make the game run just as well on three year old hardware as it does on brand new hardware.

Then people will bitch that they didn't do enough, if they could have obviously added more effects and a higher poly count, but didn't.

I just hope that enough devs hop behind physx that ATI licenses it from NVidia and ALL devs can start using it, knowing the users will be getting an advantage.

I would LOVE to see Steam offer a $5/15% transfer option. So then, if you are done with Bioshock, you can sell it for $20, take $5 of that for the transfer 'cost' - this way the publisher gets SOME money from a used title, and the used game buyer actually KNOWS they got the game and a 'good key'.

Shoot, even have a game marketplace, where you, the Game Owner, post what you want to sell, and use the service as an escrow. The buyer gives their CC# to Steam, Steam moves the key, Steam takes their cut, Steam pays the seller. Sounds like fun, and its ANOTHER way for steam to make a fortune, and hopefully become 'better' in the eyes of some of its vocal detractors.

I've been dual-monitor at home and work for a while, and I LOVE IT. Actually 'lost' one of my monitors at home and I felt half-blind while it was being replaced.

Enjoy!

Damn, and I like the show, too. This is why I don't bother caring about shows until they are in season 5, and I can get seasons 1-4 on DVD.

Hey, I welcome more good stable mil shooters.

Since the Tom Clancy series got UBI'd, and Battlefield got EA'd, there is not much worth waiting for besides Ground Branch.

I'll add ARMA II and OFP2 to the list.

Is ARMA I still worth getting? Is there a good online community, and is there a worthy single player campaign?

BigShot - odd, I tried the demo (or was that the beta?) and it ran like complete crap for me. That was on a 8800GT on a 2.9ghz Opteron dual-core. You'd think a 10-year old engine would run better. Must have just been a bad day for my computer. Movement and aiming felt bad, and those were things that in OFP felt much more 'right' to me. Then again, I didn't devote the last 10 years to playing OFP. I didn't even play for more than a couple of months.

You're right, the point here has nothing to do with my cares about the game. And if Bohemia let codemasters have the name (I guess as part of the terms of their separation), I don't feel too bad, as bohemia could have traded other assets (including $$) for the name. It'd be dumber if codemasters gave something up to get the name, then didn't use it.

Just like ARMA 1 I'll download the demo. If it is horrible, like ARMA1's was, I'll skip it. Same with OFP2.

I do have a teeeeensy bit more faith in ARMA2, mostly because it looks like they are sticking to fixing ARMA1 and calling it ARMA2.

Wow, this all reminds me of crysis/far cry. crysis is really the successor to far cry, where far cry 2 has nothing to do with far cry but share the name.

And, BigShot, you speak as if Bohemia have put out some kind of A+ product since OFP. All I've seen is drivel that reminded me more of soldner than the feel of OFP.

They gave the "gameplay engineering" to 'spore' over L4D. Come on now.

the interactive awards are made by a group of "industry experts" and was founded by a lawyer and a guy from a dev company in britain whose games I never played.

that's a recipe for success. I give the G4 awards as much credibility.

How many purely non-derivative (<--this is the key part) innovations by Microsoft can you name?

Terraserver (later 'borrowed' to become google maps)
The new picture stitching stuff they're doing

Both MS tools I didn't see elsewhere.
