It seems to be the type of game that you can play part time.

I like the idea of a part time strategy MMO as long as I don't have to babysit/check on it every few hours just to stay competitive. Once or twice a day, would be ok.

I always had a soft spot for HOMM so I'm giving this a go.

Yeah... I usually let them take the survey but I balked when I saw that included all of the software installed on my machine.

The best thing about Spore is Creature Creator. When will they realize this? I could care less about the actual game. I've spent more hours in Creature Creator than I have playing games like Mass Effect.

The most disappointing thing about Spore was that it never delivered on the promise of playing with your Creations. What you created was basically only used as scenery for gameplay that was in no way unique.
(who makes a game about reproduction/evolution without sex anyway?!)

I'd happily pay money for an expanded "Creator" and a sandbox. No gameplay mechanics needed.

Great, just what we needed... a more responsive cancel button.

How about making it so we never have to use the cancel button?
(I'll settle for 'rarely')

Just rewrite the damn server browser already. It feels like the same crappy code from BF2.

And while you're at it, is there any reason that "Play Now" can't check for full & password protected servers BEFORE it tries to connect? Finally... "Add Server to Favorites" takes such a long time that I've never had the patience to wait for it to finish. Does it even work? Seems pretty basic....

So much for giving us that "same console experience" heh?

Screw 'em anyway. I'm over it. They may actually have saved me some money because I'll never buy another FPS without dedicated server support again.

Come on Treyarch... my hopes are now pinned on you for a proper COD PC experience.

Part of the promise of online delivery was quicker access to games.
It's hard to have any sympathy for the publishers when they keep pulling crap like this. I had to wait nearly a week to play MW2 from Steam after the pirates & street date breaking store customers were already playing it. Here we go again.

Screw you. It's a slap in the face to paying customers. Think I may just grab that torrent....

One might think that pc gamers like mw2 based on those numbers...

If you don't mind paying 60 bucks to level up again on new maps with random people it's ok. Not GOTY and no serious PC player will be playing it after a month or two unless a dedicated server appears.

Single player is over the top and all over the place.... I didn't care for it enough to even finish it. I must say, the controversial scene left a bad taste in my mouth. I fail to see what purpose it served. It's not like we play FPSes for the story or some moral lesson. But if you want a virtual Columbine-like experience, this is your game.

I wonder how hard it would be for some enterprising young hacker out there to make the MW2 multiplayer maps work in MW1?

Oh well... I think I'll switch to Crysis Wars for a while.

It's pretty but,

It's basically a track racing sim with a generous sliding scale of difficulty... accessible & arcade like feel at the low end.

I prefer point to point races with varied scenery, though without the obnoxious bling of recent NFS games.

This one is still flashy and there are a ridiculous amount of things to get points for but at least there's no contrived plot. I'd pick GRID over this but they are very similar.

I'm still waiting for another NFS Porsche Unleashed like game....

Ok... I've played single player for a few hours and I'm disappointed. Graphics aren't that great except for the faces which are animated well at times. Textures look like crap up close, in sharp contrast to whatever you are holding. It feels like a console game. Movement is too jerky with a mouse. Lots of graphical glitches (mostly aliasing, which there are no settings for)

It just doesn't feel right and really can't compete with COD/Crysis.
Not even in the same league, graphically or gameplay wise.

I love the cheesy Indiana Jones vs the Nazis thing but I don't know.... something is wrong. It doesn't help that the interface was obviously designed for a console and anything to make a mouse more useful was a concession.

As far as I'm concerned, it's now official. XBox players have lower standards and ID just lowered theirs. This is no way as good on PC as the XBOX 360 reviews make it sound. Haven't seen any PC reviews yet.

This would have been a pretty good game 3 or 4 years ago but now I'm sorry I shelled out 50 bucks for it.

As for multiplayer.... there is some back to basics fun potential but we'll all be playing Moder Warfare 2 in a short while anyway.

Oh well... The sound is really good.

I don't know if this will help but it helps me.

Try playing on servers with 12 or fewer people. Almost all of the problems you mentioned go away and the game becomes much more enjoyable. You actually have time to think when you spawn.

On a FFA server with 20 or more people, If you don't know the map inside and out and have a plan for every spawn, you are screwed.

Trust me. It will improve your game.

Porsche Unleashed was the best in the series.

Absolutely. I've been waiting for a follow up ever since. All I want to do is drive a fast car and look at the scenery. No drama please (ok, maybe a cop here and there], no actors necessary. This competitive street racer crap that NFS devolved into is really, REALLY bad. K.I.S.S.

I'm liking this game but I've seen a lot of people talking trash about it... probably people with crap systems is all I can figure.

No, the biggest problem isn't really performance though I think there's no excuse for that.

The biggest problem is that it's ridiculously easy. The cars behave like Mario Karts.

That and the graphics are a bit bright/washed out. No color controls either, you have to adjust your monitor (which already looks fine running everything else)

This game is a dog. The first game that isn't playable on my (admittedly old) 2100mhz Athlon 64 box w/a 9600GT.

This PC runs Grid & COD4/CODWW just fine for christ's sake, but the CPU is definitely a bottle neck for NFSU. Doesn't matter what the gfx settings are. It's even barely playable on my Athlon X24400 box w/same GFX card (this box handles Crysis reasonably well) Finally, in case you are wondering, NFSU is most definitely not worth a CPU upgrade.

The full game is better than the demo. I personally think this is the best racer in years.

I prefer arcade racers and I think they did a pretty good job of combining arcade & realism. This one is definitely more for the casual racers than Dirt was. And it's far far far superior to NFS PRo Street.

Difficulty can be set from Need for Speedish easy to freaking impossible. The driving model is not hyper realistic. My biggest problem was getting past 15 other cars on two lane roads without causing a pile up. Once you're in front though, the cars are not hard to drive in normal mode and anyone who's played NFS should be able to handle it.

The Flashback feature is nice. If you screw up, you can rewind and re-start from just before the crash. You get a limited amount of these per race.

The game graphics are near photo realistic. Interface is tight. Instant replays fantastic.

Me too... I got more enjoyment out of PU than just about any other racing game, ever. I bit my tongue and played all the NFS Underground games but ProStreet is just too obnoxious, imo.

Best Arcade/PC racer of late has been the Flat Out Series... looking forward to the next one.

I'm at least 1/2 way through.
Better graphics and arguably better single player than COD4. Very re-playable. Jury is still out on multiplayer but I think COD4 will remain king of the multiplayer FPSes for some time.

Plays quite well on a 8800 GTS 320MB\Athlon X2 4400 system at 1280x1024, medium settings, and 2xAA. Looks freaking incredible.

This is it guys. Graphically, the best FPS of the year with COD4 running close behind. UT3 won't beat it.
