, they are not linked! The numbers of mp3 use vs the numbers in vinyl use are in 2 different universes. Billions of songs are being converted, downloaded, and copied each day as par of normal use. Sales are down because there are not many new good releases. This happens.. the planet turns.. the sun rises once again.

Vinyl on the other hand is a small subfraction of the music world and is currently enjoying a resurgence, the reason it is seeing an increase in sales is because manufacturing is increasing. Thats great news for vinyl, but useless when you want to try and directly compare it to digital sales which are not material based.

So what kind of quests are the main thing here? FCK? (Fetch/Collect/Kill)? and most importantly... how is the atmosphere in the game community wise? Are there epic quest-lines that you can solo? How is loot sharing handled? Or is loot instanced per player?

The types of quest remain the same and the game does not get into any creative quest. You are however kept on the move because you generally don't need to kill more then 7 of a mob, drops are close to %100, instead the quests are multi tiered. Most side quest are single objective but a larger quest line with gear loot can have you completing several objectives in order.

The legendary weapon line for your class is obtainable through non-raid activities, IE you will use the duty finder for pickup groups as well as acquiring the tomes (marks, dungeon currency) to buy parts for your weapon. It is kind of like guild wars 2, where GW2 required you to level multiple tradeskills and crunch weapons, FF14 has you grind lots of mobs and run lots of duty finder groups.

fates work exactly like GW2. Mob tagging is a hybrid mix, first person who hits gets loot and full xp, while people helping get a % of xp based on damage done. No loot but I think quest rewards do drop. I didn't run into to many issues of over farmed areas though.

Is FF14 worth to try now if you, say, like me, were burnt out from WOW style mmo's years ago?

F14 tends to include most of the same styles and features that WoW, GW2, and RIFT has brought. I don't think ff14 can claim to introduce anything new. Spells and the world itself are still heavily final fantasy influenced. The game does tend to be a little grindy, and what I mean is you have an excellent single player quest line for your first class to reach 50, but if you opt to level up new classes on the same character, your quest will dry up ( plus no main quest line) and you are forced to use guildleves (repeatable questlines) and FATEs (dynamic spawning events) ontop of the usual dungeon crawls.

End game gear catchup is good, but not quite as good as WoW's raid finder system which helps you jump right into securing end game gear. Ditto with the legendary weapon quest that all classes have, many of the older tiers of the questline have been made easier, but the later steps consist of a considerable grind. (and not a retarded tradeskill grind like GW2).

IMO, if you liked WoW but just got tired of the same content, you will like ff14. The game carries many features that help make leveling challenging and keep you visiting low levels areas. One of my peeves with wow was every expansion was breaking the leveling game more and more, making it braind dead easy and dull, and this has not effected FF14 yet.

Oh and don't count on much pvp, it is there as like 4 on 4 groups, but that is the extend of it. Square does balance things out by modifying pve spells in arenas like Guild Wars does, but there is nothing outside of arena style combat. There is pvp gear, but no special stat like resiliance.

Less than 1-mil between the three? I thought FFXIV was this mega-awesome MMOG that everyone adored? I never tried it, ever since GW2 came out I've had no real interest in the scene.

And yes, an MMOG can be successful and produce revenue without reaching WoW numbers, there are plenty of MMOGs that are successful in their own right.

I played through GW2, as much as I love the atmosphere (And hate how they blew up lions arch) I simply could not get around the lack of the dps/tank/healer trinity. Dungeon crawling and boss encounters are a mear shell compared to other MMOs. And I felt shackled when I wanted to create a character with stronger healing or damage absorbing aspects. Also the crafting system was just sooooo tedious.

Such a shame. I jumped on FF14 when warcrafts last expansion dropped and glad I did. Been enjoying it very much. FF14 deserves much more praise. Luckly it has a 14 day trial for pc users that can be taken at any time, and its $12.99 subscription plan makes it cheaper then most others.
