You, literally, proved my point. Someone feeling sick, because they're NOT moving, but appear to be, is the whole problem.

Every person I've seen, first-hand, gets nauseated eventually. That's never gonna change, in this iteration of the hardware, because you're not physically moving.

No man, that's not how it works, and no iteration of the current Oculus hardware addresses this (nor do any of the games).

You're not even thinking about your assertion. Basically, unless the Oculus literally supports someone WALKING FORWARD, it's going to throw you off.

Those rollercoaster demos were effing DESIGNED for the Rift, and you're blaming the software? They were the biggest offenders.

Basically, unless you're saying that the Star Trek version of "The Holodeck" is the Oculus + it's software, you're missing the entirety of the point.

The only titles, I repeat, ONLY titles that fit your assertion on what's 'acceptable' for the Rift are demos/games that involve sitting completely stationary, and looking around/leaning very slightly.

That's completely not what it will be used for, and not what people are expecting.

I own a DK2, and (unless I'm remembering wrong) paid only a bit over half of this price. A few things from my POV having had the DK2 for about a year:

1. Motion sickness is inevitable, after a lengthy playthrough, REGARDLESS of the changes made to refresh rate. This is part of the 'my body isn't physically doing what my eyes are saying,' effect. There's a scientific term for this, I'm sure, but that's the best way to explain it. More than 45 minutes inside, and I need a break, and even then I suffer from dizziness or nausea. I should mention I'm extremely into rollercoasters, rides, skydiving, etc., so it's totally cerebral of an effect.

2. Controller vs. Keyboards/Mice - So, this is debatable, for sure. However, most of you will inevitably come to conclude (I think) that sitting back with a controller is MUCH easier for you, and to show it off to others it would be nearly impossible for new people to comprehend WADS/Ctrl/Alt/Space whilst inside this tightly reformed headset. In my DK2 there's space in the bottom where I could look down and see my keyboard. As I understand it, that's no longer the case. The controller usage I was sold on within minutes.

3. The price. No. Just.. no. VR is, and still will be (for a while) a novelty thing that you are into for a few weeks, but don't really feel compelled to return to but maybe once every few months when a new, VR-specific, app or game is released. I played Alien: Isolation in it extensively, and most of the popular titles on the share/Oculus pages. They're fun, but novelty interests, at best. They've overshot here, and I can't help but think that FB and their investors are desperately attempting to grab at the massive amount of money they dumped into Oculus back then. I'm seeing a lot of guffaws elsewhere as well, outside of Blue's, and fully anticipate that initial sales will be disappointing (but not small, by any means). Give it another year or two, and time to iron out the kinks. I bet by Q4, 2016, we see a massive 'Holiday push' to sell more of these items, and by then, maybe even a firmware (or even hardware) upgrade to go along with the number of titles that will likely finally be coming out to rationalize the obscene specs and price.

Agreed. Police forces everywhere need to be reigned in and leashed. In Canada they're virtual rogue agencies. Well, but can you really call this a game? Jump scares are typical for movies and interaction with the world is basically zero. Nothing survival in it, just about an hour of walking around in a depressing story! And that at a size bigger than good old games, like the mentioned Undying or even my favorite Bloodlines with hours of fun and tension.

It's more of an interactive experience, not a game.

HOWEVER, I should mention that my achievements list seems to suggest that I didn't get the 'true' ending, as there appears to be multiple outcomes, depending on the level of investigation you do into the back story.

I'll say it's pretty effing twisted, for sure. I didn't see it going where it did until about halfway through, then it got morally messy.

Actually, I pre-ordered it.

It's good. It's not Amnesia, and it takes way too long to get intense or genuinely creepy. However, the story is thought-provoking and original enough for me to finish, which is saying a lot more than I can about many other single-player titles these days who blow a lot of hot air.

Am I alone in the feeling that my preference for Steam is starting to wane?

Not sure if it's due to the flood of poor quality games, or simply my age is beginning to take hold.
